Did you like Mara at AKL, refill coffee there?

We're at AKV for the first time in April, can you tell me about Mara, did you like it, what time is it open in the morning, and can you refill mugs and coffee there?

I don't know what time it opens, but it is early because they open for breakfast. You can refill your mugs there.

Of all of the Disney resorts that I have stayed at, the mara is our favorite CS. Large and plenty of options. Enjoy.

Our last stay there was My 2006 so I can't quite remember, but I think they had a nice salad. Also, I seem to recall a turkey sandwich. My husband and son liked the pizza. There are a ton of desserts, too.

Was just there last week and it opened at 7am and I think closed at 11pm.

Needless to say we were never there at 7am

Oh I can definitely see myself there at 7, I can't sleep when I'm at Disney. I wish it even opened earlier so I could take my coffee and go watch the animals if we don't have a savannah view. I know I can make it in my room, but I'd rather go the lazy way and just grab my mug and go to Mara. Do you all have favorite places to sit around the resort just to watch? This is our first time.

Thanks for those hours and link! Now its says it opens at 6, but then on the menu the bfast starts at 7 am? weird. I wonder if its just open for coffee

It has typical food court things for breakfast, and the coffee was good.

It's got a good amount of seating so we never had a problem - there are also tables outside, kind of near the pool.
They also have a few special (non-breakfast) things that were really good too - I'd recommend the African Stew - comes in a bread bowl, not spicy, nothing over the top exotic, but really good.
They also have zebra domes and some of the other desserts from Boma in the 'fridge case.
The cous cous they have as a side option was good also - it was served cold, like a cous cous salad, mixed with some veggies and dressing.

There are lots of public viewing areas around the lodge, both inside and out - the 3rd floor has patio kind of areas overlooking the savannah w/huge rocking chairs. Or, believe it or not, there are outside open stairwells at the end of the halls that really offered great animal watching (as long as you don't mind sitting on the stairs)

I honestly don't know - but I'm sure someone else does.
To me coffee is coffee - as long as I can put lots of sugar in it to get moving in the morning. My husband did declare the tea to be "gross" during our Oct trip and made me pack teabags from home when we went back in May.

I like the roast beef wrap they have in the fridge section. And they have the wonderful butternut squash soup from Boma as well. I second the African stew in a bread bowl too.

I didn't like it very much. Only 2 items on the kids menu (mac & cheese, & roasted chicken). The pizza (flatbread) was ok. The burger was your typical park burger. The salads and cold sandwiches are prepackaged.

We didn't eat b/fast there since we were staying Club.

Sorry Mara's coffee is nescafe all the way!!!! Not sure about Boma only had dinner there without coffee

Nope. Nescafe. Blech. I brought my own coffee with me and brewed it in the room. I'm not a coffee snob, and it has to be pretty bad for me not to drink it, but I wasn't drinking it.
