They had the home video of the Today Show. A bunch of teens beating the bejeezus out of their ex-friend for posting smack about them on her Myspace. Apparently the girl now has hearing loss and eye damage. Two guys charged as well as they acted as lookouts outside the home where it happened. the 6 girls are awaiting charges. It was insane!

The one girls mom was a real loon when tehy interviewed her too. Trying to defend her daughter (who was one of the attackers).

Yea, I saw it.

That mom is stupid....."yea, my dd should have called the police....blah, blah, blah...but she told the girl not to go in the house.....blah, blah, blah..."

:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Yeah, I saw it and as usual, the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. When talking with Matt, the mother twisted the custody issue as well. The mom does not have legal custody of her daughter, but both mother and daughter live at home with grandma. It reminds me of the old Chris Rock quote: "If the kid calls his grandma 'Mom' and his mom 'Pam', he is going to jail."

I saw a bit of it. It's amazing the girl didn't have more injuries. :sad2:

I saw a little bit of it. I'm glad the teens will be charged as adults. This was definitely malicious intent.

I think there needs to be a new classification of charging teens. They are growing up too quickly these days and they know what they are doing, especially with bullying and group bullying being such a problem. With technology like TV & YouTube teaching them how to be vicious, being charged either as an adult or only as a juvenile, seems inaequate nowadays.

I saw that, too. The sheriff said they expressed no remorse, laughing about it and saying, " Oh well, we might miss a beachtrip this weekend", and "I hope we don't miss cheerleading practice".

It's just crazy. :confused3

ETA: By the way, Imzadi, Trek fan here, too!

The Mom is an idiot. Gee now we know why her daugther is beating the crap out of someone.

I hope they are all get exactly what is coming to them. A long time in jail to think about the things they have done. I can't believe they were laughing about not being able to go to the beach this Spring Break. :sad2:

We need to start setting explains to other teens who think they can do this crap and get away with it because of their age.

They are lucky they didn't hurt her worse than they did.

I saw it on one of the morning programs this morning. It was awful. I work in schools, and it saddens me regularly just how vicious kids can be these days. :sad2:

One of the anchors on the show talked about how scary it was that the girls seemed to have a total disconnect from any sort of empathy at all. Scary...

P.S. Another Trek fan here too! :thumbsup2

I saw it. What a world. :sad1: :sad2:

At least they were stupid enough to video tape it for evidence! :thumbsup2

I watched the video and interviews on the Today Show this morning, and it was just disgusting. Those kids all deserve to go to jail, and I hope they get the maximum.

I saw it this morning, but I thought it hadn't been announced if they would be charged as adults or not? Nothing I saw mentioned how much jail time they could be facing. I hope it is a GOOD LONG TIME.... Planned, premeditated and vicious. They're lucky they did not kill that girl.

I didn't see the video, and I don't intend to either. What amazes me are the parents who defend their kids when they KNOW they are guilty.

When I was in 7th grade, I was saved from a similar attack by a friend of mine who convinced the 'gang' not to attack me after 3 days of stalking me. This gang was composed of black girls and they wanted to attack me because a black boy had asked me out. The fact that I had declined the date (which came totally out of the blue from my perspective) was not good enough for them -- I had to be punished for attracting one of 'their' guys. They had earlier attacked another girl and burned her with cigarette lighters, so I was very glad when that friend of mine (who was black) talked the gang out of attacking me.

Later on, the girl gang made a huge tactical error when they attacked -- for the same reason -- another girl whose father was involved in the mob. (Yeah, I grew up in an interesting town.) By nightfall, the oldest brothers of all the girls in the gang had been beaten to within an inch of their lives and THAT was the end of that gang.

So, this has been going on for quite a while from my perspective.

I only saw the preview (it's still only 7:30am here), the segment has yet to air. The preview made me so sick to my stomach and I had turned the tv to ABC. :sad2:

I only saw a little bit and I had to turn it off. It just makes me sick that kids would do something like that. It is SICK! And what the hell is wrong with the parents? How on earth could you defend your child if you saw them do something like that to another human being?:sad2:

 Did you live in NJ or Brooklyn or S. I. at the time?

Just wait. They will find some scumbag lawyer to represent them and he will tell the Court how they are the real victims here and that they were abused as kids, or treated ugly by some teacher, or have ADD, or ADHD, or ODD, or CD, etc. and that they should just be understood and not punished. You heard it here first.

Darn that Constitution for providing the right to be represented in court by a "scumbag" lawyer.

The defendants' inability to recognize the gravity of what they did is precisely why they should not be tried as adults, but as juveniles. But hey, what do I know, I just train and teach the future "scumbags" of America.

Watching the video honestly filled me with anger...maybe even a little rage. That poor kid wasn't even fighting back or defending herself. She was just desperately trying to beg them to stop. I was on the recieving end of a MILD slap down as a kid and can't even comprehend how those animals thought they would get away with it or that it was even an acceptable thought in the first place. AND VIDEOTAPING IT??? Good thing they are idiots.
