George Reiger, the Disney tattoo guy, is removing his 2,000 Disney tattoos.
The reason?

Love.

"I've been living a Disney dream, but now it's a real fairy tale," said Reiger, in a phone interview after getting off a Disney Cruise Line ship in Miami on Wednesday.

He said he met Kathleen, whose last name he declined to reveal, at the 2009 D23 Convention in Anaheim, across the street from the Disneyland Resort, when she sat down in a lone open seat next to him at a Disney fan convention sessions.

"She thought all the tattoos were disgusting," he said.

Even with that disgust, love grew and flourished.

Reiger said it's all related to D23, Disney's official fan club. Their birthdays are on the 11th and 12th, which adds up to 23; his current address in Pennsylvania has the number 23 in it.

Reiger said they love to dance to the song "Bright Little Star" that plays in the "Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe" automated show in Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World.

Oops, there is more:

Reiger said they love to dance to the song "Bright Little Star" that plays in the "Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe" automated show in Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World.

"That song plays every 23 minutes," Reiger said.

They are both Disney fans and frequently visit Walt Disney World. In September at EPCOT Center, Reiger got down on his knees and proposed to Kathleen.

She accepted.

"I'm starting fresh with her," he said. "She comes first now, not Disney."

The recently retired postal-service employee even sold his Disney collection and thinks he will get enough money to buy a house in Miami, where the couple plans to live.

"We're going to start a new Disney collection that will be ours," he said.

Removing the tattoos will be painful, Reiger admitted.

He plans to start on the more exposed areas, like the arms and legs. He said he's gotten an estimate of the costs, but would not reveal it. "It's more expensive then getting them (the tattoos) put on," Reiger said.

He plans to keep 10 tattoos: one of Kathleen, one representing the song they dance to and a few others.

"But it's worth it. She's a real Disney character. She gets up and sings and dances while we watch the parades," Reiger said.

The date for their wedding, or for the removal of the tattoos, has been set.

"I used to put my love of Disney before family. Now I'm putting my love of her before Disney. It's a whole new world for me."

Any relationship that requires you to alter yourself, who you are, or what you love is not going to end well. Seems controlling and selfish to ask someone to do that, and silly for him to agree.

She thought they were DISGUSTING? Then obviously she isn't the one for him. I'm actually sad for him. I bet this doesn't end well, but it will probably end.

I can't imagine that he will look too hot after he has all the tattoos removed. Are they able to remove all tats 100%? I don't think so. I agree with PP who are saying that if you have to change yourself, it's not going to work. He will have huge regrets down the road.

That's what I was thinking. And when it ends, he's going to regret getting his tattoos removed.

Here's another article (with a picture of him). He lied about previous marriages? He sounds like he's got some issues. I wish them the best tho...hope it works out.

Forget the story - read the comments. A number of people that claim to know him well all see him as a habitual liar with issues.

Wow. Just wow. According to another article, he's also selling off all of his magic tricks. So no tattoos (or almost none), no Disneyana collection and no magic. This guy's completely turning into something he's not.

It's a shame, too. I've met him a few times, and he was just the nicest guy ever. I hate to think of him totally changing who he is for some woman. Not to mention, if she's such a big Disney fan herself, why would she want him to ditch the Disneyana collection? Something doesn't add up here, and I hope he doesn't end up regretting all this.

Hopefully, deep down he realizes that he is doing this for himself and not just for someone else. Maybe he realizes how over the top compulsive his Disney obsession was and he is using this as an excuse to start to back away from that. Sometimes people realize they're in too deep with whatever they're doing but don't know how to stop or temper it. This may very well be the trigger that gives him the first baby step in controlling that compulsion.

I didn't know they can remove tatoos. Can they really do that completely?

Almost any Cast Member you meet will tell you he's a nice guy to talk to. Of course, I doubt any single CM knows that much about his personal life.

Maybe there's other reasons behind the removal?? Ummm maybe he finally wants to retire to work at Disney World?? Going for the removal of 2,000 tattoos seems it bit overboard, but maybe overboard to begin with.

I could never give up my Disney Collection, and I'm sure he has many pieces that can no longer be found.

Yes, that guy is a MAJOR liar. In another article he admits that he used to tell people he was married and divorced 6 times....he has never been married.

He also says that he hates when people stare at him or ask questions about his tattoos - then why do you walk around in short-shorts and a tank-top?

And if she hates Disney so much, why was she at a Disney Fan Convention?

And I agree, making someone else sell off their things and remove their tattoos is not 'love' or 'romantic'.

The whole thing is whack IMO.

Ummm, no. The article I read said that SHE is the one making him get rid of his Disney collection because he is moving into her house and she doesn't want it in her house.

That still doesn't mean she hates Disney. That means she doesn't want the floors to the ceiling covered in Disney memorabilia. I love, love, love Disney, but I don't want it coated over every inch of my house.

I agree. Very sad and not romantic at all.

Sorry, OP. Unless you were being sarcastic, I don't find controlling people romantic at all.

First of all, BIG mistake moving to Miami of all places...I live here and can hardly WAIT to move, just not time for me yet.:confused3 Also, I would think LONG and HARD about getting rid of ALL those tatoo's, especially for another person, you don't like my tattoo's or my Disney collection, see ya!;) I have a DH that collects Cannons, Guns, Swords, etc, if I told him to get rid of anything, he would tell me STOP going to DISNEY every 3 months, so I wouldn't say a word.

I grew up there. Left Miami in 2003 and Broward in 2006. As I tell every one else, it's better remembered than what it is. I can't stand to drive down there anymore.
