Did You Ever Star

My dad got picked to be the news anchor! It was in '89, and our first trip to MGM. It was hysterical, because my dad, while really sweet and funny around his family, is very quiet and reserved in public, and won't draw attention to himself at all. He was the first one picked when we were waiting outside the theater, and the MC first made him come up and yell into the microphone, "What time is it?" (to which the correct answer is, "Howdy Doody time!!!") several times. Then he was taken backstage, and we didn't see him again until the lights came up on the set and there he was, dressed in a suit coat and reading the news. It was great and I really wish I had it on video. It's probably the only time in his life he has done something like that.

For the person in the soap scene, it was "General Hospital." The scene was with Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring).

Considering that attraction closed when I was like 13, it's strange I should know that.

Anyway, the CM picked my twin brother and I for the Letterman skit. Unfortunately, the kid behind me ran up with my brother!

I was crushed about it....alas, it was not meant to be!

Oh, I REALLY miss this show! My cousins and I used to be picked to be in the show all of the time. I remember twice I was in the Tonight Show skit talking about dropping a turkey off the top of a building... LOL

Nope never did that.....for some reason I do not remember SuperStar TV so I am sure I never stared in it. I've been to MGM many times is it possiable to never see it? :confused3

I was Ethel Mertz in the I Love Lucy skit. It was so much fun!! I couldn't believe they picked me.

I believe it was 1989 when my two friends and I were picked to be in the Cheers scene. It was a lot of fun; wish they would have something similar again.

I was, let's see... the 'lead' Vonzell in the Ed Sullivan scene, and on a later visit I was Ethel in the candy factory. I also got picked as an extra for Indiana Jones (and really aggravated the woman sitting next to me - the Casting Director wanted somebody who could scream, and I did :))
I miss it, too, and really wish Disney would bring it back!!!
