I am wondering whether I am on the only to look at my photographs and realize that they were almost all taken out of town. I had a few pictures taken at Disney and so on, but I had none taken of my husband or myself at local landmarks. That is pretty surprising considering that we have lived in a major tourist destination for over 20 years. This is a situation that I have tried to fix over the last couple of weeks.

What percentage of your pictures are vacation pictures and what percentage are of local spots?

I have very few pictures taken in our town, other than the pictures of DD at horse back riding, outside in our yard swimming in the pool, getting our yearly Christmas tree, DD waiting for the bus the first day of school each year.

I tend more to get pictures of DD each year at my mothers vacation home, more than here around our house.

Good suggestion to get more pictures in our home town.

You're right. I grew up in a tourist destination too and I have practically no pictures from my childhood that reflect that. I tried to take more with my girls but it still doesn't even come close to what we take on vacation.

One project I'm planning on working one "someday" is a little album of places that have been significant in my life - schools, workplaces, houses I've lived in, etc. with a photo of each and journalling of why they were significant.

I grew up in Chicago and I don't think I have a single photo of any of the famous buildings, stadiums or other touristy attractions. My love for photography is relatively recent (couple years) and I moved away in 1999. One summer towards the end of high school, a friend and I did visit many of the touristy locations, most we hadn't been to before, but I didn't take any pics then of them.

I rarely visit Chicago for long periods of time, usually we rush, visit with my parents and go home. Sam did not like sleeping at their house when he was younger, so we stopped overnight visits. It's been a couple years and maybe I will try again sometime and do some touristy things... and take pictures!

My current town is in the middle of nowhere, Indiana, and there are no sites of interest to take pics of!! LOL

Just at my dad's party, but it's of the party not us.

I want to start visiting all the states with the kids so we are going to play tourist here first. Then I will get our hometown pics! Good Goal, thanks!

Don't you have the big famous stuffed cow at one on the parks? :rolleyes1

I don't have many of my hometown...but I do have one photo of my senior class out in front of the covered bridge that was just demonlished by the F3 tornado a few weeks ago.... maybe one from 8th grade graduation that my Aunt bought my dress for and took me (my parents didn't want to go.. long story)... oh and I HATED the dress... too fru/fru filly for me!

I have photos of my kids in the backyard..but nothing touristy... Some of downtown though... especially the canal and the zoo...

Ok, off to fix lunch for the boys @ soccer camp... and make a note to take more hometown photos for my kids...because as we all know.. the towns change while we sleep at night!
