Did you have a Sweet 16 party/dance?

Has anyone had a sweet 16 party or dance or celebration? What was it like? My daughter turns 16 in January and wants to celebrate. I have no clue about these things.

Right now, we are planning (we live in a very small town) a dinner for 8 friends at a nice restaurant and then maybe going to the movies. I need help!

nope...I think i just went out to dinner with my parents and brother...that's it.

My friend had a big surprise party. Her mom used the hall in their church and invited a whole bunch of her friends. To hang out and eat and stuff like that.
My party was a lot more simple. I had 5 friends over; we had pizza went to a Monarchs hockey game, then came back home for cake and a sleepover. My mom was willing to throw a much bigger party, but we just did what I wanted.
Pretty much let your daughter take the lead. The plan as of now sounds like a neat one. But ask her, does she want a big or small party. That sort of thing.

Nope. But, my parents took me to Disneyworld!!!

They took me to Disneyworld for my 21st too.

Now to convince them I'm still their "baby" and that they should take me for my 28th!! LoL!

No, I didn't have any friends, so no one showed up. They all RSVPed that I whined too much.

Just had a few friends over for pizza and to spend the night. None of my friends had elaborate parties. But my friends did send me balloons and roses (dyed purple) to school for me. I had never felt so special.

My DD turned 16 last year.

I gave her the choice of a sweet 16 party or a trip to Orlando.
There was never any doubt!
We had a great time in Orlando!
