Did you go out for pizza as a kid?

Nope - My parents couldn't afford it. We never ate out. I remember how excited I was going out for pizza with friends when I moved out.

No we didn’t have Pizza when I was a kid. We ate at other restaurants, just not pizza places. I don’t think I had Pizza till high school.

We had a bar in our neighborhood that made the best pizza and antipasto salads. We used to go relatively often, on I think Monday night (whichever night they had their slow-night carry-out special), if we had sports or scouts in the evening. I used to love it when I was very small because I'd sit with my dad while we waited for our order, and he'd have a beer and I'd have a Coke with grenadine.

My mom always made pizza. And instead of the milk we always drank with dinner, we got to have soda. But it was diet soda, which I still don’t like to this day. And also to this day, I can’t drink milk with pizza, because it doesn’t “go together.”

I also make pizza but we do go out for it once in a while too.

Cute! Nowadays that could never happen. How good is good enough? What about poor students - don't they have a right to free pizza too? And don't forget Snowy, whose bad marks are the fault of the teachers who just don't understand...

I grew up in the 70s and 80s, and we used to go to Pizza Hut sometimes. (I remember "pan pizza" and loving being able to make my own salad!)

If we had take-out pizza, it was more likely from a place called Pudgies - as they made large sheet pizzas for parties.

Oh, and when I was a teenager, a counter serve, by-the-slice place opened up downtown, and I went there quite a bit, too.

Not only did we not go out for pizza... i don't remember ever eating pizza until i was in High School at some social event.. There were no pizza shops in my home town.. if we were gonna eat it, it would be the frozen store bought and mom didn't go that route.. she made most of our meals from scratch.. or at least what i would deem scratch..

Nowadays, we can't go a week without ordering pizza delivery. Its mainly a convenience more so than what i consider a tasty meal... I do like pizza just not the typical Papa Johns or Dominoes delivery type... My favorite brand store pizza is Marcos.. but i don't order delivery, i go pick it up because its so close...

When my kids were in elementary school (8-10 years ago) Pizza Hut did this for completing a reading log. Which all the kids had to do.

Some companies still give away free things for reading so many books.
Barnes and Noble and our local amusement part (a Six Flags park) are two I can think of off the top of my head.

Not really as my family were penny-pinchers. We would do takeout (usually from Little Caesars). But I don't think we ate pizza that much back in the day anyway.

I don't think I had pizza from a restaurant until high school in the late 80s. And not very often then, maybe once or twice a year for a birthday or similar. We didn't eat out often, and pizza was expensive. I remember the occasional Burger Chef (loved the orange soda!), and Dairy Queen. For a nice meal, it was a local mom-and-pop buffet place.
Of course, college in the 90s was all about the pizza. And we could get delivery there!

Pizza was one of the regular menu items in the school lunchroom rotation here in the 1960's, so I had it, and it cost exactly the same as any other menu entree. We just didn't go out to eat it as a family because it was so darn expensive at pizza places (and really, still is, having dropped $54 on 3 medium pizzas last night)

I went to elementary school/middle school in the 80's in Massachusetts. Back then we'd go to Papa Gino's (pizza chain) a few times a year, and probably ordered a pizza to be delivered/pick up a couple times a month.
We moved and I was in high school in California in the early 90's. We'd still get a pizza delivered/pick up a few times a month, but I don't remember ever actually sitting in a pizza place and eating it in California. There were different chains/restaurants in California (I remember ordering from Little Cesars a lot in California, not sure we had those in Massachusetts in the 80s) plus by that time my brothers and I were older and busy with tons of activities, so pizza was more out of convenience as opposed to an event.

YES we did. Grew up in a highly Italian populated area with real, real, good pizza places.

And we made our own pizza too. WHY? the bakeries made their own fresh dough, and the delis had the best fresh sausage and cheese.
