Diez (10) Noches Calientes en la Riviera Mexicana/17 de abril 2011 (4.17.11 Wonder!)

:welcome: Welcome, Richelle!

We are going to be visiting your lovely city shortly. :cool1: Heading off to Seattle this weekend for an Alaskan cruise (w/Carnival) and our last port is Victoria. Sadly we are only going to be there for a few hours in the evening, but I hear it's a beautiful city and we are looking forward to wandering around the inner harbor area.

Susan - I think you're really brave to be heading to DL on an anniversary Saturday in the middle of July. But I hope you have a wonderful time! (I'm so jealous that you live close enough to just "pop in"! :goodvibes )

party: Welcome auntshell, family and friends!! :rainbow:

Yes, it has been quiet over here. Southern California finally got the heat-triple digits today. I popped into Disneyland for a few minutes this morning, and I have the 55th Anniversary Brochures, if anyone would like one. I'll be back on Saturday for the festivities.

Well of course if you have extras! PM me the details and cost and I will PM you my addie. :thumbsup2

I'm so excited I couldn't wait to tell you guys to:yay:

Happy Birthday Disneyland:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
55 years ago Disneyland opened!

Also yay for our 9 month countdown to the cruise!! So nice to be in the single digit months now.

I was lucky enough to meet Amy (amyamya) and her adorable kids yesterday at the park. We live in the same neighborhood and met on this meet thread, how funny is that. We had fun, even though it was 106 degrees here. We hope to get together a lot over the next 9 months so our kids have friends in the club.

Kristi - Thoughts and questions..
Cut off date.... I am open to this as it depends on the size of the group. If you have a larger group than 3-4 months ahead gives enough time for planning, crafting, making or ordering gifts. If you break into smaller groups of under 20, then you can probably make it 1 - 2 months out.

Do you have a cut off size of groups?

Not sure I like the designating day for giving, because if something happens or you get your Character breakfast and spa treatments for the same day, you might not be able to deliver on your schedule. Maybe designating beginning, middle or end of the cruise. That give the freedom for someone to pick the day, but not having everything in the beginning of the cruise and nothing at the end.

Kristi, here are my thoughts on the FE:

- I definitely agree we need a cut off date, but I think December will be too early. On our last cruise I organized the FE (so I really appreciate what you got yourself into with this big a group :worship:). We tried to cut off 4 weeks out but there were people who signed up for the cruise late and people who found the DIS late and I felt really bad about leaving them out (we eventually all agreed to let everyone participate, but our group was only about 20 total, much smaller than this one is going to be.)

- Maybe you could use cutoff dates to put us in smaller groups? Like, see how many people we have signed up 4 months out and get us all set into however many groups, then the people who join later can be put into their own FE group until the 4 week cutoff? Does that make sense?

- We did have "set" days for deliveries, but it was clear that the schedule was flexible. We didn't want to leave it to chance and end up with too many delivering on the same day - too heavy for the FE on that day and nothing at all on other days - but we agreed that if for whatever reason that day didn't end up working for you then you would do it whenever you could. No stress -it's vacation and the FE exchange is supposed to be fun. :goodvibes Laura's idea is a good one too; just give folks a window of a few days and let them work it in when they can.

However we end up deciding to do it, it's gonna be fun!

Karen - added your photo on the roll call.

Kristi - are you the official volunteer for the FE?

I agree with Dany for a cut off date four to six weeks before the cruise and splitting the list if it's too long. On last cruise, there were 40 staterooms participating and I ended up bringing a carry-on full of FE gifts even with the group split into two.

Laura, Dany and Connie, good suggestions for the FE's. I have never done them before so all I know is what I read on the boards. Dany, since you have done this before, I might email you for advice and suggestions. Do we want to see how many people have signed up, say Jan. 1st 2011, and then decide if we should split into groups? I like the idea about people that add late, get their own FE group, so everyone is included.

Yes, I can be the official FE person. Connie, since we have the website now, do you want to be the official Roll Call person, so we don't have dual lists?

We can also decide closer if we want to assign set days to deliver or a time frame. Maybe we can take a vote of all the participants. I agree though to totally keep it loose if someone cannot deliver at their scheduled time.

Hi Everyone.....We just booked and will be sailing with you on April 17 2011. Myself Richelle, DH Carlisle, DS Chadwick (13yrs) time of trip, DD Veronica (8 yrs). We will be bringing some friends, a family of 6 DD (17), DS (15), DS (13) DD (9) and my parents. Can't wait, it's going to be fun. This is our second cruise with Disney, we did the 11 day Mediterranean Cruise April 24, 2010. It was amazing, so much to see. We are from Victoria, BC Canada. We will be planning to visit DL after Cruise for a few days. We are scheduled for Main dinning.

Welcome Richelle!! I have been to Victoria a few times, beautiful place. We always visit Butchart Gardens.

Can you please add us to the FE list. We did this a couple of years ago and DH asked if we were doing it again, said it was fun :). DH, DD5 and myself.

You guys are added :goodvibes

party: Aloha Jareds_mommy & friends!! :welcome:

9 months FINALLY!!! It really felt like this last month went SOOO slow, except it feels like my summer is almost over. This last week has been a lot of staying low...JoJo had strep throat and ended up in the ER with 106.6 temp. I'm ready for life again except it's hot as hell in Fresno! :sad2:

9 Months

OMG it is 106 here too and no rain in sight (We want rain this time of year to cool things down). The desert is a cruel place in the summer.

Kristi - I had forgotten how hot it gets in N. Cal. I remember growing up without central air and being in the 2nd story trying to sleep at night.
The best thing you have going for you all out there is Folsom Lake and the American River and Lots of shade trees. We have none of that in the desert an have to take some dips in the pool.

Anyone up to connecting on facebook?

Welcome Auntshell & Jareds_mommy! I have added you to the roll call on the website (see link on my signature). If you'd like to send me a photo, I can upload it on the roll call. I also added a photo of Feenie (Athene) to the website.

This is our second cruise with Disney, we did the 11 day Mediterranean Cruise April 24, 2010.

Richelle, we were on the May 15, 11-night mediterranean. Wasn't that an incredible trip? I can't imagine the 10-night since I was so ready for a sea day just after Tunisia! Glad you made it to your cruise too, we were following all the drama with cancelled flights from the volcanic ash. It affect our cruise too. Boy that was stressful.

Yes, I can be the official FE person. Connie, since we have the website now, do you want to be the official Roll Call person, so we don't have dual lists?

Sure, I can be the roll call person! And I'll just update the FE info on the website whenever you need me to.

Kristi-Happy Birthday to DL and to YOU!!! :cake:

It was so great meeting you and your kids, too! It was HOT!!!! Love the opportunity to meet up before the cruise, talk about all the details and get excited!!

Welcome to all the new families!

My group was much smaller than this one is going to be, and I'm certainly no expert, but I'd be happy to help you any way I can. Just let me know. :) I think waiting until January to make any decisions on groups is a good idea. Final payment date will be past, holiday season will be over, and we can focus on our cruise! :cool1:

That must have been scary. Hope he's feeling better now.

It was officially 111 degrees here today - but the thermometer on my patio (in the shade) said 115! How did people live out here before A/C?? We are actually looking forward to the 60 degree weather in Alaska.

Laura, I have a Facebook account but I really only use it to check up on DD's page, so I don't know too much about it. Were you thinking about starting a page just for this cruise?

Well, I guess I've put off my packing as long as I can. It's so much harder to pack for Alaska than for someplace warm; everyone tells you to bring layers and plan for warm weather, cold weather, wet weather, formal clothes, casual clothes...I need more suitcases! So glad we can drive to the port in April and don't have to worry about how much our luggage weighs.

Talk to you all when we get back. :goodvibes

Thanks for the Welcome Travelbee, we were biting our nails also, but our flights all worked out. I loved the Med trip and we will for sure do it again....so much to see and so little time...=)
We are so looking forward to the shorter flight, my son didn't fly well, but had no problem on the cruise.
Thanks for adding us to the roll call, I'm sure my friend will be joining and can let you know all her details....=) My parents names are Susan and Brian
Well got to run, my family is calling me to watch a movie....=) bye for now

:lovestruc I second the WOW!!! It's great! :thumbsup2

Travelbee - I just e-mailed you a pic from our '08 cruise...funny that I can't find anything more current...yet. ;)

Me three!

Connie, I also just emailed you a picture from our '08 cruise...we don't have many pictures of us where we're all together!! Actually, that picture was taken as the Magic was leaving Cabo San Lucas, so I guess it's fitting :)
