My adult son is autistic and has a very narrow menu of items he will eat (simple burgers, fries....stuff like that). We are thinking of doing our first cruise in 2017 and are used to restaurants as WDW being accommodating to his likings. Are the restaurants on the Dream able to be accommodating or is the menu, the menu? I'm not looking for "special favors", but just trying to plan well for what is available.

We just got off the Fantasy and my kids have several food allergies. DCL does an amazing job with special dietary accommodations. Every night I would pre-order the meals for the next day - breakfast, lunch and dinner. We felt so well taken care of. I don't think that your son will have any issue with the food at all!

Yes..if he wants to eat a burger and fries every night in the MDR he would be able to

The kids menu has pretty "standard" items like burgers, chicken fingers, mac 'n' cheese, etc. You can also inform your servers of your son's requirements the first night and they'll do their best to insure he gets what he wants to eat the rest of the cruise.

Adults can order off the kids menu and kids can also order off the adult menu. My adult daughter, who is a very picky eater and has a limited range of foods she'll eat, has done it on the two cruises she has been with us. She particularly liked the mac 'n' cheese and they would bring her larger portions. She was also fond of a couple of appetizers so made a meal of multiple portions at some meals.

My DD is on the spectrum as well and can be rather picky. For some reason, on our cruises she has been even more picky about what she eats than she is at home. But she has always been able to get something she liked. Most nights it was just chicken tenders and fries with a Mickey bar for dessert, but she has found other items on the menu she likes as well. The servers were great about leaving off sauces and making substitutions on side dishes when she ordered from the adult menu. Your son will be fine

I have Celiac Disease and can't eat gluten. They went above and beyond both times we were on the Dream to provide food I could eat. I actually don't think I've ever eaten better. They will definitely accommodate to your son's likings. They are fantastic!
