I called the cops on somebody for leaving their dogs locked in their pickup. It was in the jail/courthouse parking lot! How stupid can people be - it's over 100 degrees out and these poor dogs were in the car. Ok so the windows were down a couple of inches but it took me out 30 minutes to go in and do my business at the clerks office. Dogs were there when I went in and still there when I came out.

I stuck around until the officer showed up but had to get back to work. I hope they get a HUGE fine!

Yeah, I can hear them talking to the cops..."But I was only in the courthouse for a minute". If a person can't sit in a car in the hot sun with no A/C on (even if they do have the windows down an inch or two)...WHY do they think a DOG can take it?

agnes!

I did this once when a man parked his pickup in front of our house, tied his 2 dogs in the bed of the pickup with a bowl of water, and got into his big work truck and drove off, leaving them in the heat on short tethers. I stayed home all day to watch and those dogs would have been in that truck for 9 hours if I had not called animal control. He came to the door and asked me if I had seen anyone take his dogs and I told him no.

Thank you for helping those poor dogs. I hope their owners got huge fines, too!

Good for you!! I hate when I see people leave animals in the car!!

Thank you for doing a good deed. I wish more people would.

On Wednesday I had my good deed moment. My hubby and I had to go up to a large hospital in Philly so he could meet with a surgeon. We used their vallet parking to save time. Anyway, when we were ready to leave and I went over to pay there was someone in front of me. I could see she had some cash in her hand and was counting it and then asked them if there was an ATM nearby. She had her friend with her who was obviously just getting out of the hospital and was clearly not in the greatest shape. :sad1: So, I heard her tell her friend they just needed 3 dollars. I offered her the money but she said no, they'd be fine.

I went ahead and paid for mine and then turned and the woman in the wheelchair who was just getting out of the hospital was in the process of trying to go through her bag and look for money. She noticed me looking at her and glanced my way. I slapped down the 3 bucks and told them to just take it so they could get the heck out of there! I could tell the one woman felt a little weird. She smiled and told me I was a good Samaritan. It was nice but gosh, I wish it didn't seem so odd for someone to do something nice. I would hope if I were that person someone else would help me out!

My DH had to call the police one day, in the summer (a few summers ago) for a dog locked in a car with NO windows down. The police went into the grocery store and made an annoucement for the 'owner of a bla bla car to report to the service desk ASAP'. After 10 mins no one showed, so the police man took out his nightstick and broke open the window!!!!! So now the people had not only a fine, but had to repair their car window.:rotfl: DH left after that, as he knew the dog was then sitting in the A/C of the police cruiser.

I hope they learned their lesson!

It was in the 80's on Friday, and I had to go to the doctor 1 1/2 hours away. I was worn out, and I got there early, so I decided to take a short nap in the car. I cracked the windows a couple inches and opened the sunroof, and tried to sleep, but I couldn't because it was so warm. I ended up closing th windows and just running the car for the half hour while I slept.

I couldn't handle it for more than just a couple minutes before I gave in and ran the air. I don't see how people feel it's OK to leave their pets (and children!!) in vehicles. Fortunately, I had the keys and I could run the engine to stay cool.

EXACTLY. And some stupid dog-owners conveniently forget that a dog can't sweat either, he has to pant it out.

I think anyone convicted or given a ticket for leaving their dog in their car on a hot summer's day should be sentenced to be in that car in the exact same circumstances.

See how they like it.
