We call it playing hookie or truant here.
Was it a one time thing, never have, or a regular occurance?

Me - nope, not even once. My parents would of killed me if I had, so I never took the risk!

I did one time, and we went and hung out in the King Soopers parking lot down the street. Very stupid!!!!!! I have no idea why everyone ditched class to hang out at King Soopers. :confused3

I did on Senior Skip Days during my senior year. That was it though. I loved getting attendance exemptions for final exams, so I showed up.

Yes, in Highschool all the time. I got caught once and got suspended for 1 day.

I skipped my first hour class for most of the first semester my senior year. lol I didn't like the teacher and I didn't need the credit.

I moved out during my senior year and could write my own notes (and they actually made me right a note - lol). My principal didn't like it at all, but there was nothing he could do - I was 18 and had my own appartment.

Yep, I did it but my mom always knew. I bunch of kids skipped and their parents didn't know I wonder how they explained the fresh sunburn or boat that sunk that was "borrowed" from home without permission during one of our skip days.

Me too. My Mom said she would rather know I was skipping and know where I was then not know and God forbid something happened to me.

During my senior year, after we were accepted to college, it got soooo hard to sit in school. I don't remember completely skipping a whole lot, but we did "escape" quite often. My best friend and I had a routine of walking together to study hall and passing a doorway to the outdoors and just ducking out of it. We'd walk downtown, walk back, and go on with our day. I do not know how we never got caught. :confused3

I only skipped school once! I went to audition for a TV show, it was a dance audition for the show "In Living Color" and they were choosing one of the fly girls. That was the audition where they chose Jennifer Lopez. I pretty much danced/performed everyday when I was a teen so I thought I was hot enough to audition but it turned out I bombed horribly b/c I got too nervous when I spotted some celebrities there.

NY DISNEY FAN You'll always be our Fly Girl!

And no never skipped school. My freshman year the busdriver actually took a bunch of the seniors to the beach for the day instead of school!!! He got fired.

I did frequently, but only during one year. I was "forbidden to ever see" a boyfriend. So, to spend extra time together we skipped school. We only skipped a full day here and there, but we would come in two classes late one day or leave before last class another day. I was an excellent student, extremely polite and respectful, and I was allowed to get away with it for a long time. My teachers never said anything and my parents were completely unaware until I got a new spanish teacher and she wrote me up after I missed a certain number of classes. When I got called to the office, my mom was already there and had been told that I had missed over 80 classes. Of course it was my fault, but my mom was furious that they had allowed me to do it for so long.

Not a full day ever. I skipped classes quite a lot my junior and senior year. I had ways of making it look legit though so I never got in trouble.

I exaggerated how sick I was a couple times- ie had a cold and could have stuck it out but figured I'd rather stay home. I skipped and went camping on Senior Skip Day, but our school all but endorsed it. I also skipped some pep rallies and hung out in the choir room instead. So yes, I'd say I skipped occasionally, but it was pretty tame all things considered.

Yep, but it is always with my parents permission. I'd never tried the "fake going to the busstop but miss the bus" thing. I'm not that bold, I'd get my rear whooped if my parents found out.

Mental health days? Yes.
Enough for the truancy officer to come around? No.

Oh gosh, I have to tell this story. It'll feel good to get off my chest.

When I was a senior in HS my last class in my last semester was a free period. Supposed to be used for study hall, but you could apply to be a teachers aide. So I did, and got a teacher that was older and grumpy, but really liked me. Sometimes I'd grade papers, other days he'd just say he had nothing for me to do and I could go to the library or study hall.

So after a few weeks of every other day him having nothing for me to do then sitting in the liibrary bored, I thought---heck, I can just leave. No one would know. So I did. Walked right to my car and left. Went to the mall, McDonalds drive thru for a Coke. Thought I was the stuff!!!

I'd leave early about 2 days a week. One day I even saw our guard as I was leaving. I just smiled and waved bye and he smiled and waved bye back. :rotfl: He probably thought I was on the Co-Op program or something. (in my school if you had a job you could apply to leave school early and go to work, and get credit for it). Plus, I was labeled "a good kid", so he had no reason to think otherwise I guess.

Ah, those were the days.:thumbsup2

I did. I went to high school across the street from a major shopping mall. Who didn't skip school? :rotfl:

Only a couple of times. Didn't seem like it was worth the crap you'd suffer if you got caught.:confused3

One time. And it wasn't even school that I ditched. It was some world community event going on that we were supposed to be attending at a local college. We went, made sure the teacher saw us, then bailed out and hit the mall. I was SO nervous the whole time! In fact, I was so nervous I didn't even enjoy myself and I never did it again.

i hated high school, spanish, who cares, algebra, i sure use that every day, french, oui! phys ed, phew! biggest problem was nobody ever "got it" and the same questions were answered over and over and i'm like, what did you not understand? so bored. as a result i missed 46 days my senior year, escaped with my diploma and went into sales where i have made a very good living all my life. oh, and the smart kids who loved school and went to some version of it till their mid twentys? most of them make much less than i do. this is not a slight on them. to each his own. i think some of education is a waste. they should teach life experience. if i am ever in a tough spot give me a street wise person over a book worm any day.
