Did the BTMRR Refirb get canceled?

Gah, what to do? I've been waiting 2 years since our last trip for my little buddy DS to be tall enough to ride BTMRR and he's fiiiinally there. They announced the closure right after we booked for the last week of April and he and I were both so bummed. I was already so overwhelmed trying to decide on FP+s but I finally nailed them down and booked when my window opened this Monday night. They're not available right now for April, correct? If they open up, I'm scared I'll change ours and then they'll change their minds again!

Fastpasses weren't available when I made them on Monday night. And when I've gone back and looked at them since, I don't think it's opened up. I'll be excited if the ride is open because we didn't ride it last visit, but I guess I will need to redo a few plans a little!

Sigh. Another October visit. Forget the kids -- it's MY favorite ride! Well, fingers crossed that it's open then.

I'm also going the last week of April, but I'm going to leave my FP+'s alone. I'll just plan on doing BTMRR at rope drop on one of my MK days while everyone else is running to 7DMT or A&E. If it's not open, I'll do something else at rope drop.

I randomly checked if I could change one for the 6th and it's not listed as a possible attraction swap.

We are also arriving at the end of April and BTMRR was our favorite ride during our first trip last year, so we were bummed about the refurb. We made our FP selections on Tuesday, and I don't think I'll change them if they open up FP for BTMRR before our trip. On our first day at MK, we already plan to start by heading to Splash at rope drop (after a pre-park opening ADR at Crystal Palace) - so now we'll just head to BTMRR (if it's open) and ride it standby before riding Splash.

If they are both operating, both should be ridable for multiple trips, each, during the first hour or so after rope drop.

We hit Splash and BTMRR at rope drop on a crowd level 9 day in June (standard 8:00 a.m. opening). We were able to ride both of them twice (including a 7 minute breakdown on Splash during our second ride) and even after two rides on each of those things, we were still able to get on Haunted Mansion in that first hour. All with no running/rushing. In fact, the morning we were there, BTMRR didn't open right away so the CMs told us all to do Splash first -- they weren't even letting anyone get in line for BTMRR. We were the first family on Splash and when we got off the ride and walked over to BTMRR they had just started letting people get in line. The first train went out with 10 people on it. If you don't plan to do 7DMT or A&E at rope drop, heading to BTMRR and Splash is a great strategy.

ugh! we are going in Sept and was looking forward to the updated version of BTMRR Oh well! Going during the "off-season" always puts us at risk for closures... we're used to it. It just makes us look fwd to the ride/attraction that much more on our next visit!

September onwards i can understand but 8th August is still very much peak summer season, i would have thought waiting until after labor day would have made more sense when crowds drop dramatically.

The problem with pushing it further is at the back end of the schedule, when they start getting into holiday season. From what I've heard and read, crowds start dropping off by mid August due to school starts.

By then it seems both Frozen and Soarin will be up and running so I guess its a give and take type thing.
That's how I am taking it. We are going in September, and I love BTMR but there are new things that should be open when we go. And MK has so much to do, so it is not a HUGE deal for us. Still stinks though.. we love riding at night.

Also I think if they really are doing budget cuts, it's probably better to put it off until next fiscal year. Which is a total bummer for me of course since I'm going in October. I was looking forward to seeing this, but I guess that means we just go back next year too!

Oh...I forgot about riding at night. I'll have to put that in my plans for one of our MK days. Thank you for the reminder!

Sigh...so very sad about this being pushed back (which seems to be what's happening..)

I am hoping it will be running in April - it will take the sting out of missing Soarin (and Frozen, but I don't know what I'm missing with that so not as big a sting). We probably won't be back for a couple of years, and although we know there's always something closed, we were sad to miss two of our faves.

My daughter and I rode BTMR at night during our April trip last year - it was during the fireworks. We didn't really plan it and I'm not sure why we hadn't gone to SEE the fireworks, but it was amazing! It's one of our favorite memories from our trip!

I thought I had read Small World would be closed in Aug and Sept as well. I can't find it anywhere now. Am I crazy?

I saw that too. I think on Kenny the Pirate's site. Not the most devastating thing to be down. Way easier to handle for my family than BTMRR. :(
