Dieting for Disney

I'm one of those people that NEED a scale almost every day....seems to keep me more on track.
I have also found keeping a food log is an important part of my success. I am down 15lbs. and just can't wait until the next 3 are gone because I am breaking a milestone for myself.
I hope everyone is doing well...Monday my goal is to call and set up a pilates class this week.

Everyone enjoy your Sunday, I have a black tie and am curious if people will notice or comment on any weight change.

I am a little :confused3 by the pool of water thing. What happened? I have a scale, but I only let myself get on it once a week - Mondays. You don't really need a scale; you can probably go in once a week, every other week, or once a month to a weight check at your dr.'s office. My dr. does it for free and there is also a scale at our local gym. DH is the one who wanted the scale. The first one that we bought was terrible. First, you would get one weight, but if you stepped on it again, you might be 5 lbs heavier or lighter. We tossed that one out and bought a more expensive one that supposedly tells you how hydrated you are. Since it is electronic, it reads weight as pounds and ounces. It has only varied by .4 oz. I would say that is pretty good.

My scale is in the bathroom right next to the shower. And if you don't keep the shower curtain right up against the wall, water goes everywhere.. Hense the pool of water.

I don't have a doctor... I don't go to a doctor... so I doubt it will be free for me. And I'm also not part of a gym. If I was I'd use their scale.

I need the scale for reassurance. I haven't lost any weight for the month of April, but all the clothes I was so happy about fitting into... they don't fit me again. Too tight.

I guess I could live without my scale, but I probably would give up since I don't see results.

You know, it's weird.. because I actually didn't put on any weight for about 2 or 3 years (I lost count). But I had to keep buying bigger and bigger clothes.

I am thinking my weightloss for April is more muscle built than no weight loss at all. And I also think that's why my clothes don't fit so well either. I was building the muscle but not losing the fat. But I don't know if that makes sense in my tummy area. Because all I was doing was hiking. Do you build a lot of muscle in your tummy when hiking?

Since the beginning of April... I get on my scale generally twice a week. My real weigh in day is Sundays. But I weigh in on Fridays for the Dising Weightloss Club.

Congrats on all the weight losses!

It seems like everyone is on track and even if there
is a setback every now and then, the goal is to
just start fresh the next day! Way to go everyone!

I'm a bit slower with the miles since vaca.
I was still able to get in 68 miles - bike/wogging
but some good hours with pilates/core/abs.

I'm not sure what's happened with our team's
spreadsheet, so I don't know for certain on my miles
for the month. I did break double digits on vacation,
so that made me proud!

I weighed in Friday because I'm challenging myself
to a:
1 month cheat free and exercise every day challenge!
My bday is in a month and I want to look and feel the best
that I can. One month is a short term goal and I'm
going to do my best:goodvibes

Have a great weekend everyone:hippie:

Down 1 pound for last week.

That's great! One pound gone is one pound gone. When I lost my first 5 lbs., I went into my closet and picked up my 5 lb. weight. I sat there and held it in each hand and walked around with it. The point was to understand how much weight I really lost; how much was gone from my body. Five pounds does not sound like much and you can not really see the difference, however my perspective changed after I held that weight in my hands.

I am not really aware how much muscle is gained and where when you hike, but I would naturally assume that most of the muscle that you might gain would be in the legs. BUT, if you do a lot of hiking up hill, you tend to also use your ab and back muscles as well.

Have you noticed any other physical changes?

I agree that any weight loss is a great loss. I'm just not so happy that my current weight is higher than what it was a couple weeks ago. But at least I'm still under 190!

The trail we do take is pretty much flat. The inclines are not very steep. But we had to change course and the new course does include a decently steep climb... not sure how long it is.

I do agree also that the muscle would be in the legs... but I don't know.

Hey everyone! I know I have been MIA for the last few days. I have been dealing with "internet interuptus". But it is back up now and hopefully, it will stay.

I don't think I can cover everyone's posts but I will say that it seems like everyone is on the right track. Any loss is an encouragement an means that you are getting closer to your goals. That's what we have to remember. We have got to keep our long term goals in sight but don't forget our short-term goals. Those are our footsteps to reaching a whole new level of health and vitality.

My Update I have gotten on the bad habit of taking the weekend off from going to the gym for the last couple of weeks. I will do 5 days straight during the week and then rest and recuperate on the weekend. It has been making me a lot stronger at the beginning of the week for my strength training but I feel like I am falling short on my cardio. But here is the good news. I took a half day off today and was able to get to the gym early so I took advantage of it. I did a little more than an hours worth of strength training and ab work. Then (as if that wasn't enough) I did 2 hours of cardio on the bike for 37 miles and 1200 calories. I weighed myself before and after and my weight actually dropped 3 pounds just from today's workout. I know it was all water weight but that was motivating.

I hope everyone else is having a great week so far. I just want you all to know that this team is amazing and I am very proud to be associated with all of you! Keep up the excellent work!!:grouphug: :cheer2: :woohoo:

Way to go Bryan!

BeckWhy- You're doing great! Try not weighing in for 2 weeks and just
go by how your clothes are fitting. If you're exercising, eating well,
getting 1/2 your weight in ounces in water in, then don't worry...
It'll come off:goodvibes

Amyz00- you're a great motivator here! Thanks for the positive
motivation for everyone:banana:

NEVERENOUGHWDW- I'm sure those last 3 pounds will be gone soon:wizard:

as for me... doing good, on track, lovin' life and my disfamily :)

Hi Everyone!

WOW Bryan, great going.

Thank you everyone for your support. I had to throw a black tie Sunday night (for work) and I stayed right on target. I ate before I went, had some fruit while there and then had my meal when I returned home.
Now the next challenge is DH & I are going to Sanibel Saturday until Tuesday night so I know we will walk alot and maybe bike...I am planning to bring our Nutra-System with us and we will buy the fruit, bottled water & veggies when we get there.

Great Job Everyone!:cool1:

Hey everyone! Sorry for being MIA for the last few days. I have had a lot of stuff going on at work, home and still trying to get my workouts in. Honestly though, yesterday my body just told me to go home and rest. It needed some down time. But I still had a good week. I did more than 100 miles worth of cardio and I did about 4 hours worth of lifting. Trust me when I say that I can feel all of it too. The most exciting news for me is that I can see the differences now. My body is transforming into the look that I have always wanted. I may never be leaned out to the point of having 6% bodyfat and an 8 pack of abs but that is ok. I would like to just be able to go without my shirt on and not have someone think, "Why doesn't tubby put his clothes back on? Nobody wants to see that!"

Oh well. Enough of me rambling on and on. You are all doing great. I am very excited what this year is going to hold for this group. I think a lot of goals and dreams will be met and that is wonderful!!:woohoo:

Last thing: To all of you mothers out there that come on to DFD at anytime, I want to wish you a sincere and well deserved HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!

the determination, and the will
to become the person you believe you were meant to be."

Have a good night everyone:goodvibes

I've been gone for a few days due to finals, but I can finally say that it is over! Plus, I GRADUATED!!!!!! YIPPEEEEEEE!!! :cheer2:

Alright, today was my official weigh-in day. As you can imagine, last week was horrific. I had so much work to do - nine essays to write, three finals, one annotated bibliography (40 required), the kids' schools, DH, and training the puppy. Between all of that plus walking the stage, I was completely worn out. So to all of that stress add one helping of not counting my calories. I figured that I would an increase in my numbers, but I didn't. I am still at the exact same weight as I was two weeks ago. I haven't exercised i the last week and a half and I know that had something to do with it. I am glad that I did not gain, though one pound gone would have been great.

My next goal is to lose at least 5 lbs. by June 15th. That is a little more than one month away, but I will do it. Anything more is just a big bonus!

Here is some good news! I received a job offer last Friday and promptly took it! I will be working for Interior Designer Michael Stribling who is going to be on HGTV's Design Star!! I am not sure what my title will be, but it will be something like Business Manager. Isn't that just awesome?! :woohoo: I am so excited! :yay: This gives me more of an incentive to lose the weight because I will be working for a TV star/personality!

So here's to a great week, everyone! Think positive, happy thoughts! Be kind to yourself and to those around you. Live your life to the fullest and enjoy it!;)

Amyz00 That is great!! Congratulations on Graduating!!:cheer2: :yay: :woohoo:  :cool1: Too many of us idiots (that's me and only me) only wish they would have stayed in College to get that degree and never did. I applaud you for your determination and sacrifice. Plus, with that, you have been trying to get a healthier lifestyle as well. You really do have an inner strength that is very motivating. Again, let me say congratulations!!

Twotoohappy Your quote is wonderful. Very motivating. And what you said on the other thread is very much appreciated. I have said it before and I will say it again, knowing a little bit about what your days are like and what you have gone through has made a profound impact on my exercise routines. (I just wish I could have been that HOT guy.:rotfl2: You know my whole issue with self-esteem that I have had for so long.)

Update I don't know if I will be able to go to the gym tomorrow or not. As soon as I get off work, I have a Chiro appointment and then I have a dinner engagement with the Mayor of the City that I live in. (I am in a volunteer group and he has invited all of the members that has donated at least 1000 hours and I am one of them.) I guess I don't have to go but it is a free steak dinner so I think I will go. I have tried to make up for it in the last 2 days. I have done 60 miles on the bike and about 600 sit-ups. My stomach really hurts right now but if it will tighten my abs some more, I am all for the pain.

I hope everyone is having a great week so far. I know it has just started but we can still make this an awesome week! Let's get out there and JUST DO IT!!!!!

I'm so excited about your new job! I can't wait to hear details!

Now if only I could find a good paying job in Disney World.... :)

Can I change my reward? Originally my reward was going to be a trip to WDW... but I'll go to Disney anyways... but I found something else I love... a new CAR (could actually be new, which is what i really want, or can just be a newer car than what i have)! I know a new car is kinda steep, but I save all my money anyways and I'll get a new job or promotion within a year, so I have plenty of time to save up! Plus I get a new car with my new job!

I test drove the new Altima coupe... V6 270 hp, HIDs, turn signals in the mirrors, heated leather seats, keyless start... omg I am in love. And I don't even like coupes or Nissans (well, its not that I don't like Nissans, its just I would prefer to buy an American car). I am on cloud nine right now!

I wanna check out the Honda Accord too, but I don't think it comes with HIDs.

Hi Everyone!

It's almost Friday!!!!!!!:cool1: DH & I were away for 4 days and it was the first time I traveled since the start of my new eating program and I actually lost (just a few ounces). This will be the first of many weekends away this summer so I was a little nervous but we did it. As you know I am on NutriSystem so we packed all our food except for dinner which we had out every night. Right after leaving the airport in Florida we stopped at the grocery store to stock up on bottled water, Crystal Light, tea bags & plenty of veggies & fruits.

I am just shy of the 20lb loss marker and that is the first goal I set for myself so I will really be excited when it happens!!!! If you hear a loud screech one morning over the weekend it might be me!!!!!!!

;)Maria;)

GREAT JOB MARIA!!!

It is so good to hear of everyone's successes! I have not been on in a little while. And I feel bad about that:sad2: But, I am trying to just pick up and keep going. You all may not remember me, but I hope I can still be a part!

I wish I could say that I am doing great and still working on my goal...but that would only be half true...:rolleyes1

I have stopped eating right as I once did.....I have become a junk food junkie again!!popcorn::  I am going to Mcdonald's all the time and feeling the effects it is having.

The good news is that I am still going to Water Aerobics 3x a week!:yay: I have broken through the hour mark and now go to 90 min. without any trouble. I am a little tired at the end but impressed at the end. Starting in June I am increasing the days to 4 instead of 3 and at the same 90 min.:woohoo:

But in all, I am ready to get back into the game!!!! I am getting very excited to be getting to WDW at New Years and I want to be down at least 15% by then. (aka 60 lbs in 6 months) hey, I like the sound of that...60 in 6!!!:goodvibes

Allright party people....KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!! I am so proud of you all!:grouphug:
