Senior Skip Day was the one and only time. My younger brother, now that's another story.

I was WAY too afraid of getting caught. But my friend and I used to go around to the rooms (while we supposed to be student assistants) and collect the pink slips with the kids' names who WERE skipping classes. Those kids never even knew that we saved them on a daily basis from being put on the absentee list...

Oh yeah and I usually got busted. Let's see jr. high Norfolk VA. (Navy brat) a group of us skipped for 3 days in a row. We were hanging out at a girls house that mom worked. Somehow a couple of the moms found out. We heard a pounding on the front door it was my mom and another mom was at the back door. Got in alot of trouble that time. Then a year later me and a few friends got off the bus and hung out downtown. I can't even remember what we did that was so great but we got in trouble for that too. One day a bunch of us skipped with our parents permission. There was some racial problems in the high school near our jr. high and rumors were flying that it was going to be bad at our school so we all went to the beach! In high school it was the occasional ditching a class here and there especially after lunch.

I'm sure I pretended to be sick tons of times to get out of going to school in the first place, but there was only one time I actually left the building after already arriving at school.

A friend took me out riding on the beach in his suv. It was great fun, but we got busted by the truancy officer as we were trying to sneak back into school. That woman was everywhere!

I was an A+ to B+ student and hung out with the smart kids. My sister was the stoner who skipped school a lot. HElllooooo, our mom ran the admissions office, how stupid can a person be....?

I, on the other hand, skipped class so much it was an art form. I was sick, female problems, stressed out over admissions, "look, I passed my classes and got into the college you wanted, I'm taking Friday off and going to the beach" days, telling one teacher another teacher needed me for something and vice-versa, journalism things that really needed my attention...

And I still had great grades.

I wasn't a sickly kid. In fact I went through a couple of years in grade school without missing a day. SO...when I got to middle school / High school my parents let me take mental health days. If I just didn't feel like going in I would tell them. Usually I had to do some sort of chore around the house...but if I really just didn't feel like going to school a simple chore was nothing.

I turned 18 in Feb. of my Sr. year of high school and could sign myself out. Now that was FUN!!!

oh yeah... shhh dont tell my kids. :rotfl2:

I actually only got busted once though after skipping several classes over a week. I was given detention and was such a good girl that the detention guard said " are you SURE youre supposed to be here?" I said yeah and he said " I want you to go to the vice principal" I went to see him (he loved me) and I said " Mr Small they scare me in there" he laughed and said yeah right... but I wound up having lunch detention with him in his office every day that week instead LOL. I did paperwork for him and we talked and talked.

It was great, I really miss that guy!

Yep, I did skip school, but I didn't go anywhere lol. It's pretty stupid now that I think of it. My mom and step dad left for work before I went to school and got home much later. I would just stay home :confused3 . The only catch is that my step dad would come home for lunch. My room was upstairs (the only room up there..) so he never had reason to check. I got caught once because I did it 2 days in a row and the school called. I don't remember getting in that much trouble though.

Other than that I was a good kid, so maybe my mom didn't want to make a big deal of it.

I never skipped in high school but I did skip in college a few times.

Sometimes. I am a bad seed. My parents took the train into the city for work. I'd call them moments after I should have been in school and tell them I wassick. I liked to give my dad the "cramps" excuse, since he never wanted to challenge that. Then, I'd go nextdoor to my friend's house (her parents worked, too) and wait for the school nurse to call telling me my friend was sick and I needed to come get her (nurse assumed I was mom). Then I'd go pick her up (years ago, so they just let her walk out, no need to sign her out). Then we'd go to the mall.

In high school skipped a couple times and went to my boyfried's (now my husband) house. He had already graduated, but was living at home while going to college. I was really sly about it and thinking back now makes me realize how I have to watch my DD like a hawk when she's that age. I definitely don't want her to be doing that!

In college I definitely skipped some classes. But you really have to figure out which classes you can skip and not get too far behind.
You did why can
t she? unfair much

Frequently - I hated my after lunch classes and last classes of the day. So I frequently stayed at home swimming and suntanning in the summer and we would gravel run the rest of the time.

My girls rarely ever skip school - I am not sure where they came from LOL!

Skipping and having fun was just a part of high school and growing up.

Are you 15 or something? I had spectacular grades but did some stupid things that I'd rather she not emulate. Would you let your child do anything they wanted (no matter how dangerous), just because you were able to sneak around and do it when you were younger?

My mother taught at my High School.

Skipping was impossible.

Bummer.

I skipped school when I was allowed to write my own excuse notes. We'd go to the beach, the mall, or even San Diego depending on the time of day we left school. I remember the wood working teacher who would watch students coming and going. His room had axcess to the student parking lot. I remember my friend waving to him one time as we were leaving. I was .

If my kids ever "ditch school" I'd want to know where they were.

I chose other...only because I can't guarantee it..but I dont THINK I ever did.. EXcept Senior Ditch Day...but when the school sponsors it..I dont' think it counts... LOL

Me? No, my parents would have killed me! My daughter, however -- that's a different story altogether! When she was a senior every time the phone would ring I was afraid to look at the caller ID for fear of seeing the school district's name!:scared: She's now finishing up her MBA, but that senior year was the year from H E double hockey sticks!:scared1:
