60th Castle Stein was stilll available at Jolly Holiday and Coke Corner (haven't checked at the Plaza Inn yet).

I am also not a fan and am very very disappointed they are adding SWL to Disneyland. That is something that should be in Hollywood Stuidos in FL (which it will be) and if it has to be here it should be in DCA. Not liking any of this at all.

It was discussed here some time back. I'm sorry but I don't remember the sources or who posted it but it was just a conversation like this one. I don't know if it's a sure thing but much of it makes sense. Autopia takes up a huge amount of room and has not been kept up as well as all the other attractions in the area leading one to guess at it's future. They could utilize the Sub area too (which some believe is very expensive to run) and end up with a huge area in Tomorroland (where I feel it belongs)

I agree, I am not a Star Wars fan but do think it is a smart area for Disney, it has a huge, fanatical and long term and regenerating fan base. But I don't think it should have gone into DL (rather it should have been part of DCA) and if it really had to go into DL then tomorrow land is logically where it belongs

We were down at the beginning of the year when all of Critter Country was blocked off and it was a bit depressing ~ I can only imagine the feel of the park with all of these areas/attractions closed off for a long while

Those pictures are sad I know none of us is able to know what Walt would want, I surely hope from Heaven he is happy about at least some of this new growth. I am sure disappointed to never have gotten to see the Springtime Roundup or Jingle Jangle Jamboree. I hope there is some type of Easter and Spring event in 2016!

I have no interest in SWL and as I have said before to me, that may make DL feel more un DL like. (in terms of being more action adventure...indeed like marvel based)

I haven't been on Autopia in over 6 years and remember being disappointed. The cars were fumy and hard to pedal, not like the dinosaur days when I first rode them back in the late 70's and 80's. The Nemo subs? I enjoy the idea of an extra boat ride and cool it is a sub. The storyline just doesn't cut to me the long wait. I did prefer the original version. That said if SWL needed to come to DL, I would have preferred it being part of Tomorrow Land or even better maybe a Movie Type Land in CA Adventure where it wasn't only Star Wars.

I never ever thought I would question whether to renew my AP or not especially after saving so much to do so! I just looked at a calendar for December 2016 and see the first weekend is December 3rd and 4th. My AP expires on December 4th so if I do renew, it would at least include Candlelight (which I love so much) next year as well as this year. Of course, assuming next year the CP is on the first weekend of December as it usually is I probably will renew as basically one day=$100 ticket and may even go up next year. If I make at least 5 trips with my renewal the AP is paid for and anymore is a "free" trip in terms of the ticket. After next year, I am not sure.

Hi,

This is a shame. I did not go on the Columbia but did Mark Twain, Tom Sawyer's island and the Railroad when I was there in early september. Going back in May for the Tinker Bell Half marathon and it will be depressing to see all the construction hoardings.

Being an animal lover, I am concerned about the ducks who live on and around the ROA. I doubt they will be saved. And although the post says that the horses will be stabled off property, I would not be surprised if we never see them again once the ranch is gone.

I am a WDW girl and we see closures and change all the time. I understand 1000% not wanting DL to change though. I am sad about Big thunder ranch but I am glad I will be going in november to see it all and eat at the bbq since I never have. I am also planning on doing the rivers of america stuff now that I know it will be closing for a long time, just in case they decide not to re open some stuff. it is definitely making my november trip easier to plan. I am also going to be there when seasons of the force starts so I will get to enjoy those changes to. I have a question when does the halloween overlay on the mansion and SM go down? I get there on November 13th.

There's no way we'll go to the parks with both ROA and the RR closed. Just not worth the cost and disappointment.
So we'll be spending our vacation dollars in Hawaii instead.

Ok I do get every ones so sad. I am sad they are closing all those things too but it is only for a year or a year in a half. Think about the changes that will come to the park. I bet its done as well as cars land was.

As for the Animals i'm sure the ducks will not be killed but saved and maybe given to another park that has ducks or another rescue? The horses are being moved right across the street. That was said in one of the first posts about the ranch being closed. I suspect its the little rv place where they have land and stables (don't quote me on that) but it is supposed to be real close and they will not take the horses out of the park completely.

It is sad yes, but Walt even said the park would never be done. Do I think maybe it should have been in Tomorrow land or Dca sure that would have made since to me. Better yet a third park with Star wars land, Marvel land and Frozen land. Would have made a lot of ppl happy.
Disneyland just doesn't have the land for that so they have to make it fit where they can. DCA will have most of the frozen stuff, and a marvel land too. Star wars land has to go in Disneyland park it self.

I understand not wanting to renew the AP's or change your trip plans. I am sure Disney knew some of the Apers and those who know how to read up on news and events. May cancel or postpone the trips.

However they will do fine with out all of us for a year or so. There are still many ppl who don't plan one iota(don't ask me. I couldn't do that) and they will be heart broken and disappointed but had they been smart they would have looked at the sites for plans.

I'm not saying don't be up set or bummed I am just saying lets take a step back and see what comes of it. How many of us didn't like cars but then loved the land? I had never seen Cars until one morning we were to excited to sleep sitting in the hotel waiting for the parks to open. Cars was on tv so we said ok lets watch it. It was good and then w heard they were doing a cars land and we began to look forward to it.

How many new generations will hear of star wars land and deiced to give the movie a try? This is a good business choice for Disney. Just like the frozen mania is too as well as marvel.

Also don't let all the sadness ruin your trip if you are already set to go. Go have fun and be prepared. Don't expect everything to be perfect and don't let the stress get to you.

I am ready if I can't see fireworks because of the wind. I am ready and wont be upset.

space mtn is going down right after halloween for the hyperspace mtn. overlay that will open on Nov. 16th for seasons of the force. The HM overlay and iasw overlay will be there through January

I'm super happy we are going the first week of November, even despite the JC and SM closures. The whole point of DLR for me is the suspension of reality and the sparkling magic of the park that encompasses Walt's vision and leaves you with that special combination of nostalgia and inspiration. Seeing the ROA drained and not having the RR up and running would be such a downer.

I'd rather take my family to the new Harry Potter land or maybe Aulani instead and come back to DLR when it's put back together again.

All I can say is that I'm so excited! If you don't want to go, then stay home. There will be less crowding for those of us that will always love Disneyland. Walt himself said that Disneyland will never be complete. I'm sixty-two years old, and can't even list all the changes that I have seen. It just keeps getting better and better.
