Dieting for Disney

Hi Gang,

Just checking in, hope you are all doing well and having a successful weekend!

I am still holding strong at a 10lb plateau but I want to share something that happened yesterday.
DH & I went to an antique fair and I hadn't realized how my weight gain had effected everything in my life. I felt like I was no longer hiding (as much) I was more comfortable in my own skin...great feeling. I have started to feel more like me!

Enjoy your Sunday!:goodvibes

I feel like you are a long distance sister everytime I read your posts. It is almost like we are sharing the same brain because we have sooo many of the same thoughts.

I say the same thing everyday! I think we're related somehow!!!!!

Congrats to everyone losing weight!
After reading all the posts it seems like it's been
a big loss week!!!!
Keep up the good work:goodvibes

Hi everyone!!!

Hope all your weeks are off to a great start! I've been missing you guys. I hope to be around here more often. I just booked a trip to Vegas! Woohoo!!! I want to be in tiptop shape for that trip so I've better get going! I ran 6km this morning so I'm off to a great start. A BIG thank you to everyone for your motivation. I need it! ;)

Have a great week!

Amy: we are here to help each other! :)

Since Sunday is my official weigh in day, I have to say standing on the scale this morning left me in shock. I'm down 4 pounds from last week! Part of me is really excited! But another part of me thinks its unhealthy to lose so much weight. All I did was go for a couple hikes and watch my calories...

As for my plans this week, its supposed to snow again, ick, and rain... so perhaps I'll do some kickboxing until it warms up later in the week.

Good luck to everyone this week!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

That is great!! Hiking really does help because you are getting out there and moving. Watching your calories, I have found, is the most important thing that anyone can do. It helps you to become more aware of what and how much you are eating.

I love reading success stories - they help to keep me motivated as well!

It's supposed to be really nice this week (knock on wood) and I'm planning a trip to Allegheny State Park to go on a long hike. I'm not quite sure how long it is, I have to look it up.. either 5 or 8 miles.

I have to find out though.. on a normal day I eat between 1200 & 1500 calories.. but on a day that I do a 5 mile hike.. I'm sure I'm supposed to eat more than that...

Hey everyone! I am going to make a quick note and let you know what is going on. I just got back from having an MRI done on my neck and it seems that I have a bulging disc. I can't really get anything done medically until tomorrow and I am not sure of what it will be then. What I do know is that I am having to take some time off from the gym to let this issue be resolved. I am going to stay focused on my eating habits to make sure that I do not put any of the weight back on but it will be a while before I can actually get back in and do my lifting and cardio.

I just wanted to let everyone know. I will still be around. I just won't be as active for a little bit.

Thanks everyone!
Bryan

Bryan -

I am so sorry to hear about your findings. Thanks goodness, though, that this is something that can be handled and corrected. Don't overdo it and take care of yourself. :goodvibes

Just wanted to let you all know that I lost one pound!! To some, this might be silly, but to me it's a major accomplishment; another step closer to my goal! :thumbsup2

Monday is my official weigh-in day. I was a little nervous before stepping onto the scale, plus I made sure that there that I was wearing nothing heavy! So I can now officially say that I have lost 5 lbs. in all! By the time we leave for our trip, I plan to have lost a total of 12 lbs (but will try hard for 15 lbs).

Keep up the good work everyone! Oh, and for this week I plan to:

Think positive thoughts and walk more!

Well, I realized my trip to Disney World... if it happens (more on that in a minute) might be a bit difficult. I have gone to a couple of restaurants (both fast food and table service) and they haven't agreed with my tummy. I'm just curious how eating in restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is going to affect my body for that week I'm gone.

So about my trip... well its not that I don't think it will happen, it might have to happen earlier or later. I mentioned to my manager how I was planning a trip to reward my weightloss. She asked when I was planning on going and I said somewhere around Nov 12 - Nov 19. She said that November and December are black out months because of Black Friday and Christmas, but thought that we could probably work something out. I would return a week and a half before Black Friday anyways (you think I'm gonna hit WDW around Thanksgiving?).

If I have to, I'll go at the end of October, though I wanted to avoid October because of the F&WF. Plus my weightloss won't be so much. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Hey everyone! I have got GREAT news. I got the official readout on the MRI today. It came back negative. No bulging discs or herniated discs so that is good. Now we are still having the issue with some severe pain but that is a lot off of my mind. I went to the doctor today and they gave me some medications to try to help me feel better and sleep. If it takes effect the way we are hoping, I can start doing some more cardio in a couple of days. This is good so I can do my cancer walk this weekend. I will let you know more as it comes about.

I do want to thank you all for all of the well wishes and thoughts. I felt every one of them. They really mean a lot to me. Thanks again!!

Bryan

Bryan- I'm glad everything is ok:goodvibes take it easy and heal!

Amy - congrats on the weight loss:thumbsup2

Becky- WDW at Thanksgiving is a ZOO!
I'd go during F/W, it's not that crowded.
We went this year Veterans Day week and the crowds were minimal!
The first week in Dec. is the most crowded for DVC people
also, the first full week in Dec. is Pop Warner week :headache:
(lots of little football players and cheerleaders - I'd avoid it!)

happy day everyone:hippie:

I never said I was going during the week of Thanksgiving.. I would never even consider it. I said I was planning the 12th - 19th which is a week and half before Black Friday. I would miss F&WF, Jersey Week, and I believe I would miss Pop Warner. Going in December is definately out of the question... My manager told me all of November and December is blackout.

Wonderful news Bryan!!! Thanks for letting us know - we've been concerned. Best wishes on the cancer walk this weekend. Mine is the following weekend. Take care!

I have my biggest challenge that I will have to face since joining this group. I am going to go stay at my cousin's and take care of her dog while her and her family goes to Disney World. It's a challenge because all she has is JUNK food... and I'll be by myself... and bored... and maybe without internet. The junk food is the hardest part of it all though I will admit. Its stuff I don't ever see so I'm always like.. I'll have some.. blah blah blah... and eat some then before you know it.. 23984793841947023 calories consumed for the day.

I started to get better when I would babysit for her.. but the fact I'll be staying there... I'm kinda scared.

But she does have a gym in her house.. so that's a plus!

Just do your best to stay focused. I know how hard it can be. I have a big problem with ice cream. If it's in the house, I will eat it. But, I bought the kids some fudge bars the other day and I am proud to say that I have not touched a single one! If you must allow yourself a treat, pick something that tends to be lower in calories anyway. Try having a piece of Angel food cake -it's low in fat and calories (especially the sugar free ones). Make a little strawberry shortcake out of it using fresh strawberries and fat-free Cool Whip. If I eat a treat, I only allow myself to have it at a certain time only if I have not gone over my caloric allotment.

Stay positive and focused and try not to allow yourself to get bored because that's when our minds are not focused on anything else and we (and I mean me) tend to think about food and what's in the pantry and/or frige. You can do it!!! You've been doing so well with your intake and hiking. Keep it up and make use of your cousin's exercise equipment. And if you feel the need to snack, get out of the house!!!;)

Hide the women and children everyone cause I'M BACK!!!!!
It's true. My neck is feeling really good. I went back to the gym tonight and did 30 miles on the bike, nonstop. I feel wonderful too. I plan on going back tomorrow and doing the same thing, do the cancer walk on Saturday and then start lifting again on Sunday. Man, I missed it!! I had such a high just getting back in there tonight.

I also want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. You are all an amazing bunch of friends and I just can't thank you enough. I will come back tomorrow and catch up then. I just wanted to give a quick update!

Thanks everyone!!
Bryan:grouphug: :cheer2:

Hey Gang! I was going to give a quick update and let you know that I did my Cancer Walk today. I wasn't there for the whole thing (which was 3 hours) but I did put in 5 miles while I was there. I was pretty happy seeing how this was the first time I have ever done anything like that before.

Also, I talked with Twotoohappy a little today. She is having a great time while at WDW. Let me tell you what kind of "animal" she is though. Her she is on vacation and she still got up this morning and did a 5 mile walk/run and 15 miles on the bike. That is dedication to really wanting to be fit. I am so proud of her and what she has accomplished.

Here it is the end of another week. How did we do as a group? Did we meet/exceed our goals or did we let ourselves down? What can we do in this upcoming week to make it better than last? Any ideas?

The floor is open to suggestions and ideas!

Bryan
