Did you walk or take the bus to school?

walked, rode my bike or caught a ride.

I grew up in Alabama in the 60's/70's. The only people who rode the bus were the ones being "bussed in and out" to desegregate the schools.

I walked in elementary school, and for part of high school. Junior high I was in a carpool as the school was further away.

Before I moved, I took the bus into school. My mom would take us in as well some days. After I moved for gradeschool I mostly walked or rode my bike. On bad days, again my mom would take us in. For middle school, I was too far to walk so I took the bus in every day. I think at that point my mom was tired of driving us in, so she didn't :) For high school, I was a block away, so I mostly walked. As I got older, even though I was only a block away, my friends would sometimes either pick me up or drop me off to school.

Bus, kindergarten through second grade.

Walk, third grade through fifth grade.

Bus, sixth grade through eleventh grade.

Drove, mid eleventh grade until graduation.

It was always too far to walk. I always took the Twinkie Chariot....unless Mom took pity on me and drove.

Kindergarten through 4th grade, I walked.
5th grade through 11th I rode the bus and hated it, it was such a l-o-n-g ride both ways. Finally, my senior year I was on co-op so had an afternoon job and got to drive. I was so happy not to have to ride the bus any longer!!!

olena what is a Twinkie Chariot?

I walked or rode my bike. The girl who lived next to me used to ride the bus. She was a grade behind me. But I wasn't allowed to since I was a year up.

Walked. Uphill. Both ways. In the snow. :jester:

Walked down one hill, up the next to the bus for elementary. Just over a 1/4 mile. Lived in the country and the bus could not make it down the dirt road and turn around.

Rode my bike after we moved into town.
