Differences between studios and standard rooms?

I was researching resorts on the Disney site and noticed that during value season, Vacation Club studios cost the same as standard rooms.

What are the differences between these two? I see the studio has a kitchenette, so I'm wondering if that would be preferable to a standard room? I guess I'm just wondering why they would cost the same.

I got the 40% off code this week and it's valid on all resort types. I booked a standard room at BC which I'm so excited about (never been there before), but now I'm wondering if we should try for a studio. I just noticed on the email that villas are included in the discount. I guess that would include a studio too.

We are a family of 4 (kids are 7 & 4). While a kitchen would be nice, we haven't had one in the past and don't really eat in the room. Are there other benefits to studio vs. standard?

Thanks everyone!

Besides the kitchenette, the other main difference is the bedding. All DVC studios have 1 queen bed and 1 full size sleeper sofa (except OKW which has 2 queens). The deluxe standard rooms have either 2 queens or 2 queens and a daybed.

You also have access to a free washer and dryer with the studio while you don't with the standard room.

Thank you for the feedback. Does anyone know if the studios all have balconies, and what the views might be like?

We currently have a standard view booked at BC, but after reading the FAQ thread, I'm concerned we'll end up with a yucky view and not a real balcony.

Only those staying on DVC points have access to the washers/dryers. Those on cash ressies do not. (your room key opens the laundry room door)

The studios at BCV all have full balconies, but the views aren't great. When we stayed there last fall we had a view of a busy, loud road. The BC standard views aren't great either, though, and many have a "balcony" that is really just a spot for one person to stand; no table or chairs.

Just a comment-to say "the views aren't that great" is subjective. I've had some views I loved. However, I've had the road view-once-and to avoid getting one again (I also really disliked it) I always ask for a quiet area.

For views at BC, I think the studio views are typically preferable. I think the same on balconies, too.

Ugh, what, you mean I won't be able to use the free washer and dryer at BWV because I am paying cash for our visit, that was the whole reason I booked at the villas, not thinking it is worth it now.

I just got back from BWV today and the laundry room wasn't secured, so I am guessing any BWV guest can use it. :thumbsup2

BCV was built as an after though to the resort and build in the parking lot/tennis courts of the Beach Club resort. So naturally you are not going to get great views. Some of the views are ok, but I would not classify any of them as great.

If you choose Beach Club, ask for a full balcony.
