Did she just pee in the grass?

Our 5 year olds were playing in a small kiddie pool in my friends backyard.

My friends daughter had to use the bathroom. My friend goes into her house, gets her daughter's flip-flops, the kid is practically dry by now, and takes her daughter behind the shed to do her business.

She comes back around to the patio and laughs, "Oh, we have a little spot that we do that back there." I just couldn't think of anything to say!

:confused3 What?

I was pretty surprised by this. Don't know why she didn't just take the kid inside to do her business. They do have indoor plumbing! Honestly, I was glad my daughter didn't ask to go because I would have been pretty adamant about her using the real bathroom. My 5 year old even asked me, "Did she just pee in the grass?"

Yeah, there are times when nature calls only nature will do, but not when your bathroom is 20 feet away. Gimme a break.

I dont think it's that bad. We have done it with my kids too, if they are out in the pool swimming. I have hard wood floors and if they aren't completely dry( the kids, not the floor) I am afraid they will slip and fall. We dont do it all the time but I have done it on occasion.

The kid peed behind the shed in her own yard? And this is bad...because?

I would rather have my little boy or girl pee behind a tree or other yard structure than pee in the pool or try to skate across my floor without taking a dive down the stairs just so they can use the john. Poop would be another thing.

The fact that this is not your yard makes it a MYOB moment.

At least she didn't tell her to just do it in the pool.

I'm not one to pee outside, but there are people quite close to me who will and do. :rolleyes1

. My little guy does this sometimes when he has been in the pool, too busy to dry off and doesnt do a really good job at getting all the grass etc off his feet. Has fallen on our hard wood floors a few times. So now he finds the nearest tree, but ONLY if we dont have company lol.

My gf would allow her 4 year old to pee on the deck, through her suit, which turned out to cause problems when she took her to Sesame Place...:scared1:

We used to run the hose on us when we were kids.:lmao: Mainly because no way a parent was going to have a bunch of wet kids in the house.

I'm with the OP on this one - it's nasty.

We have some friends here who have 4 kids - 3 girls and a boy. We were over there one day playing in their pool. Every time one of the kids (boy or girl) had to pee, they were told to run over by the fence and just pee right through their suits. I also found this to be very gross - I mean, some of the pee would still be on their suits when they got back in the pool. Icky!!!!! These kids were all over 7, by the way, so it's not like they were toddlers.

I get the whole "their house, their rules" thing. But I stand by my assessment that it is just eew. We chose to never go over there again to swim.

The kid was only wet up to her waist, she got out of the pool onto cement, so no grass or dirt to track into the house, and as I said, by the time her mom came outside with the shoes to wear in the grass, her legs were completely dry and her suit just damp. They were playing in like a 9 inch pool.

I understand everyone's reasons. First time I've encountered this though, and I know the mom well, and it surprised me coming from her. I don't know if she took off her suit or not, boy I hope she did! Peeing through the suit is really gross! Bad enough that I keep thinking the kid obviously didn't wash her hands after going potty. lol

Now thats just GROSS lol, what if one of them decided to not get back int the pool right away, sitting around in pee and still gross cuz they are getting back in the pool with other people. All around that is gross.

Anytime my little guy has used the tree in the backyard, it hasnt been through the suit icckkk and its a tree that is FAR out of the way.

I don't quite get the ick factor surrounding peeing through a suit. I wear only 2 pieces now because it's easier to deal with, but when I was a kid, I'll admit, I used to do it when I was wearing one pieces. Taking off a one piece and then putting a damp one piece back on is really hard. And urine is sterile anyway, unless you've got some sort of infection, so it's not that much different then just being wet.

At least she went behind the shed and not in full view of everybody.

my neighbors were having a big bbq one year and their grandson, who was about 5 or 6 went and peed on one of the trees in the backyard (no swimming involved in this one). His grandmother told his father to yell at him, so the father said something to the kid about not peeing outside and the kid yelled back across the yard, "Why, you do it all the time" :rotfl2:

ITA. This is why such things as manners are going down the tubes, when children are taught by their own parents that something like this is OK. It all starts in the home. :upsidedowWhen they start doing it on their own in front of people, then what.

My personal take:

I agree with the OP... Not that is is our place to say one word about it... But, I think it is just 'ewwwwww' and is a good example of a parent failing to teach a child manners, respect, cleanliness, etc....
ESPECIALLY with company over!!!!!!

I think it falls in the same category of eating and leaving a trail of food thru the living room, bedroom, etc... just because it might be 'convenient'.... sometimes laziness and convenience are just uncouth. Failing to take the time and effort to walk to a restroom, trash can, etc. does fall into the category of laziness and disrespect.

Sometimes there are extenuating circumstances...
This, IMHO, simply does not qualify.

We did this all the time when I was a kid and we were swimming in the yard. I never thought it was any big deal then, and I don't think it's any big deal now.

IMO the BATHROOM is the only place you should go to the bathroom big or small....

I have to deal with watching ADULTS peeing on the side of the gas station they work at because they are too lazy to walk inside and go to the bathroom and it's just disguisting. You can't miss them, it's the window out of our dining room. gross.

I'm in the ewwww camp on this one.

I can see it if the potty was a long way away and the suit was pulled down...but really, no.

I cam home the other day and found my 3yo peeing off the front porch:confused3
