Did you ever see an armadillo in WDW?

We have one that lives in a hole under our front porch. He comes out at night and digs around in the yard for grubs. I think they are really neat since they are one of the few prehistoric animals that are still around. They are like little dinosaurs!:)

Yes, we saw one.

It was the evening. We were taking the boat from OKW to Downtown Disney. The CM piloting the boat saw something along the banks of the canal and shone a light on it. It was an armadillo.

Any other of these critters that we spotted were less than alive.;)

Got a glimpse of one while riding a bus back to my hotel on my first trip. The bus driver yelled out, “Armadillo!” and pointed out the window. I hadn’t realized there were armadillos in the US, let alone in Florida! I wasn’t sure what the man said, but I looked out the window anyway and saw it. It looked so unreal to me. I wish I’d gotten a better look.

We didn't see any *in* WDW but did see three of them on the entrance road leading to WDW.

Not at WDW, but...

As I was driving to work last week, I saw a woman pull her car over on the side of the road and get out with a camera. I couldn't figure out what she was taking a picture of until I looked in the middle lane. There was a dead armadillo, on it's back, with its arms wrapped around a beer can! It made it look as if he had passed out after a big party ;) I felt bad for the little guy, but it was pretty funny!

This has got to be a joke, right? Everyone knows that armadillo's can't walk....all they do is imitate pancakes in the middle of the road.................

which brings me to this point:

Why did the chicken cross the road?

To prove to the armadillo that it can be done.:smooth:

I've seen them pretty consistently from the bus coming from MK to OKW (or vice versa) close to dusk in the area of grass across from POR as you head toward MK.

I know you Southerners must think we are nuts....sort of like getting excited over a squirrel to you guys.

Yes, I am having a chuckle. Besides armadillos, down here we are used to alligators basking in the sun this time of year. There is a six- footer who lives in a pond next to the road- I see him most every sunny day on my way into town basking on the edge of the pond.

Here's one you all can laugh at- we get excited over chipmunks when we travel to the north!! We don't have them down here, just brown squirrels and big, beautiful Fox squirrels.:)

My favorite thing I love to see in FL is the clouds. It may be that I just don't get out much, lol, but the clouds in FL are the biggest, puffiest I have ever seen. I love watching them.

We saw them at Fort Wilderness pretty much every day!

Cute! :D

We had a family of armadillos living beneath our cabin at FW.
Whenever we came home at night they would be hanging out in the front yard.

Yep - have seen one on almost every trip at POR Riverside.

I have seen a bunch of them. Mostly in the median of the roads. I always try to point them out, but Holly always misses them. It has nothing to do with how fast we pass them either. :P

We have also seen a bald eagle on the side of the road. It was with a bunch of vultures, eating "something".

Ted

No, cause I think they're ALL IN OUR FRONT AND BACK YARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are digging it up like they were trying to get to China, or something! My DH HATES them!

Yep...you can see all kinds of animals around here. We call the armadillo.....'possum on the half shell......:p

If I was an armadillo, I'd pretty proud of myself right about now. This thread has gone much farther than I ever dreamed. ;)
