Suddenly, I'm the guys biggest fan. Whatever he does next I'll be watching.... guess what show I won't tune in to see? Bad move ABC

From Deadline News Hollywood:

Neal McDonough is a marvelous actor who elevates every role he plays, whether it's in Band of Brothers or Desperate Housewives. So when he was suddenly replaced with David James Elliott 3 days into the filming on ABC's new series Scoundrels earlier this week, there had to be a story behind the story. The move was officially explained as a casting change. But, in fact, McDonough was sacked because of his refusal to do some heated love scenes with babelicious star (and Botox pitchwoman) Virginia Madsen. The reason? He's a family man and a Catholic, and he's always made it clear that he won't do sex scenes. And ABC knew that. Because he also didn't get into action with Nicolette Sheridan on the network's Desperate Housewives when he played her psycho husband during Season 5. And he also didn't do love scenes with his on-air girlfriend in his previous series, NBC's Boomtown, or that network's Medical Investigation. "It has cost him jobs, but the man is sticking to his principles," a source explained to me. You can't help but admire McDonough for sticking to his beliefs, even if he's poised to lose as much as $1 million in paydays for Scoundrels, which is based on the New Zealand series Outrageous Fortune centering on the matriarch (Madsen) of a family of criminals who decides it's time for her brood to go straight after her husband (McDonough, now Elliott) is sentenced to a long prison term. ("I thought these things only happened to women in LA!," a source mused.)

I thought to myself, "Self?...this thread is useless without pictures!", so here ya' go ::yes:: ...

agnes!

Good for him. Our world needs more men - and women - like that.

Reminds me of how Kirk Cameron would not kiss anyone besides his wife so when they filmed Fireproof when they had the kiss scene at the end they brought in his wife for that one scene and it was filmed in silhouette so that you can't tell it isn't the same actress as was in the rest of the movie.

I don't care for him very much. We do like David James Elliott, however, so perhaps we will try that new show out.

Good for him!!! I like people who stick to their principles!!!!:)

(and not because his are the same as mine - they aren't)

he is a very good actor and nice looking - though he plays evil too well!:)

it is sad that the network knew it going in.

My only question is whether he knew going in that a scene like this was part of the role. If he did, took the role, then quit because of the scene he knew he would have to do it sounds like grandstanding. It would be like trying out for that part of roller girl in Boogie Nights and then quitting when it came time to film a nude scene when you knew that it was part of the role.

If that is not the case then good for him. If it is then he is just grandstanding.

Exactly!!! I love people with morals that actually stick by them. :thumbsup2

I have always loved him. I could be misremembering but it seems like he had some love scenes with his mistress in Boomtown.

Thanks Agnes, you are right, a picture does help!

I can't stand it that every loose wacko gets applauded for being 'different'. Seriously, it's been done to death, this isn't the 1950's any more.. so dated. Uggh I get it already. It doesn't offend me, it's just gross. So and so is all over the place, yippee for them. Seems like every star out there has been around more blocks than the Good Humor Man, yet the industry keeps acting like it's somehow pushing the envelope. NOT! Who cares? Being easy isn't new and doesn't impress me. Know what does impress me? Being different. Know what's actually different? Being decent... that impresses me.

I remember watching an Elvis movie and when he went to go kiss the girl, they embraced each other in such a way that they buried their lips in each other's cheeks to give the illusion they were making out. It was very slick.

He's an actor, for goodness sake. It doesn't sound like there would be a whole lot of nudity if it is TV. Is it OK for him to pretend to kill people? Or lie as an actor?

I get it's his job to act but when you pretend to be a killer, you don't really kill anyone. When they say their lines it's not like the person listening is actually being lied to either. This is different, it's hard to pretend to be in a scene like that and not... errr... touch inappropriately.

Considering the high number of actors & actresses who have affairs with their co-stars, Mr. Pitt for example, no-one could really say the behavior isn't stoking the fire with a straight face....well maybe they could but I wouldn't buy what they're selling. In the general population about 50% of marriages fail. I don't know what the numbers are in Hollyweird but I suspect the epic fail rate is much much higher.

He can pretend he's killing someone because he's NOT really killing them. With a sex scene...you are dangerously close.

I loved him in Minority Report, never forgot those eyes...

Sorry, but why would you become an actor when you know this is usually PART of the deal? I understand not wanting to but it's not that he just found out this is what actors do. He's be acting forEver. :confused3

I'm a fan of Neal McDonough but won't mind that they picked David James Elliott to replace him. I was a huge fan of JAG - I referred to as my "cute boy"!
