Dieting for Disney

Hey everyone! I hope all of you are doing well. I have to share the fact that I have come up in a "bump" in the road. Yesterday, on my way into work, I was involved in a 3 car wreck. I had a Ford Expedition hit me in my Fusion. (Little bit of a mismatch.) My car is really messed up:( and I don't know what is going to happen as of yet since I have not been contacted by her insurance yet. Otherwise, I am ok for the most part. I am very sore this morning in my kneck. But the rest of me seems to be ok. Anyway, until I can get my kneck moving again, I think I will be taking a little bit of a break from the gym. I really hate that because I was beginning to see my abs get a little tighter but there isn't a lot I can do about it right now. I just wanted to let my family know what's going on. I will keep you updated as much as I can.

Thank goodness it wasn't more serious. Your car will be fixed & hopefully your neck will feel better in a couple of days. I was concerned about your knee, though. Did it make it through the 'incident' okay? Take care. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

I can't thank all of you enough for the thoughts and prayers. I will say that my knee is fine. It felt like I had hit my shin on that same leg but I have had no ill effects today with that leg at all. The only issue I have had is with my kneck on the right side. I'll be fine though. It's just going to take some time.

I thought I would let you see what the result to my car was after the incident. Please remember that I just got this car back in May '06. I loved this car.

Bubba, just wanted to pop ini to tell you I'm glad that you weren't seriously injured. I hope you're feeling less sore now.

Was in the gym today, ran my mile about 2 1/2 minutes faster than usual, 18:23 not great time but not too bad. :) Better than before. It was a good thing I cut my workout short today since my DD escaped the switch from preschool to kid care.

We're trying to get to bed earlier tonight so I'm going to head off to make DD a sippy and then it's time to read stories.

Hey everyone!! I was just going to drop a quick line and let you all know that I was able to go back to work today. On Monday, I did have to go to the doctor's office. Sometime late Saturday or early Sunday, I started having a lot of dizzy spells. On Sunday night, it got pretty bad. We were over at my parents house and I was just sitting on their couch relaxing. Next thing I know, I didn't know where I was or who was there. It really was a weird feeling. I could be looking straight at you and not even see you. My movements were very lethargic as well. Scared the crap out of my parents. So the next moring I went in and ended up having a CAT Scan. As sad as it is, the doctor told me that they didn't see anything on the scan. I guess that just proves I have never had anything up there in the first place.:lmao: But seriously, he did give me some medicine that is supposed to help stop the dizzy spells.

Well, so far they are not working up to par, if you ask me. There was 2 or 3 times today, I thought I was going to pass-out. My co-worker was even telling me to go sit down and eat something because she surely couldn't pick me up if I fell.

Otherwise, I am doing pretty good. I heard from the lady's insurance today. I am finally able to get a rental car tomorrow morning before I go into work. (It only took 6 days. WOW!) Plus, the guy is supposed to go look at the car tomorrow and see if they are going to total it or not. He acted like they would probably total it. I am anxiously awaiting the results so I can find out how they are going to pay it off and help me get another one. There's got to be some kind of assistance in helping with a down payment for another car. My goodness, I have only had the car since May of last year. Well, I will try to keep you all informed as to what is going on. I thank all of you for your prayers and your kind thoughts. I have been feeling them everyday. I still don't feel comfortable enough to go back to the gym. But I will probably try to do something light starting next week.

Bryan, I was so shocked to hear what has been going on with you!!! I am SO glad you were not more seriously injured, thank goodness!!!

Sounds like you are going to need quite a bit of time to get back "into the groove" of things, but PLEASE take it as slow as you need to, to make sure everything eventually gets back to normal.

It is just unbelievable how long things take sometimes, rental car, insurance agents, etc. We pay all this money, year after year, and when we actually need it, they take their sweet time to take care of us..frustrating isnt it??

Do you have gap insurance on your car?? I only learned about this last year and added it to all of our policies. Some carriers automatically have it, some don't...I would check for sure. If your car is totaled, the gap insurance covers whatever portion the insurance company doesnt. For example, if you bought your car last year and paid $30,000 for it, and the insurance company totals it but only pays $20000.00 (current value) then you would be responsible for the extra $10,000 without the gap insurance. With it, the insurance company would cover the "gap". Anyway, just a thought since my SIL has been in 2 wrecks (both totals) one her car, one the rental car while awaiting an insurance decision..amazing.

As far as my diet and workout regime, it has been touch n go..right now, it's go. I get going really well, and then something happens and I just dump. I honestly believe that since I don't have a Disney trip planned, I am just BLAH...I ALWAYS have a Disney trip in the planning.:rotfl2: I've also been under a lot of stress lately, and has been interrupting my schedule.

I'll go to the gym for 2-3 days, then not able to for a few days, then I just keep putting it off.

I need your help Disney Family!! Anything you can do to motivate me to get back into the gym (just for 5 days straight) will help LIKE MAD!!! I KNOW that once I get 5-6 days in a ROW I can do it forever. It just seems IMPOSSIBLE to get my fat butt in there, and I don't want to gain weight.

Thanks guys, and I hope everyone is doing well. AGAIN, I am going to keep close to this thread and really try not to have such huge lapses in posts...you guys ROCK!!!:banana:

Where do I need to begin? First off, I can't tell all of you how much I really appreciate your thoughts and genuine concern about me during this past week. I have really felt all of you lifting me up. I would be willing to bet money that you will not find another thread on this site or any other site that has a group of people that care for one another as much as we do here. There are many times that I read what all of you have posted and I can feel the aggravation and excitement that you are all feeling on any given day. Again, I can't thank you enough.


Second will be an update. I have been back to work now for the last four days. I am not 100% by any means but I feel like I am getting better. I still have my dizzy spells but with the way I act most of the time, people can't tell if I am really hurting or if I am acting. There has been a couple of times while I was there, I felt like I was going to pass out and then there have been other times when I forget about what could happen if I go all out like I usually do and try to push myself to the limit. I have noticed the longer I am on my feet moving around, the more lethargic I become. Problem is that my job insists that I keep moving. I am going to go back to the doctor next week and see what he says at that time. Hopefully, we will have a good report so I guess I will ask for you all to keep me in your prayers just a little while longer.

Third, we just got home a little while ago. We had to put my DD(10) in the hospital yesterday. We thought she was going to have to stay there all weekend but she made vast improvements faster than they expected so she was able to come home tonight. I spent the night at the hospital with her last night as DW had to go to work this morning earlier than I did. We also had my Mom come up and spend some time with her until DW got off from her job. Well, right as I was getting off my job, I get a call saying that she had been released so I didn't need to go back up there. (Whew!) She was so sweet during the whole ordeal. She had brought our copy of "Cars" to the hospital but she wouldn't watch it until I got there. She wanted to watch it with me.:blush: She really is Daddy's Little Girl. But the important thing is she is home now and we are all happy about that.

That's about it for now. I am still planning on trying to get back in the gym next week. Even though I have 6.5 months to go until we leave for WDW, I want to use every moment of that time to achieve that "desired" look. Even though we are not pool people, I want to do it for me and so DW can be proud to walk around with me. I have said many times how I have always had a low self esteem and due to that, I have always had a quote that I have used for the way I look (or at least my perception). "From the neck down, I can do something about the way I look. From the neck up, proves that God has got a sense of humor!" I can usually get either a good laugh out of that or have people tell me, "Stop putting yourself down!". I never mean it as a putdown but just as a means to make people laugh.

OK. I think this is long enough. I hope all of you have had a great week and I hope next week is better for all of us. I thank you. I love you. And I look forward to reading all of your success stories.

Happy Sunday all, tomorrow begins a new week, and I am READY to get back to the gym and eat healthier!!!

I am going to devote myself to a healthier lifestyle and keeping more up to date with my DIS family. If I had the time to tell you everything that has happened in the last 6 months, it would take forever. Suffice to say, it's been crazy!!! NO MORE..my health and weight needs to again be my #1 priority, so I'm going to do it!!

TwoTwohappy.....ME AND YOU GIRL, we are going to do this!! When I'm strong I am very strong, but when I fall off, it takes a bit to get back on..well...I"M BACK and ready to DO THIS!!!

I can't wait to post tomorrow after I am done working out to tell you how much better I feel..I just KNOW I am going to. YOU ALL are my motivation to get to the gym!! I cannot tell you, just by typing that last sentence, I WANT to work out, but ALSO HAVE to now because I'm committed to.. Whatever the reason...IM READY!!

My husband and I are going to WDW in July of "07" and I am needing to lose about 60 pounds. So far I have lost about 3 pounds. I may not make my goal but whatever I lose will be better than nothing. I just want to be able to get around with ease and have as much fun as possible!

Bubba..How is your DD doing?? Haven't heard from you I assume you've got more than enough on your plate right now, but wanted to check in on you guys. It seems like when it rains it pours doesn't it? I feel very confident that all the bad is behind you and only sunshine will gleam from your face in the future.:goodvibes ..keep up the good work!!!

What type of diet/exercise routine are you planning and etc..there is a lot of varied advice/opinions on all different kinds of regimes, would be great!! You can do it, and welcome to this FABULOUS group of "ever healthier" DISer's.

OK, now the update..NO, I have yet to make it to the gym:mad: However, there were MANY reasons for this and I do not feel guilty. On the brighter side:hippie: I've been SO busy I have not been eating..so there you go:lmao: Actually, I entered the "Disney Dream Job" contest, and have been working on it for a week (thank GOODNESS..will dish about that laterpopcorn:: ) and completed it last night after midnight:eek:

Here's the kicker, I've been "collecting" and ordering props for my video submission because I THOUGHT :rolleyes1 the submission was due on the 26th. DUH, was perusing the DISboards and found a thread I was subscribed to (saved my derrier) and stated that the contest ends TODAY:scared1: Needless to say, I literally worked my hiney off to get it done. THEN, after FINALLY getting the production filmed (and in 45 secs:confused: ) went to upload it. Didnt' have the software, bought the software, didn't work. Called 1,000,000 different people. didnt work. FINALLY got a NICE guy who walked me through it with a program that was already on my computer! (at this moment still waiting for finalization to view..but..am pretty sure it's up)

ANYWAY, it's DONE, and I think it turned out REALLY well! Once I get it "officially" entered and see if I'm a finalist I will let you all see it if you want. I guess since it's public you can see it if you want anyway. Either way, if you wanna see if, just let me know and I'll figure out where it is and how to get you there to see it WHEW......

Nuff said, going to the gym TOMORROW for sure and can't wait to get everything back on track. Thanks for reading everyone..I feel MUCH better:hug:

I know I can speak for everyone when I say that we are so excited to have you join our family. You have already met Lionqueen. I am sure you will meet the rest of our family very soon. As Lionqueen said, let us know what you are doing so we can tell you what has been working for us as well. The fact that you have already taken off 3 pounds is a tremendous start. You can't be disappointed with that. Feel free to come back as often as you want to share your ups and downs. We are here for you and to give you as much encouragement as you need to succeed.

TLQ It is awesome to know that you are back in the fray. Your awesome way with words has been missed. I am going to send as much pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: and :cheer2: :cheer2: as I can to keep your motivation up to be able to get back to the gym the way you want too. It is real easy to come up with a reason not to go. We all do it from time to time. But what we have to remember is how good it feels for us to go to the gym and go home with that sense of accomplishment. I know you can do it and I know you will also.

Updates - First of all, I want to wish a very strong HAPPY ANNIVERSARY. Now I know that you may not know why I say that but I actually have 2 reasons for that. #1) Today is the 45th Anniversary of John Glenn making his orbital space flight. #2) Tomorrow (2-21) will be the 1 year anniversary of this thread. We have been here talking about motivation, encouragement, successes, trials and jubliations for 365 days now. I never thought for once that this thing would take off like it has. I am so very happy of the fact that we have been able to come together as a family to assist each other for the last year. I am just in awe.
Next, I finally received a call from the insurance agent about my car. They have decided to total the car so now I have to do some quick shopping to see what I want to get now. Do I want to stay with the extra room that I have in the car or do I want to go back to a truck? So many questions and very little time. I have until next Thursday to turn my rental back in. So I am back in car shopping mode. I also found out that I am going to get back about $2500 from the insurance group over what I owed on the car so that is going to help me make a nice down payment. Plus, they are going to cut me a check for all the other bills (doctor visits, chiropractor, medicine, time lost at work and just general inconvenience during the whole ordeal). I would love to know what that amount will come too. I am figuring that I could get between $4 or $5,000 out of this which will help me and my family in so many ways. My biggest concern right now is my dizzy spells. They are still continuing and that scares me a little. It is really making it hard for me to get back into the gym for myself. I just know I will get down and try to do some bench press and then one of my spells hit me, the weight falls and I am in real big trouble then. I am more than likely going back to the doctor tomorrow morning before I go into work to see what he thinks about this. It just seems like I should be over it by now.

Well, that's it for now. I hope everyone's week has started off tremendously. We have so much to be thankful for that we need to look for the positives in everything that we see, do or come in contact with every single day. It will make us all happier and less stress. After reading Bubba's post I had NO IDEA it's been a year!! WOW!! For all those who have been participating and motivated for this year..CONGRATULATIONS!!! What an accomplishment!! I also added the 200 WISH tag to show our success as a thread to lose MUCH more than that!!! GREAT JOB ALL!!!

Well, a personal update on me...I FINALLY entered the Disney Dream Job Contest...:banana: :banana: My entry made it online (albeit a little choppy) and I am happy! I've seen many entries that are quite good, and see my chances as slim..but it was a great time!! I wish I were more savvy when it came to computers and filming, because some of these look like they were done in a studio!!!!!:scared1: Mine definitely is not, but..I'm happy with it.

Hey all! I have been missing all of you recently because of work. I think I put in 35 hours in 3 days. Good news is that I am going to get back into the gym this Monday. I am still erie about what could happen but I am going to be smart and concentrate on the machines and not free weights. At least with that, I do have a "safety net". I have just got to get back in there though. I feel so blah when I don't go. And time is ticking down to our vacation. I've got to get ready for that.

Otherwise, I am in a personal agony right now. I am getting ready to head back over to my car dealership to get another car since they totaled my other one. I thought I had everything picked out and ready to go. Now, they are throwing wrinkles in to the fold. What I mean is they have a car that is a little nicer than what I was going to get. It has some features on it that make it very appealing. One being that it is an automatic which is good because DW can't drive a stick. But it also has leather interior and a spoiler on the back. Problem is that it will raise my payment by about $35 a month. I can offset that if I quit going to the gym but then I have to figure out stuff I can do at home to get in shape. :eek: :confused3 I am so confused and conflicted by all of this that I really don't know what I am going to do. If any of you can, please say a prayer so I will make the smart decision.


Otherwise, all is well. Like I said, I am getting better and I am looking forward to going back to the gym Monday and doing as much as I can. I have a lot of ground to make up. I hope all is well. All of you are winners in my book!! I can't tell you how much I love you all. Stay motivated so we can all reach our goals!!!:cool1:
 
Down another 2 pounds. Slow but sure! If I can keep this up I should be a whole lot lighter by out WDW trip in July.

I am TOTALLY ready to lose the extra 4lbs I gained..and look forward to being even smaller in a few weeks. I cannot tell you how much it has improved my attitude and outlook and I am more motivated than ever!!!

Great Job! I ran 45 min. today and did 100 crunches. Friday I walk/ran 7 miles, did 45 min of weights and 150 crunches. It was great to spend a few hours and the gym!
