Did you go to your Prom?

Nope, didn't go. I moved when I was a Sophomore, and despised that school. I was also a "hippie" back in the 70's, and had no desire to dress up. At that point, I thought that if I ever got married, it would be in a pair of jeans, barefoot at the beach, and we'd ride off on a motorcycle for a cross country honeymoon. :teeth: (I got married at 26, a traditional wedding, and rode off to Nova Scotia in our Honda Prelude.)

But now I have two DDs, and they've been to so many Semis, Proms and Winter Balls between the two of them. ka-ching!

I didn't go to my prom.

I graduated HS in 1980, when I was head-over-heels in love with a 19 year-old musician who wouldn't be caught dead at anything as "establishment" as a prom--not to mention that he thought he was way too mature to be at a high school function anyway.

Do I regret it? Not really. The prom was not well attended by the rest of my graduating class, and as a young adult, I was in more weddings than I count on both hands, so I think that made up for it in the long run.

Yes, I went to both my Jr and Sr prom. Im glad I did. Went to Jr prom with a friend (who Im still close too) because I broke up with my boyfriend and wasn't up for looking for a new date. And went to my Sr prom with a waiter I met at Chili's (he actually worked with a friend of mine). Had a great time at both proms for different reasons. Was glad I went to them both.

We were just talking about proms at work the other day and we all decided that on Monday we would all bring in our prom pictures to share. Im soooo looking forward to that.

I went to my freshman dance, but don't recall a single thing about it except it was semi-formal, and the dufus boyfriend at the time showed up to pick me up in a hideous mint green liesure suit and I just about died.

Don't think I went to any dance as a sophmore--had changed schools and it's quite possible we didn't have a sophmore dance.

Didn't go to my junior prom--boyfriend dumped me the week before for another girl who made his life hell for years until he met his current wife who has made his life hell for many more. (serves him right! :rotfl: )

Went to my senior prom with a gay guy friend because the boyfriend at the time had already graduated and "didn't do those high school things." Actually had more fun than I would have with the boyfriend. :rotfl2:

Well, we had a blast... it was fun. The food was icky, but that is to be expected, I guess. Mom rode over with us (it was her boss' wife who was in charge of the dance), and here is a picture of all three of us that Shelby took. It is kind of blurry, but I think Shelby wanted to get a move on because she had a thingy of her own she was going to:

Great pic!

Yes, I went to junior and senior proms, and had a fantastic time at both. Lots of great memories. :)

I skipped both my junior and senior proms and have no regrets
I considered going to junior prom. A friend of mine offered to be "wing man" for me and a couple other girls. We had all done that at semi and had the time of our lives (the only dance I've ever enjoyed). But prom was on a Saturday night and I had AP exams the Thursday and Friday before and the Monday after. I'd been sick for months and life had been kicking my butt. A night of no sleep was not what I wanted. I'm still glad about that decision, especially since "wing man" ended up being dragged by his ex girlfriend and had a rough night dealing with her antics.
Senior year...well no one goes to that prom without a date and quite frankly finding a date just wasn't happening to me. A group of my friends was going dateless, but a few of them had said the same thing about semi that year then decided last minute that they weren't going, leaving me to play third wheel since my mother wouldn't let me out of going (I even thought about hiding out at my dad's house for the evening but figured there wasn't enough money in the world to pay my sister to keep the mouth shut about that, and I didn't have a key...but that's how badly I did NOT want to go), and between the third wheel experience, then the fact that we easily could have gotten drunk off the smell of beer in the gym thanks to all the smashed seniors (not me, or the friend I was with), prom was the last thing I wanted to go to. I also can't dance to save my life. Absolutely no regrets about that choice at all. The drama that happened in the weeks leading up to the prom was rediculous, the money being spent was insane, and it poured the night of our prom (ok it poured every night last May...), so I was really happy to be at home, watching movies with mom

Glad you had a good time. Thanks for sharing the picture with us. You all look great. :sunny:

My sophmore year I dated a senior from another school and we went to his prom. It was nice. Shortly after it we broke up. Thank the Lord!!! ;)

My junior year I broke up with a college guy I was dating right before the prom, so didn't go to that one. And my mom still has the dress I bought at her house!!!! That dress is almost 20yrs old!!!! :rotfl2:

My senior year I went to prom with a really good friend who was a junior.
I had just met my now DH just before prom and we started casually dating and he wanted to take me, but because he is 5 years older than me, I didn't want to go to prom with an *old guy*!!!!!! :rotfl2: :lmao:
That following fall we started dating seriously and we've been with each other ever since,17 years!!!!! And he still brings up how I wouldn't let him take me to the prom!!!!!
:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

I helped plan and decorate for my prom...but I never went to it :(.

Great picture!!

What part of Middle TN are you from?

I went to both Jr. & Sr. prom. Had a wonderful time, made alot of good memories.

Yes I went to mine. Our school had a JR/SR prom and I went as a Jr and as Sr.
During my Sr year my boyfriend was also a Sr but at another high school and we went to his Sr prom too.

I went Jr and Sr years. My boyfriend at the time was 4 yrs older but he went with me anyway. My senior year my Mom made my dress. It cost $35 in material and was beautiful. I had the most fun that year.

I didn't go to either of mine.

Junior year I could have gone with a friend, but didn't want to since all my friends were going with their "serious" boyfriends.

I didn't get asked my senior year. My Mom was terminally ill at the time and she thought it was just awful that I wasn't going. She kept trying to get me to go with a student from the college where she worked. Blind dates for prom was kind of a tradition in our family since my Mom and sister both had one. I told her that it just wasn't that important to me. I was more worried about her than I was about going to the Prom.

Yep, went to both Junior and Senior Prom -- I dated a girl in my class from Sophomore year on into college, so the two of us went to both of them. :)

I went to my senior prom and had a miserable time. My date was my best guy friend and we were clearly uncomfortable in that situation (later found out he was gay). We had a really bad meal, prom itself was boring, and my best girl friend and her boyfriend were fighting (now married :teeth: ). The best part was after the prom when the four of us spent the night at my date's house. We had a blast just hanging out. It's always been a mystery that my parents let me stay over at Brad's, but I guess they knew what was to come! :confused3

I went to my senior prom thirty years ago with my DW. We were HS sweethearts, and we've been together ever since.
