What are some of the differences? Do we get anything "extra" for the extra money??

Interior corridors, larger spaces, larger beds, fine dining at the resort, room service.

Some may argue that there is fine dining at Coronado Springs. I'm going to be finding out soon. :cheer2:

Oh, a major difference...lots and lots of ducats!

:grouphug: We have stayed at all the mods(ex POFQ) and we absolutely love them! We think the only MAJOR difference is the price and at a moderate you get alot for a little in our opinion. Save your money for souvenirs!! Go Moderate! :cheer2:

For my family, we find that there is a big difference between sleeping in a queen bed vs a double bed. The size of the rooms can be significantly more in a delux.

Moderate resort rooms are less square footage, the beds are smaller (2 full instead of 2 queen), your door opens directly to the outdoors, exterior corridors and walkways, no room service (just pizza delivery), no concierge offered, no fine dining options, and no spa facility. I think that's about it. Off the top of my head.

The deluxe resorts are set up like regular hotels (interier hallways, valet parking, full room service, bell services). The moderates are set up like motels (your door opens to the outside, there are no balconies, no valet parking, limited room service, bell services is on a schedule).

It really depends on the vacation experiance you are looking for. If you just want a clean bed to sleep in between going to the parks then the moderates are fine. If you want to enjoy your resort and enjoy a slower pace of vacation then a deluxe is the way to go.

It really all comes down to personal vacation style.

Sorry for the typo.

A ducat is an old fashioned term for money.

1. Any of various gold coins formerly used in certain European countries.

2. Slang.
1. A piece of money.
2. An admission ticket.

Location, location, location!

Deluxes are generally closer to the parks. monorail loop are deluxes, with wl being a boat ride (and a *less expensive* deluxe). ak is also a *less expensive* deluxe and not walking to anywhere. bw and y&bc are walking & boat to epcot and mgm.

we love the deluxes for the room service availability, atmosphere, especially location (you can't beat seeing cindy's castle from your resort, watching and hearing the fireworks, the electric water parade...)

but i'd take disney any way i could! value, moderate, deluxe, or staying in the cheapest motel in kissimmee (which is what we had to do growing up, and we loved it!)

I though I would bump this for you with an answer I gave to someone else in November.

Here are my opinions on the advantages/disadvantages of each level:

Advantage of Value over Moderates and Deluxes
* Price.
* Food Courts for quick meals.
* Pop Century has its own bus.
* All Stars resorts share busses, but there is usually very little wait on either end.

Disadvantage of Values
* Small rooms.
* Large groups can sometimes be rowdy.
* No pool slide or hot tub.
* external corridors.
* Pizza delivery only.

Advantage of Moderate over Values
* Nicer feature pools with slides and hot tubs.
* Bigger rooms.
* Sit-down restaurants (all but POFQ).
* Real bars in main area plus pool bar, not just pool bar (except POP).
* Nicer food court, it's not just one big room.
* No giant icons.

Disadvantages of Moderates
* Can be spread out and most need an internal bus system.
* External corridors.
* Pizza delivery only.

Advantage of Deluxe over Moderates and Values
* Bigger rooms yet. Many can sleep 5 people.
* Large variety of sit-down restaurants.
* Nicer feature pools, many with zero entry.
* Internal corridors.
* All have sliding glass doors and most have balconies or patios.
* Most have special proximity to parks: monorail/boat to MK, walk/boat to
Epcot/MGM.
* Room service.
* Valet parking.

Disadvantage of Deluxes
* Epcot deluxes do not have snack shops for a quick meal.
* Price.
* Busses are often shared, especially the Epcot resorts. The ride can take a long time.
* Self parking can be difficult, especially at the monorail hotels.

Fine Dining at Coronado? I don't think so..I remember the food court thing only. That was actually pretty good but not fine dining(the cooks were soooo nice here though!!) If you ask DH he will say they don't take your bags to your room unless you ask in the moderate - no valets lingering about. At the Deluxe they are all over you.(he likes this)

You're right. The Pepper Market is not "fine dining", but it does have great food! I had a great Tuna steak with grilled veggies and my DH had their huge beef steak special. Yummy!

With the deluxe the rooms are larger and there is a balcony. DH & I love having a balcony, we can put the kids to bed, sit on the balcony & have some time to ourselves.
