Dieting for Disney

The CT scan went well. Thx Cam for the info!
How's your weight loss going Bluesdad?
You are so welcome Liz. I lost more weight today! I know I shouldn't weigh myself all the time but I haven't worked out and felt I cheated a bit and wanted to see the damage before tomorrow's weigh in LOL. I lost 2 more LBS!!:cool1: :woohoo: That brings my total to 14 LBS now and that much closer to my 50 LB loss goal by June.

*sheepishly shuffles in*

Hi all. Sorry for being MIA. I've actually still been checking in on all of you, but haven't posted myself. My only excuse is having the post-vacation blues! How silly is that! I've been so lucky with vacations recently, that I really feel guilty about feeling this way. I'm so busy this week however, so I have no choice but to snap out of this rut. Thanks for thinking of me!!

twotoohappy - Glad to hear the CT went well. Hope you're feeling better.

bluesdad - Way to go on that weightloss!!!!!! I need to get myself in gear and get with your program!!

munkyme - Way to go on that exercise! Believe it or not, I've never tried the elliptical before!! I should give it a go and give my knees a rest from the treadmill.

bubba - Congrats on your exercise too! What a wonderful idea to join the challenge with twotoohappy. I'm glad to hear your neck is feeling better. Keep up the great work!

Well, I'm determined to have a good week. I ran 3.4 miles this morning and had a very healthy breakfast. I need to do well this week since last week (food wise) was such a mess. Dh has to go away this week on business, so hopefully I'll have a little more time to my quest to a healthier me! Have a great week!!

CJKWelcome back from your MIA status. I can say that I am jealous of all of the vactions that you have been able to take. It really sounds like you have had a wonderful time. It is hard to get back on track from a relaxing trip but knowing what you did on your trip is more than most of us will ever do. I have all of the faith in the World in you and your determination to stay healthy. Good Luck!

Bluesdad 14 pounds is fantastic. Way to go! It sure sounds like the Biggest Loser info and support is working wonders. I can honestly say that there is nothing more motivating for me than when I am doing my cardio sessions while watching the show. Watching people lose that kind of weight in a week shows determination, exercise and a proper diet can do. I know you will succeed and I know we will are all here behind you 1000%.:woohoo:

Update I have a great string going for this week. I have been to the gym everyday so far. I still have a small issue with my kneck but I can move it. I am hitting the weights again and it really is feeling good. Plus, I am doing anywhere between 45 - 60 minutes a day of cardio. I am doing more for distance and time in the gym to help my team but by doing so, I am helping myself too.

Ok guys! We are a little more than 1/2 way thru February. We are way past where most people stop their New Year's Resolution's for being healthy. They have lost their motivation. Their strive. Even their concern for their health. We are different. We are not on a diet! We are on a lifestyle change. That is why we succeed where others fail. We are not on "fad" diets. So here is my question. Tomorrow is Wednesday. We are 1/2 way thru the week. Give me a plan for the rest of the week to make it your most productive so far. Let's not get into a lull and get bored with what we do. Let's keep it fun and exciting but even more than that. LET'S KEEP MOVING!

Love ya!

Nice Job:thumbsup2

:worship: You got me beat by 3.5 miles this week

I'm so going to rack up the miles this week ;)

How's everyone else doing?

:woohoo: :woohoo: I am SOOOO excited. Today was a great day at the gym. I have already done my full body workout so today was just cardio. I was able to do another 13 miles on the bike in 1 hour. That's good and everything but that isn't what I am most excited about. Since Liz and I started this competition, I have dropped 17 pounds. I have been watching what I eat but I haven't been neglecting myself either. Doing all of this cardio has been keeping me very hungry so it has been hard to keep my calories down. I guess I am still burning more than I am digesting so the weight is still coming off. I am only about 10 pounds away from my goal weight.

Plus, I have been told about a 5k run/walk is coming up in a city nearby and a friend of mine is going to be in it. He told me about it yesterday at the gym and assured me that a lot of the participants go at a slow pace. I am debating about doing it as that is something I have been wanting to do for a while now. I am concerned about the jarring on my knee so I am going to start doing more treadmill work to try to get ready. I will let you know if I do it or not but I am really leaning towards doing it.

Twotoohappy You look like you have had a great week but I beat by a little more than 3.5 miles. My total for the week was 63 miles. Big Vic has posted our weekly results and our team made some improvement this week but we are still behind. Let's see what you and I can do to kick it into overdrive and move up a couple of placements before the next posting. I know you can do it. Let's get out there and show them what DFD and The Triple D's can do!

What about eveyone else? What's happening with everyone?

You Rock!!!!!!
I knew I picked the right person to join this competition with!
17 pounds is incredible!

as far as the 5k.... Do it!!!!!
Doing a race is a great feeling, and a little addicting,
plus you get double the miles for the competition!
I'm thinking you and the family should come down for
marathon weekend and do the Family Safari 5k!

The DFD team should definitely try to be the top 2
mileage people at least once in this competition.
Not an easy job with a few of them putting up huge numbers!

How's everyone else doing?
CJK, Bluesdad, MunkyMe13?

Bubba - WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You've done remarkably well and you just don't let anything stop you. What an inspiration!!

Twotoohappy - How's that running going?

I had a great week last week getting back into gear, but then had a rough weekend. We were crazy busy travelling around the province visiting with family and friends. We had no time to rest (read: no time to eat well or exercise!!), so the ground that I gained was lost in 2 days. *sigh* I feel good tonight as I prepare for another week to come. It will be good!! My workout clothes are right beside my bed so I'll be on that treadmill by 7:15am tomorrow!

How's everyone else doing? Here's to a great week to come for everyone!

Good luck on your workout... Keep moving forward!!! No looking back... no excuses... Whats done is done... Why do we spend time justifying it? Sh*t happens. As we say at work, "next!". lol! :rotfl2: :lmao:

As for me I lost some weight over the weekend and gained .6 today... no idea why but it will be gone with week... I am .8 lb away from my monthly goal of 10 lbs lost... Since January I have lost 27.4 lbs... :cheer2: I'm so happy with my progress... Missed a week at the gym last week due to my terrible cold but I am back with a vengeance today! woohoo!!

Have a magical day! pixiedust:

Is it too late to join the group?

It's great to see how everyone is doing and how supportive everyone is in this group.

I started my "lifestyle change" in April 2007, so it's been 10 months for me. Just this past weekend, I finally hit the 50 pound loss mark. It's been a long road, especially for someone who could have lived on cheese lovers pizza most days of the week. I have 15 more pounds to lose to get to my original goal.

I started by basically walking once or twice a day for about 30 minutes. Little by little I started eating better as well. Now I walk for 20-30 minutes most mornings, and then walk for 30 minutes in the evening. I also watch what I eat very closely, and also eat healthy snacks in between meals so that I am not "starving" by the time the next meal comes.

I would really like to add additional exercises into the mix. Right now I either walk outside (when the weather isn't freezing...gotta love Wisconsin), or usually on the treadmill. I am thinking of buying either a exercise bike or elliptical machine. I would really like to do more strength training, but have debated a lot about joining a gym. Still considering that, as my house does not have enough room for a weight machine.

Well, that's a little about me. I'm glad I found this thread, it is VERY motivating!

Chad

KERdad06 :cheer2: That is fantastic!!:cheer2: 50 pounds is an awesome achievement. As far as joining our family, you are more than welcomed! It sounds like you have a very successful plan going (obviously by what you have been able to do) but I do have one question. Are you taking any kind of vitamins? This is very important for overall health, if you are not. As far as joining a gym, I recommend it for several reasons. Now, the financial portion only you can answer. Otherwise, the additional motivation you can get from a gym is invaluable. Every gym has someone that you can look at as a goal so you can follow their lead. Plus, it is amazing how friendly most people at the gym are. If you have a question, most are more than willing to help. I always look for those people that look like they need a little pointer here or there to help them get the most out of their exercise. At the same time, I am always asking for advice to be able to change up my workouts to keep my body guessing. Ok. That's enough for the intro. Please feel free to post any questions, successes or even concerns you may have. You will find out that we are a big family here and we all want you to succeed in whatever your goals may be.

MunkyMe13 Almost 28 pounds in less than 2 months is great. I am so proud of you. That is a testiment to your willpower and determination to be a healthier and happier person. I am also very happy that you are feeling better. In a way, I am going thru the same thing this week. DW is down with a respitory infection. It is bad enough to make it where I can't even sleep in the same room. Well, I try to be a good husband so I am taking the couch and letting her stay in the bed. I am hoping she feels better soon though. That couch is very uncomfortable to try to sleep on. Here is some pixiedust: to you getting back at it this week.

Update I haven't missed a day at the gym in the last 10 days. In that time I have done 5 hours of weight training, 10 hours of cardio and have traveled 108 miles. My distances at the gym are getting close to round trip status back and forth to work. On top of that, people are starting to notice a difference. My clothes are looser and I feel great. Bad news is that I have a function with my volunteer group tomorrow night and I won't be able to exercise. It will be my first day to miss and I am not happy about that. I am really getting obsessed again about my workouts but that is a good thing. With the physical differences that is taking place, I am extremely happy.

That's it for now. What's going on with the rest of you? Let us here from all of you soon.

Bryan

I am so there!! I went this last summer with my family to WDW and had to rent an ECV for the entire week we were there because i could not handle all the walking. (But i did fine on my honeymoon just the year before) So, this year we are going at Christmas time and I have made myself a promise to be ready and to be fit for my trip. :-) I have started a Water Aerobics class and have changed my diet. Next stop: NEW LIFE! Thanks for being so motivating!

Its never too late to start with the group! grats on hitting th 50 lb mark!!! :dance3: If you want to strength train and don't have a lot of room spark people lists workouts where all you need is a set of dumbells, one of those big balls, and a resistance band. I highly recommend the elliptical... it burns sooo many more calories than the treadmill! Good luck and welcome!!!

Congrats on not missing time at the gym!!!! I'm so sorry your DW is sick... thats a bummer... I'm working on healthier... Happier might take a bit more lol! I'm working on the all around picture tho. Thanks for taking the time to post to me a bit :)

Congratulations on all your successes so far! What eating plans are you on? I hope you keep coming back and tell us how you're doing! Keep up the great work! :thumbsup2

MunkyMe13 - In a word.............WOW! You've lost so much weight already! You've a wonderful addition to this thread since you're so motivated and inspiring. Keep it up!!

Bubba - Hearing about all your exercise and fitness success, makes me wish we lived close enough to exercise together! No doubt you could show me a thing or two. Talk about inspiring! I hope your DW feels better soon.

The last couple days have been great food and exercise wise. I usually find the work week MUCH easier than the weekends. I wish my motivation would continue through the weekends. My clothes would appreciate it! ;)

How's everyone else doing?

Thanks for having me! :yay: Basically the eating plan that I am on is a recommendation from my doctor. She has teamed me with a nutritionist and has developed a low sodium, low fat, high fiber diet. It sounds very bland and hopeless but thankfully it is not. i have learned in a few weeks how tasty it can be. I never used to watch the labels and now my DH and I watch everything. I would like to say that I was the one who wanted to start the diet but I wasn't. But now, i know it works. I eat much smaller and more frequent meals and snacks than I used to. Overall, I think I am finally seeing a light. Also, I only eat a sweet once a week and have stopped soda completely. (I never liked diet sodas) My stationary life has gotten better and now I do water aerobics 3x a week. Ok, more than anyone wanted to know about me bur I am just trying to be a light for someone else who may need the motivation.

Keep up the great work everyone!! We can all do it!:woohoo:

:yay: I am soooo excited about all of the new members that we have here!!:woohoo: I think it's funny how a little while back it seemed like we were about to loose this thread due to either business or lack of interest. Now, we have had a population explosion! I don't think we have had this many active members since it's inception. It is so awesome the energy that I am getting from each and everyone of you everyday as I log onto the web. I think about you during the day so you fuel my fire to get thru work and make it where I workout harder. Then, when I am exhausted and feel like I can't do another step or even another day, I come home and read all of the new posts and get fired up all over again. You people are better than coffee for giving me my daily energy boost. I just hope or wish that I could repay that same kind of energy. so with that being said, I know I told all of you that I would have to skip the gym tonight because of my annual banquet with the volunteer group that I am in. Well, I thought about all of you all day. I thought about the success that Kerdad06 is having, MunkyMe13 and Bluesdad's phenominal drive and determination. I read about our newest member:EvitaW and what she wants to accomplish. And I think about two people that have been here with us a while: My sisters CJK and Twotoohappy. Well with all of that positive energy I had to go to the gym after the banquet. It was getting kind of late but I was able to get in a light but quick cardio workout. I didn't get as much distance as I have been getting because I changed machines but I feel like I got a good calorie burn.

So again, let me just say a quick Thank You for all that you have done for me. Now, the week is half over. Let's get out there and finish it off STRONG!!

Bryan

It's great to get new people in here. Post often!

Hey All!

Everyone's doing great around here! I can't believe how
fast this thread's moving:thumbsup2

Bubba - nice work on the gym! You're a great asset to the team!

CJK - Stay good on the weekdays and then it's ok to cheat a bit on the weekends :goodvibes

MunkyMe13- I'm sure you'll make that extra .8 for your goal! Keep up the good work and love high spirits! Motivation is key!

Bluesdad - How's it going?

about me..... the CT scan came back with no big issue,
just sinusitis and some other annoying stuff, but no "bad" stuff!
I'm doing well at the gym, eating pretty good and hoping to put
up some good mileage tomorrow!
Keep up the good work everyone; I'm exhausted and going to sleep:hug:

Morning all!

Hope everyone's having a great day so far. I've come down with a bit of a cold, but I'm still hoping to do a squat/weights routine in a little while.

twotoohappy - GREAT news about the CT scan. It must be a relief for you. Hope you feel better fast. Congrats on keeping up with your exercise and healthy eating! :thumbsup2

Evita_W - Great eating plan! Eating smaller meals more often seems to be one of the best ways to live. Thanks for the inspiring words. Cograts on giving up soda too. I'm still working on my diet soda addiction!

MunkyMe - How's your week going?

bubba - Congrats on getting that workout in on a day where you didn't think you would. It's precisely your story that is encouraging me to do a light workout today even when I'm not feeling well. Thank you oh fearless leader!

Hope everyone's having a great week!
