Did you bring your car seat?

We are flying in, then renting a car before and after the cruise. It is not a huge deal for me to include a car seat rental with Budget, but if I can save the $$ per day I would like to do so. Here is the question, what the heck to do with it once you are on the ship? I think it may make for a bit a tight fit in the room as I do not think it will fit in the closet and I know it will not fit under the bed.

At this point, I am thinking I will probably just pay the extra $$ for the rental, but I thought I would see what others have done and gather any insight.

Thanks

If you are flying in you should have it with you on the plane to secure the child in anyway then you could just have it with you to use in the car. If you are keeping the rental car then leave it in the car when you get on the ship, if not there is plenty of room i nthe closet for it.

I agree. Take your own carseat. You never know what the rental agencies will have -- what would you do if you got there and they didn't have a seat?! Yikes, that thought alone would have me bring the seat.

I used the seat on the plane for my DD and then stored it in the closet on the ship. Plenty of room.

There is also room by the bathroom for it. We had a bulky double stroller and had no problem putting it there. We used the closet for an opened suitcase to store dirty clothes

I brought a carseat on both of our cruises and did not have much difficulty storing the seat. Once we stored it in the closet (it was tight, but it did fit and it was a large seat and a cat 11 inside stateroom). Last time, we stored it in the corner of the room and it fit fine. When DD was about a year, we rented a carseat with our rental car. Yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck. Even my DH who hates bringing extra baby gear on the flight with us won't rent again. Plus, the rental car agencies won't promise availability of their carseats. Also, even if someone was in a fender bender, the type of carseats most rental car agencies use would not be safe to use again. I don't trust them to remove the seat from circulation even though they should. Now we use our carseat on the flight and find it super helpful to keep our baby quiet and sleeping.

As someone who worked for one of the major car rental agencies for years (worked in a NY office, not FL), bring your own! Trust me! The ones from MCO shouldn't be too bad but if you're renting from Cape Canaveral to go back to the airport, the smaller offices don't have the best stock, if any at all. Personally, we always bring our own where ever we go. :)

BTW, I agree about the airplane, definately use it!

I thought I heard somewhere, possibly here, that you could ask the cabin stewart to store it for you? Anyone know if that is possible?

We rented the cae seat from budget so we would not have to store it in the cabin. It worked great for us. I do not remember it being a daily charge. Seems we paid a flat rate of 9.00 (could have been less). We have also used a limo service and rented one from them.
