Differences between AKL and Caribbean Beach???

My fiance and I are trying to choose between the AKL and Caribbean Beach for our honeymoon right now. We have a hold on the AKL for 10 more days but wanted to know what the differences were. I have been to the Caribbean, but not to the AKL. We love having a beach to spend time on, but know that the AKL does not have that. But we love the idea of seeing animals all of the time while at the AKL.

Differences anyone? Where would you stay? And if you say the AKL service is better HOW is it better specifically? Thanks a bunch!

The difference is:

AKL-deluxe inside corridor, hotel like, african theming...it is a nice hotel but is not my cup of tea, I prefer CBR because I like...

CBR-moderate resort, outside corridor rooms, carribean, tropical theming, bright colors, 1 main pool w/ a pirate theming, 6 quiet pools, good bus service ( I found it better than AKL's bus service)

It is a matter of personal taste, I didn't care for the dark colors etc.. and I am more into the tropical, beachy feel. I also felt like my King room at CBR was bigger than my standard at AKL.

Just my opinion though.

We stayed at both and we like AKL better than CBR. We love Boma. Having a nice place for breakfast and dinner at the resort is really nice. The beds are better, the air conditioning is better, the check-in process is easier than at CBR. Having to wait to have your luggage driven to your room took a long time. At CBR you can be a long way from the food court.

Don't get me wrong though...we really enjoyed the stay at CBR, but once we stayed at AKL there is no going back. DH loves the work out facility there too at AKL and Boma. He loves Boma. DH and DS need a good night's sleep, food and a work out and all is wonderful

No comparison! AKL is MUCH nicer. Much better transportation. Seven bus stops is a bit much (CBR). CBR was nice, but AKL is amazing!

The difference between a moderate and a deluxe is just what the names imply. We stayed at the CBR last summer and it was very nice, but definately not a deluxe. If you're interested in the specialness you will experience at a deluxe, but want a beach, consider staying at the Poly. Our favorite building is Tahiti. You can get a ground floor lagoon view room, with an unobstructed view of the castle and space mountain, that is just a few steps from the beautiful white sand beach. By the way, you cannot swim at any of the Disney beaches, something about naturally occuring bacteria and alligators!

DH and I stayed at CBR for our 1st anniversary (corner room with a king bed in Trinidad North) and thought it was very romantic. Then we stayed at AKL this past spring break and thought that was very romantic also!

CBR - theme is really colorful and the size of the resort make it feel really private - kind of like just the two of you are lost somewhere beautiful. There were times when DH and I were the only people in the quiet pool. The hammocks on the beach are really nice also, but we didn't spend a whole lot of time there. Dining options are ok - we were pleasantly suprised by Shutters (the table service restaurant.)

AKL - the theming is dark and exotic. The pool is great but not quiet. The pool bar is fabulous! The room was much nicer than CBR although it did feel a little smaller. The lobby is just breathtaking and we loved watching the animals. Dining is wonderful! Mara is pretty good for a food court and Boma and Jiko are two of the best restaurants at WDW IMHO. Also - we had a special meal delivered to our room and served on our balcony. Really special! PM me if you want details.

If you are going to spend lots of time in the parks I would go for CBR. If you are going to spend lots of time in the room or hanging out at the resort I would chose AKL.

I've stayed at both too. I prefer AKL. I agree...Boma is great! I LOVED looking @ the girafes from my room! GREAT! I wasn't thrilled with the CBR....nothing exciting. I would not return there again. Megan

we've stayed at both - twice.

it really boils down to if you want to spend the money on a deluxe.

as others have stated - one is African and dark and mysterious (and educational at times) the other it light, airy, and tropical. Depends what you are in the mood for.

when we stayed at AKL - we stayed concierge both times - totally spoiled ourselves. But we were able to do both the sunrise AND sunset safaris...I definetly reccommend both of these! (only available to concierge guests)

However, on our next trip, since it's our 2nd of 3 trips this year, I insisted that we stay at someplace more affordable..I would have been very happy with CBR again - but we are branching out and trying POFQ.

whatever you decide on - have a fantastic Honeymoon! And if you DO end up staying at CBR - at least make PS's at Jiko for dinner one night - you won't regret it!

The difference between the two is like night and day. We have stayed at CBR once and AKL four times. Staying at AKL again in June '04. You can tell which we prefer.

The bus at AKL serves only AKL so it is quick and less stressfull. Also less crowded. The pool is really beautifull and the lobby is great, especially at Christmas.
