Diez (10) Noches Calientes en la Riviera Mexicana/17 de abril 2011 (4.17.11 Wonder!)

Thanks got it:thumbsup2 I think the wrist bands are going to turn out super cute. They have a buy 100 get 100 free. We are already at 114. Really anything over 100 our individual prices keep going down, so that is awesome. It will be fun to see all these lime green bands around the ship.

Kristi, could I order 1 a & 2 y wrist bands please. :thumbsup2

I am planning to do my Easter shopping when we get to LA - I don't particularly fancy packing that sort of thing in our luggage, not sure it would go un-noticed in our bags - between the 3 of our kids, one of them is sure to see something! I'm sure anything I find will be a novelty considering it will be from the U.S. rather than home. :dance3:

(The excitement level in our house is rising by the day. Lily turns 10 on March 2nd and she's telling everyone this trip is to celebrate her birthday! :wizard:)

I posted this on the main board. It looks like they do a little something for Easter....

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2645347

Thanks Lisa for that post about Easter. I remember asking that question after last Easter, and I got responses that they did not do anything special. I would be totally happy with pretty Easter displays and the white rabbit. I would like to have breakfast in Tritons that morning and we will do an egg hunt in our cabins. Take our time on the ship in the morning and then head out to Cabo. We have some small fabric baskets I could fill. Maybe I will take a trip to the shops and get a couple special souvenirs to put in them.

Penny, got your wrist bands added to my list. :thumbsup2

Ordered them yesterday, the arrival date here is March 14th. I hope they turn out cute. I got an email after I ordered that if I submit a 30-60 second video after I receive the bands about my experience and what we are using them for they will refund $10. I am all about saving a buck, so I will do that. That will drop our price to $1 a band:cool1::cool1:

I will hold off having you guys pay for them until they arrive. That way I can weigh them and figure in shipping if you want to receive before cruise. If you don't care, I can give them to you at the port or on the ship.

I know there were some people who wanted to book the Cabo Dolphin Swim but couldn't because it was full. I was checking on my BOB excursion (no luck there yet) and right now, there are spaces available for the Dolphin Swim on both Day 8 and Day 9 - go book quickly if you're interested!!

It appears that DCL opened a number of excursions up for day 8 (Easter Sunday) over last weekend. We booked the Cabo Pool Getaway for Easter Sunday. I encourage everyone to revisit the excursion selection to see if something that you wanted has opened up yet. :thumbsup2

I'm happy to get them from you on the day - (James and Lokie :cool2: might change their minds and want them then!) At the moment its just the girls princess:

Hi Kel! In Manzanillo a bunch of us are going to caravan over to Tesoro (I think that's where they filmed the movie "10" with Bo Derek". This was originally offered as a DCL excursion but for some reason they canceled it! The all inclusive cost is somewhere between $41 or $29/A and the little people are about half...we're trying to confirm which price it is...getting conflicting info! A taxi is about $12 max each way. I think with a slew of us we'll have safety in numbers.

We've been to Cabo several times and we usually just go to "The Office" which is a bar on the beach. If you buy a few beverages they'll provide you with a lounge chair and umbrella where you can park yourself on the beach and watch the kids play. Last time we were there we rented jet skis and DH took the kids out while I enjoyed the lounge chair and my adult beverage. I however, did NOT enjoy "Hey Lady, you wanna buy" but what can you do, these folks are trying to make a living!
Maybe we can rent a small bus to take us! My dentist asked yesterday what our travel plans were. He's traveled around the world and back - LOVE him (I want him to adopt me). Anyway, he said he just hangs out at The Office. I had to laugh!
Bought my fabric pens for the pillowcase at JoAnn's The Crayola brand comes with 10 different colored fabric pens, and is the lowest price at $4.99 pack. Even less if you have your coupons and/or teacher discount card. And have you seen the cute Mickey plates at Target?! I may get one to take and have them sign it with Sharpies. I saw this on another DISboard and it was really cute.

Okay Lisa, this is what I heard back from Tesoro:

Thank you very much for consider Tesoro Manzanillo for your visit, for sure we can offer you a special rate for all inclusive Day-pass. Are included meals, drinks, all the activities and facilities. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The rate is $358mn pesos or like $29 dollars per person and the kids from 6 to 12 years old, pay just the half prize.

For those dates here in Mexico its holidays, so you have to check the availability for DAY PASS few days before you come, because if we are between 85 and 100% of occupancy, unfortunately we will not can sell this Day-pass.

Okay so yippee for the price:cool1:, but now there is the element that they might not have room for us:headache:

I guess I will send an email to them a day or so before we go. However, we can't really contact them on the boat I guess. I would hate to get out there and then turned away.:sad1:

Well that puts a new spin on things. but not really surprised. I'd be surprised if it wasn't full. Guess we'll just have to see what we find out in the days before we leave, although they may tell us to just show up and see. Cross your fingers! And, wonder if that's why Disney cancelled?

We also just booked the Cabo Pool Getaway for Easter!

Can someone please tell me how to put multi quotes in a response? I use to know but can't figure it out and I want to reply to several posts at one time.:headache::headache:

Welcome to all the folks who are just joining us!

Every time we've asked about day passes at an all inclusive we've been told that they're offered on a space available basis. I was afraid the timing of our cruise might present a bit of a problem with that.

I think we're set for everywhere except Manzanillo. Not sure what to do there. I'd say we might use it as a day to kick around an uncrowded ship, but with the lack of excursion options, I'm wondering if a whole lot of folks might have the same idea? It might be kind of like a Nassau day on the Bahamas cruises... more crowded on the ship than off the ship. :rotfl:

Michelle, to multi-quote click on the little quotation marks to the right of the quote tab on every reply you want to quote, when you're done, click on the post reply tab.

I am getting ready to order the wrist bands this week. Following is the list I have so far. A few people I am missing sizes for. I know I had gotten them from you in the past, but then I changed companies to get a better price and now the only sizes are Adult & Youth. So please PM me or respond to this post and let me know what size. I will get back to everyone on the price. Right now it is $1.50 per band, but the more people who order the price goes down. We are paying for 100 bands and getting 100 free, so there will be extras and people can still add. When I get the exact price you can pay me via paypal or cash at the port/ship. Also, if you want them shipped I will figure out the shipping cost (probably a dollar or 2).

Thanks for the info Lisa!

Michelle, there is one time for early and one time for late now. Hmm, I think early is 5:45 and late is 8:15. It is funny, we eat at 5:30 at home and my kids are in bed at 7:30. On the cruise I specifically switched to and want late dining. There are a few different reasons why I prefer it. I am hoping my kids switch to "ship time" without a problem. Definitely naps will be implemented for my 2 year old, who does not take them at home. I have been prepping him for months that he needs to nap on the Mickey boat.
Ah, ok...I remember this now. I am glad that it isn't staggered seating times anymore, that was a pain.

Oops, forgot one.
And for those of you needing another option for local transportation, my friend's info: D & D Shuttle (Dave) 562-301-4842 skidrowe27@yahoo.com
Susan, I booked with Dave last week. He said he could use 2 of your car seats. Thank you so much! You are saving me from having to travel with car seats that I would not need except from port to LAX.:worship:

That's great. Glad to help out :yay:Lymommy is using 2 of them with Dave also.

Hey all, how do I come straight to this thread? When I log in I seem to have to search through the cruise then the meet then the cruise, then the cruise dates, then our date. Isn't there an easier way? I almost feel like Facebook is a faster means of communication. Maybe that is because I'm on there all the time, ha.

So thanks to everyone. Kristi, I think you caught me in time to put me down for 2 adult, 2 child wrist bands. Also, the Cabo The Office sounds like a good idea, especially chilling with fellow moms and a drink (Liserann).

Manzanillo may be a challenge, huh? I'm not one for not knowing what I'm doing in port, but if it's a choice between nothing and possibly something then I can handle waiting. Great prices, I would love to go with you guys. Not being able to call straight from the ship may be an issue. Wish the cell phone roaming wasn't costly.

White rabbit on Easter would be cool, and flashy easter treats around the ship. I emailed the mom advise lady on the Disney cruise website and she was the one that told me they do nothing except a small service, but we don't attend religious services. I have those collapsible fabric "baskets" from the stores, which will pack up really nicely with a few plastic eggs and simple candies. Might have to pass on any large stuffed toys, but someone mentioned getting souvi's in the store for E baskets. Good idea.

This is pretty cool, I am loving meeting people pre-cruise instead of a random HELLO to someone in the hot tub here and there. The gift exchange is really fun to me,too.

Kristi, you'll let us know all those details on gifts pretty soon, or closer to the cruise time? I'm trying to think of gift ideas already for the FE's. Woot woot.

Anyone hitting Dland on 4/29? I'm headed there with my best friends family, too.

Oh, I was also told by the Disneycruise.com lady that there is no birthday celebrations on board...so I guess no bday cake or any special treatment? I think I'll get a "HEY! It's my birthday!" Tshirt or something so she gets a little head nod from people, and I guess I'll lug a gift or something, too. Might resort to the souvi shops on board for that, too. It's on April 25th...Jazmin is turning 7! My big girl.

Found pirate girl costumes. I'm deciding between cute or frumpy mom pirate costume, ha ha.

Searching online for some DCL cruising tips, in case there is more out there I'm new to. Oh, I guess I need to get a jump on making magnets for my door, right? What else is a must? An extra clothes line is a savior for me so I don't have to rehang suits when I shower. Also love a shelved shoe organizer for the closet so I don't have to dive for matching childrens shoes. Also I bought a bsuit cover up finally instead of not knowing what to throw over my suit. Buying a new suit for this cruise, it's a treat. Landsend.com really has a good fit and quality, usually free shipping, lots of sizing (tall, etc) options, and free returns at Sears stores. The girls suits also cover all of their tushes, which I love!

Yay! I'm on FB a lot, find me there! Kel Fox. If anyone is from out of the country or state and I can help bring things for them, let me know. We'll be driving down to S.Cal for the trip.

Ok, so this confirms my suspicion as to why DCL canceled this many other beach excursions, or rather I bet DCL was canceled by the resorts. So, this really kinda bums me out...we've been hearing that the locals go to the beaches during holy week and that it's crazy busy...which means not much room for cruisers! UGH! Well, worst comes to worst...the ship is always fun! LOL!!!

The fastest way for me to get to the meet thread is once I log in (and that's faster if you click "remember me") I click on the "User CP" on top of the page at the far left of the blue menu bar. That takes me to all the threads I've posted on or subscribed to and since this one is so active, it's always on the top! Quick click and you're here. :surfweb:

You can tell your head server and servers about your daughter's birthday and they'll bring out a piece of cake and sing happy birthday to her. You can also buy a birthday cake to have delivered to your stateroom or to dinner, and there's a birthday decorations package available where they'll put up some streamers and other decorations in your stateroom. Pricey, but cute. You can pre-order the cake and/or decorations on the DCL website. She'll have a great birthday on the ship no matter what! :goodvibes

Dany

Thanks, Dany. I actually tried the search field this time and just searched for April 17 and saw our thread there.:cool1:

We should figure out the day and time, and have all the kids close to her age around to sing Happy Birthday, like a party with all her friends. :grouphug: My DD will be 7 in June. I think Virdis and Ann-Marie's daughter is 7 around then, too.

I suggest telling your server on your first night there. They will likely take care of you. My little guys celebrated his 3rd birthday on our last cruise (Mediterranean) and our servers brought out a small cake and along with some other servers, sang him happy birthday. It was great and Colin loved it.

Kristi, we have decided to stay with this vacation. Can you please put me down for 3? 1a 2y. I will have you mail them to me. Thanks:thumbsup2

Michelle, added you back to the wrist band list:goodvibes Did you guys want to be on the FE list?

Kel, I did get you guys down for 2a 2y wrist bands:thumbsup2
For the FE, we have a cut off date of March 1st for new people to join. I will post an FE update with all information in a few minutes.

My daughters 8th birthday is April 19th. We are going to decorate the room/door ourselves. Decorations from the Dollar Tree probably. Also we are going to have the "free" birthday cake delivered at dinner. Room service also has a cake of the day selection. We will probably get that one (or 2) times that day. Not sure what I am doing about a gift yet. I would love to give her the dolphin swim excursion in Cabo, but we can't afford it. Maybe a couple of little things she can unwrap. It is hard planning for a cruise, birthday and Easter all in one trip.

I will send you a friend request on FE:goodvibes

That makes total sense of why DCL canceled those excursions. Well, at least we know it is not because those places were unsafe. I was getting a little worried.
