Did they think the water was enough?

Saw on FB that the flies are now getting inside the fantasy - showing up in the MDR’s. Seems like a huge problem.

Sooo glad we didn’t pay $6000+ for the 6 night on the fantasy that goes to LP in the fall. I will gladly take the $3300 VGT rate in September that goes to castaway.

Wow. You think Mags was attacking you? She has been so kind and sweet and helpful to everyone here. She has never been rude or “attacked” anyone. Most people would jump at the chance to have her help and even pixie dust them which she has done numerous times. Smh.

She was rude telling someone it was unhealthy to ruminate over the things missing on lookout. It was a passive aggressive accusation that someone wasn’t mentally well. Unacceptable.
Im sorry you feel that way. I was not meaning to be passive aggressive and certainly was not implying anyone was mentally ill. The comment is deleted, there is no need for further discussion

I don't think telling someone not to ruminate is implying they are mentally ill. If someone thinks that they no very little about mental illness.

What I would love to see is a third cay that goes all out on the Disney theming, as a sort of counter balance.
That would either be totally amazing or an epic fail. There is no middle ground for that. What are you picturing? What do you envision? I want to like the idea, I'm just not sure what it means.
okay, have to admit, I wouldn't mind a third island that really went all out including some theme rides. is it too much to ask for an island sized pirates of the carribean?
Maybe not a theme park style ride, but I love the idea of a pirate ship that you can walk on and explore.

Well I can't just describe it, I need to do a presentation where a visual rendering rises out of the mist while epic music plays. 😂

Seriously, though, my thought would be:

- First and foremost, it would be themed to something like "Love For Our Beautiful Oceans" (ok the name needs some work...) so they can bring in all the aquatic Disney characters.

- For food and shop areas, theming more at the level of what you would see at the resorts (with more Disney touches, like Nemo statues, or stone walls with Disney character carvings similar to Fantasy Springs, as the resorts don't always have a lot of the characters).

- Pool areas (lagoon, lazy river, kids pool, etc.) themed to natural beauty similar to the way they are at Aulani, with characters incorporated. A lazy river with character paintings or statues or movie easter eggs or even interactive Magic Band spots to spot as you go, or a Captain Hook pirate ship splash pad with water cannons, or a funny Ursula statue holding bottles of liquor at the pool bar, etc.

- A bunch of "Oooo. Neato!!" areas, lol. Maybe take the technology from Journey of Water and build a cool interactive walk-through attraction... a pirate's treasure hunt where you follow clues and can actually unlock a prop treasure chest with glowing treasure at the end... a cave walk-through attraction where you tap your MagicBand to certain points and it activates Pirates of the Caribbean projections on the cave walls... maybe something like the "Sketch Aquarium" technology where you can draw your own fish and see it in a virtual ocean, but with some Disney characters swimming alongside your creation... that type of thing.

- For the beach areas, maybe a few fun touches, like a couple of sand sculptures or a small sculpture of Ariel's treasures so it looks as if you just happen upon them in the sand.

I realize more characters and more activities aren't up everyone's alley - pristine beaches are amazing as well. That's why I said I think something more character-intense would be more like a contrast to the other cays.

Glad we're not visiting until next July. The kinks should be worked out by then - especially the flies situation. Based on what I've seen so far, my enthusiasm/excitement for LC has diminished significantly.

I like most of your ideas. To me, if you're at the beach, it seems silly to have a pool.

The interactive elements would probably work better with the Key to the World Card, because everyone on the island is already going to have that. I like the idea of the pirate treasure hunt, which I am picturing as a midship detective agency type thing on land. You get clues, you go from location to location, just without the screens.

The bar at the adult themed section is themed to Ursula.

A pool area on an island and beach resort is almost af every single resort ever. Options. If you don’t want to go go the pool go to the beach. Disney could’ve had a lazy river around the island where nature as all around and little Disney touches and an area that’s like coco cay where families can enjoy and where adults can congregate and have some beverages.

I'm more of an ocean person as well (the snorkeling at Lookout Cay looks fantastic) but having a little, it's just so much easier for him to paddle around a pool in a life jacket.

I generally prefer ocean too but in the winter months when ocean temps are really chilly, I wouldn’t say no to an infinity pool with ocean views and warmer water.
Now obviously we don’t want this:

I mean, now that I see it… I kind of would love a castle! They could do little mermaid’s castle or a sandcastle (like the pool slide at Old Key West) to fit in with the coastal theme and have an indoor restaurant inside—no flies!

While an unfinished island shouldn’t be the case, it’s pretty clear Disney is limited on what can be built here. Seeing as they agreed to avoid building directly on the land as much as possible, that probably voided any ideas of pools and etc. Hope they’re able to continue plussing it to their best ability, while sticking to what they promised the Bahamian government.

I love this idea! Disney doesn't have enough of that kind of thing. I remember going to Storybook Land in NJ and Dutch Wonderland in PA when I was little. They would have the shoe to walk through for the Old Women Who Lives in the Shoe and a hill to climb like jack and jill with a slide for tumbling down. They had all sorts of little nursery rhyme-themed play scenes around te park. I loved climbing on them. I also love the idea of finding hidden interactive "treasure chests" around the island and a lazy river that ran around the island. Or what about mini self-driving boats around the island that could take you from what part to the other.

I'm not sure I'd agree with that conclusion. Perhaps it was a conscious choice by Disney to limit the impact of construction on that part of the island?
