Didn’t get section we requested

Sitting in airport. Not arriving until 9 p.m. Got room ready notification. Not section requested. We only requested Toy Story. Paid for preferred. Should I call or wait til we get there to ask for a change.
 
I'd say call, but make sure it's the actual hotel front desk you're calling. You should get what you paid for.
 
There's no way for a guest to reach a resort's front desk by phone. The published phone numbers go to a call center, and anyone you speak with there isn't going to be able to change your room assignment.

So is your assigned room not in one of the other preferred buildings (Fantasia, 101 Dalmatians)?
 

There are Preferred Rooms at 101 Dalmatian's so it looks like you got what you paid for. Fingers crossed that you can get a Toy Story room when you ask at the desk!
I dont think the OP was confused about what sections were preferred. It sounded like OP was just letting us know they did book preferred, so it wasn't like they were asking for an upgrade etc.

OP, unfortunately I dont think theres a way to call to the actual resort, so you'll probably have to just wait until you get there. I'd def ask though, sometimes they just dont even look/consider requests ahead of time, so hopefully they'll have something for you. Good luck!

Requests are NEVER guaranteed. If Dalmatians is Preferred that is what you paid for. Even that is not guaranteed.

You’ll have a great time regardless of which section you sleep in...try not to get hung up on it.
Most of your time will probably be spent out of the room anyway.
Dalmatians are cute!
 
I'd not get worked up over this to start your vacation. Ask at the desk but you're probably going to be out of luck.

They are not, however there's a very good chance the room assigner didn't look, care, have the request, so I'd def. recommend anyone ask when they check in. We have a long story about our trip with 4 rooms and a room request this past September and it was clear they didnt have or care to look at the request ahead of time, so it's always recommended to ask at checkin if it's important to you. If it's not a big deal for you, then that just means smoother and faster checkin for you yay!

May I ask what happened that makes you this sure that your requests were never received or considered?

Room assignment isn't nearly as simple as many people think. Ideally (from any hotel's point of view) there must be a room or rooms available for the exact length of stay, preceded immediately by the previous visitor checking out earlier that day, and followed immediately by new people checking in the same day the current party checks out.

Ever play Tetris? Try doing that with 1,900+ hotel rooms.

I emailed when we got to our room and said I was disappointed and a manager called and said they’ll move us tomorrow while we’re out.

I always stay Value. I haven’t been here for 5 years. Have probably been here 10 times. These rooms are in really bad shape. Carpeting is sooooo worn. I don’t think this room should cost the same as a refurb room.
