I was wondering if anyone had read this book and got offended. I heard teh Catholic church is not very fond of this book.

I read it and loved it. Since it is FICTION I see no reason for the Catholic church to get up in arms about it.

It didn't bother me but I'm not a religious person at all. I found it interesting, especially the details about the Da Vinci artwork. I never noticed the extra hand in the painting or how one of the disciples was made to look more feminine. In thinking about the movie, I was surprised that they cast Tom Hanks for the lead. He wasn't what I pictured Robert Langdon to look like.

I thought it was alright. I thought some of the language was a little distracting, as I had no idea what half the words meant. Also, some of the book was a little graphic if you ask me...aka creepy sex stuff!

I wasnt offended at all...can't wait to watch the movie :)

No, the Catholic church is NOT fond of it!! :)

Probably because it seems to completely discount the catholic dogma! But hey - it's a work of fiction.

People can say whatever they want, and believe whatever they want.

NOT AT ALL!!! I read the book and I love it, fiction or not, i think it has lot of true also, I am not catholic, and I don't see why would they get offended. The book is awsome, I can't wait to see the movie.

hi
not offensive but boring. it didn't seem nearly as well written as his other books.

Count me in as another person not offended. It was a great read - and any book that can get so many people interested in history (even if it is in part pseudo-history, or theories presented as fact) has to be good.

The writing is a little on the terrible side, so I guess you can say that is a little offensive but it is a work of fiction.
I don't understand people getting worked up about books, movies or games.

I did find myself yelling at his book because it was full of BS, however.

I consider the previous book, actually, Angels and Demons, to be one of the most enjoyable books I've ever read. Da Vinci Code was also extremely good. Since I believe much of the Bible is fiction (sorry folks), I cannot really comment on the controversy because it is just a fiction versus fiction thing to me.

I am an evangelical Christian and was not offended by the book because it is fiction. OT... I saw the trailer yesterday and it looked kind of boring

I really enjoyed the book. Eventhough it is fiction for me it was food for thought!

i'm a christian. read the book and loved it. Not offeneded by the book. I am annoyed by people who believe it's all true, which it isn't.

I read DaVinci but thankfully I had read Angels and Demons first because its such a better book. Had I read Da Vinci first I would have never read another Dan Brown book. I believe he is writing another book now on Freemason's in the USA.

Angels and Demons, Da Vinci and it seems like his next book are all connected with a thin thread of the Illuminati. Now I must admit, before Angels and Demons, I had never heard of the Illuminati and all I can say is WOW!! If anyone is a conspiricy freak, google Illuminati and your mind will be blown. I found it very interesting.

Not really offended, but I do think the author intentionally misled readers by presenting some stuff as fact causing some christians to question some aspects of their faith. I know I myself did some "googleing". I was glad to see some "claims" dispelled by the History Channel and other documentaries. I do think books like this dont help when Christianity seems to be being attacked from all directions these days.

I've read Angles and Demons too, but I read it after The DaVinci Code. I also read Deception Point. Has anyone read Digital Fortress? I'm thinking about reading it also (as soon as I finish Night Fall by Nelson DeMille - great book btw).

I've read them all... they're definitely "good" in the order you have them listed: Angels and Demons, then The DaVinci Code, then Deception Point, then Digital Fortress.

Incidently, reading the illustrated editionsof Angels and Demons and The DaVinci Code is a completely different experience -- and a much better experience (as difficult as that is to imagine) than reading the regular editions.

DD15 read the illustrated version of The DaVinci Code last year and she LOVED it! She is rereading the book now and is still totally fascinated with it. I purposely bought her the illustrated version because I thought she'd get so much more out of reading it.
