I still have mine. I had it preserved and boxed, and it's currently on the top shelf of my bedroom closet. Though, honestly, I don't know why I'm holding on to it.

It was only $323, thanks to an error at the bridal shop, they were handwritten tags and someone left off the 4th number!

I hope you saved that price tag, too! I'm fainting to think of it, as the bridal shop employees must have as well!

I have mine and boy was I tiny back then. I can barely get my pinky in the arms now.

:rotfl: Me too. I took it out one night and my ds yelled in shock "you were that skinny before".

I have mine stuffed in one of those big ziploc bags thrown in the attic. I never cleaned or preserved it after my wedding and I gave my veil to my dd to play dress up with. I tried to donate it to an organization that auctions or sells them for charity but its too old. I'll probbaly keep it for dd to do something with or give it to Goodwill someday. I don't need the gown to remember my wedding day so its no big deal if I got rid of it.

.

Me three :lmao:

I have mine still. It currently lives under oldest DSs bed because well, it's the only place the box fits.

I don't have any girls and I sometimes wonder why I keep it - then I remember my cousin whose fiance wore HIS mother's dress. Why? Because she loved it and because her mother didn't save her wedding dress.:goodvibes

WHere did you rent your dress from? Im in Mass! How was the rental pricewise? Did they have a big selection? Do they just not alter it at all?

Sorry!! We got married in Vegas!!!

To answer your questions though...;) Pricewise was cheap (I think around $150,) huge selection, and alterations!!! LOL...it's what Vegas does though, right???

Someone should start a business renting them, I bet they would do ok!!

I actually had my wedding dress turned into a christening gown for my future child. I also had a beautiful pillow made with our wedding date embroider on it. I was given what was left of the dress in case I want to have anything else made out of it.

I kept my dress, and my MIL had it cleaned and stored in a special box with special paper to keep it from yellowing. It's upstairs in our farm house right now.

I keep telling DD18 that it will be her dress to wear someday. She just rolls her eyes, says she's not getting married, and if she does, she might just want to pick out her own dress. I told DS22 if his sister doesn't wear it, it'll be his to wear. :rotfl2:

The truth is, I'd love for DD to wear it, but I figure the style from 23 years ago won't be the same as the style when she gets married in the next 8-10 years. If she doesn't want to wear, the dress can just stay in the box until the style comes back around, if ever. In 100 years, my great-great-great granddaughter can wear it to a retro 1980's party.

After 14 years I still have mine in the box from the dry cleaners. Out in the garage.:lmao: It has been to AL, SC, MD, TX, and now FL. I just laugh as the movers stick another number tag for each move.

Don't know that anyone would want to wear it, but there were some great ideas out here on how to recycle.

Squirrels made a nest out of my wedding dress :rotfl2:

Let me explain. It was not the $1000+ dress one normally goes for. It was a very lovely dress I intended to use as the after ceremony dress. Very fancy and white. Plans changed and we decided to not do the traditional wedding and go for a quick "I do" and be done with it for cheaper. So, the dress I said my "I do" in, was not the super valued dress most feel about their $1000+ dress. I sort of kept it to remember how small I once was before having my son. So, it was packed in a box with other memorabilia. We put the old boxes in the attic and when we moved out 8 years later, I found the box torn open and my dress in a thousand shreds.

I was a little upset, but at least my marriage survived long than the dress did (so far 18 years). How many people can say that? ;)

yep - I love it....had it "preserved" and it's in a box in my closet. I didn't do it thinking that one of my kids would wear it, but because I loved it so much.....it it spaghetti straps and had a wrap...

I have no attachment to mine (nor to the ex-h)....but I think my mom still has it stashed away somewhere. Not sure why :confused3

I loved my dress. However, I dropped it in the green vet boxes for donated clothes. Figured someone else might enjoy wearing it too!!! I don't regret it, still love both my husband and the pics from our wedding day, but couldn't see ever "suiting up" again.

So there we have it! About 90% kept the dress! :goodvibes I still don't think I will keep mine, just think it would make me sad to have something I love so much packed up in a box. I love thats some people were able to turn it into something else for the kids & grandchildren! I think it would hurt to see it ripped up to be sewn though.

We need to come up with some brilliant thing that brides can do with their wdding dress, and that bridesmaids can do with their bridesmaid dresses after the bid day. It seems so wasteful for people to spend so much for something that they only get to wear one time.

Me too. I was 97 pounds when I got married. :scared1: I'm not anymore. :scared: (Not that weighing 97 pounds was a GOOD thing...but neither is what I weigh now.) I really should get rid of it, or made into something. :confused3

It is still at my parents house stored in a plastic bag after 33 years. Will have to get it out of their closet soon, though no one will ever wear it again I know I had 3 sons all married now .
