Dieting for Disney

You guys are doing so great! Having a time frame goal is so awesome as it really keeps you on target. I know the weight comes off slower as you get closer to your goal and it can get discouraging, but it really is a good thing: it means you're getting close to where your body thinks it should be! Listening to your body is a new skill and very valuable as you start trying to maintain your new weights. You all can do it! Keep on the path that got you hear and you will all be looking FAB in your Mickey and Minnie swimsuits.

Cadence: if I were you I'd have a few!!!! While you can!!!!

I want to feel un-selfconscious in my swimsuit when we go to WDW in September. To do that I need to loose about 10 lbs that I've had since our 3rd baby was born a little over 2 years ago (I've kept all my pre-baby size 8's even though I've been in a 10 since then).

I was so glad to find this thread just now - I was sitting here arguing with myself over whether I should have a bowl of ice cream or not lol!

My mom and sister are doing WW, and while I don't really want to pay to go to meetings and sit there and talk about everyone's weight, I've learned a bit from them about the portions and points, and have basically been trying to cut out excess snacks and sweets. I've substituted non-fat popcorn or sugar snap peas for the little goodies I used to eat in the afternoon or evening. I'm already fitting back into my pre-pregnancy shorts & pants, but they're still a bit tight so I've got a ways to go yet.

I find that it's very difficult to find time to exercise with a baby/toddler in the house! We just bought a stationary bike, and we're working on teaching her to stay back when we're riding it. I've also been trying to take lots more walks and push her in her stroller.

Okay, so you all helped me get past my ice cream craving - thank you! I've got to go find that wish board that was mentioned, so I can go there when I'm wanting something I shouldn't!

I wanted to say that I was putting off exercising due to time for awhile...I work, and at night too tired, and definitely have been eating too much ice cream lately. But, I got myself motivated lately, and I lost my first 1 out of 19 pounds in the last week! I bought some more pilates videos, and have been doing the ab one (its only 25 min) at night when my DDs go to bed instead of eating my ice cream that I had been doing. Good luck!

Edited to add: I forgot to mention...starting last Tues, was when I started watching what I eat too...eat less, track what I eat at fitday.com, no desserts, and over the weekend bought some weight watchers microwave meals (the meatball smartwich is pretty good)...I had been exercising for awhile w/no weight loss, but now that I watch what I eat too, I'm doing much better.

Well, I'm down to about 2 months before we go, and it's now or never. I want to lose 20 lbs. before we go. That might not be possible, but since I joined WW last September, one would think I might be able to get it together. Did I mention we bought a treadmill last month? No excuses but lack of focus for me. But, 9 weeks out, 2 lbs. per week, I could just about do it if I start right now! :hourglass

I did lose 10 lbs., but I have plenty to go.

That's it, I'm officially banning cookies, chips and candy from my diet. New wardrobe for Disney, here I come! :flower:

I just got back from the gym and I have finally reached my goal. 3 weeks ago, I had set a goal to loose 10 pounds before we leave this Friday night. Well, I finally have done it. I believe this thread has helped keep me motivated. BUt I still have a few days left. I am not through yet. I am going to try to loose a few more pounds. I know it is terrible but I am planning on going to Beaches & Cream to get the Kitchen Sink Sundae  when we get down there. So I guess that has been part of my motivation as well. So with that in mind, I will keep doing my crunches and cardio until I just can't go anymore. It is also getting me ready for all the walking you do in the parks. When everyone else is tired and winded from all the walking, I will be able to keep on going just like the Energizer Bunny.

Dancing my way to POP in 4 days :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :rockband:

I have been needing to lose some weight for quite awhile. I would try diets, do fine for a week or 2, fall off the wagon and quit. I found the key to losing weight the right way.

I cannot do it alone.

I joined a locally owned place that teaches healthy eating where you eat 5-6 times a day, and they have a gym where you have a personal trainer. Yeseterday marked the beginning of my 4th week on the program and I am doing awesome. :)

This thread is great! Everyone is so helpful and full of information. Since starting the thread I have been swimming everyday for 45 minutes and I am following my core plan more closely. :cool1:

We have 107 days until our trip. I woud like to lose 20 lbs. before we go. I have been walking everyday at work for 30 mins. with my friend who is also a big Disney fan. :earsgirl: I hope this link will keep me motivated! :earsgirl:

Its been 9 days now since I started being more serious about losing weight for Disney. I really need to lose about a pound a week to make it to my goal of 19 lbs. I've been watching what I eat more closely, and doing Pilates videos - an Ab one, and a lower body workout one. I love them, because they're both about 25 min each. So far...2.5 lbs down! yay! Now just have to keep with it. Good luck to everyone!

By the way, a HUGE help in losing and maintaining weight is the realization that you don't need to clean your plate. Eat to satisfaction, then don't worry about it. I had a wonderful anniversary meal, which involved leaving some lovely asparagus, a little steak, and about half a peice of cheesecake. But I was very satisfied, got to taste what I wanted, wasn't deprived at all.

In the past, I've had the attitude "I've paid for it! I don't want to waste it!" But now I realize that what I am doing is ending up stuffed and uncomfortable, plus adding weight that I'm going to have to remove later by depriving myself of something I want then.

This thread is what it took to finally inspire me!! :cool1: I started back on WW this Tuesday and have some extra "deals" going on to help motivate...

For every 2 lbs. I lose, DH is buying me $10.00 in Disney Dollars (I only need to lose 10 lbs, but it's still $50. Disney Dollars  )

My sister and I said that we each want to lose 10lbs. by 9/2-if I don't, I pay her $20. and vice versa.

I've been walking 2 miles 6am each morning-eating well-and feel great!! :cool1:

Oh...and the last (and best) "deal"...once I've lost the 10lbs., I've coaxed my DH to agree that I will book our 2006 trip!!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :cool1:  :bounce:

I am glad to read that I am not the only one struggling. I reached goal weight at WW about a month ago and have gained back 10 lbs.I just now decided to stop moping and lose it before my trip.I know how to do it- it is really hard to DO it though.Don't know if I am making any sens. One of those days. :confused3

Congratulations on reaching your goal weight! That is something that feels like a dream for me. If you did it once, you know you can do it again!

It is really hard, if it wasn't we would all just do it. Right now, every time a make a good choice, I tell myself this is getting me closer to where I want to be for our trip, when I know good choices will go out the window!

If you can work out together that would help I think. Its hard for women to get motivated..espeically if you get interrupted cause of the kids and life in general. but, working together as a team and having goals together works great. Also, my experience has been that definition isn't all about exercises...its a lot about your diet. I'm not saying to diet, but diet in the true sense of the word...what you eat. Do you eat processed foods, fast food, etc? Try to eat whole foods, and brown grains, lots of water, and maybe up your cardio a bit. Also, if you can do tons of crunches, you may have bulk there but not the definition because of the type of training you've been doing. And, some people never get that 6-pack...even at my ideal wight, i still have a pudge and that was before kids.
