OK , let me get this straight ...... i Know its " suppposed to be" EMH is for Hotel guests only . Right , ok It Seems last time i was there the were pretty much letting Everyone stay , you just had to have an armband to ride the rides .. NOW, they Make you Leave if you dont have an armband.
Is this true ? ....

Last time I was there they did check armbands and they did move you towards the exit if you did not have one.

I don't think it's so much about changing the rules, as it is about more enforcement of the policy that was already in place.

I would be so happy if they just enforced the rules already in place. I mean, after all, why have rules if you don't enforce them??

Exactly.
It's also somewhat the guests fault because they are not paying attention to/ following the rules.

Last time we were at Epcot 3 years ago, we got an wrist band without showing our resort key. Everyone was getting a wristband without showing there resort key. We stayed at the POP so we were legit but I wondered just how many weren't.

rules never changed to the best of my knowledge. EMH were never exclusive to disney (and the others) resort guests only. those guests are able to get a wristband to visit attractions, but any offsite guest is able to stay and continue to shop or dine at open locations.

parties on the other hand are exclusive to those with wristbands.

I agree, they need to enforce this rule as much as possible. It is one of the best perks to staying onsite in my opinion!

If it is a special ticketed event (MNSSHP, MVMCP, MPPP) and you do not have a wristband they will not allow you into any store or food service location or attraction starting at 7:00. Also you will not be able to purchase anything from a cart or kiosk, and they will also block entry deeper into the park and suggest you leave.

For EMH not having a wristband only means that you will not be allowed into or on any attraction.

Sadly this does not work as intended. In December, we were there for MVMCP and on several occassions, we saw CMs allowing people without writbands not only into the stores to shop, but also purchasing a lot of MVMCP items.

I know I've posted this before but I was very angry when we went to an EMH and there was a lady and (I think) five kids in front of us to get wristbands. When they asked for her room key as proof, she went OFF on the CM screaming that she had already told the "other" CM (I guess the one at the front of the line directing people to the wristbands? :confused3 ) that her husband had all the room keys and that he wouldn't be back for some time. Instead of making her wait, they went ahead and gave her the wrist band. She walked past that CM to her husband who was waiting 10 ft away and said "well, that was easier than I thought."

I have no idea if they were staying on property or not, but if they were and the husband was right there, why not show your room key??? That left me with a very bad taste in my mouth.

Last time I was there I noticed someone without a wrist band shopping and then pointed it out to about 6 people and they said "Who gives a care" but the 7th said that they are alowed to shop and dine without being a resort guest wich I can understand because disney is making more monehy off of their standerd addmisson with them shopping and dining but I sort of think that it is like trustpassing on Disney's property. And when I rode rides they didnt check. But overall I am :confused3

I would never call someone like that a "lady":) LOL I dislike rule breakers too!

I'm SURE that "lady" was not the term I was using in my head--but to keep the DisBoards as clean as possible, guess I had to resort to that!! :lmao: ;)

Thanks for the info!:) I always had thought that the "official" WDW policy was that the ENTIRE park was only open for WDW Resort Guests during Evening EMH.Are offsite Guests now allowed to shop and dine during Morning EMH also or is it just for Evening EMH?Thanks.:)

Offsite guests are not admitted to morning EMH.

During normal closing, many of the stores stay open for another 1/2 hour to hour. So what's the big deal about offsite guests being allowed to shop after official close time when it's EMH. I doubt Disney is going to throw them out of the stores. As long as they are not allowed to get onto attractions.

I have been going to the late EMH since 1998 (WOW, 10 years!) and have always seen the cast members enforce the wrist bands: No band, no ride. I don't really care if folks are shopping/eating that aren't resort guests but they had better not be in line for the attractions :lmao: .

As for the "lady liar" and her heard of off-spring, I would have reported the cast member who caved in. They are specifically instructed to scan a valid KTTWC for EVERY guest, no exceptions and I am sure his/her manager would like to have known. Policies are in place for a reason.

Late EMH (EMH, in general) has only been around since about 2003 (or so.)

Before that, there were E-Ride Nights, that were at an extra charge (special ticket) and on selected nights, only at Magic Kingdom.

I don't have a huge issue with those who manage to stay inside the park during an evening EMH without the wristband. But, if I see a CM allowing that person onto an attraction or getting something to eat or such, then I question it. If someone wants to just 'hang' in the park, but do no riding, shopping, eating, then so be it. But, do not take away from my experience..and allowing them to be in line ahead of me at the counter service restaurant or in line at BTMRR, is taking away from my experience, that I have paid for via my resort rates.

I do at least one evening EMH each trip....most times it's two or three. I have yet to see the CMs allowing guests to 'get away' with not having a room ID. I have seen them turn people away though. And, I was sure to thank the CM when I got to them. I have also been asked, for at least the first 90 mins of EMH, to show my wristband in order to get into an attraction. And again, thank the CM who asked me to show it.
