Did Kerry Cheat At the Debate?

The rules were nothing was to come to the podium for the debate. www.drudgereport.com There is now a video circulating the internet that clearly shows Kerry pulling something out of his pocket and placing it on the podium. This was in clear violation of the rules or can I not believe "my lying eyes".

videos are easy to fudge...I'd watch the replay at cnn.com, not something that could hae been edited, beofre I made that accusation...

and if he did take something out of his pocket, wouldn't Jim Lehrer have said something?

Funny, the democrats were told to change their foil hats when suggesting Bush had an earpiece?

I can't watch the video on this computer, but a friend looked at it and said it looked like a pen. if it was a pen, big deal, didn't Bush break the rules too when he directly spoke to Kerry?

If that was a pen, I want one of those stealth pens that look like paper! If it was a pen, he wasn't supposed to bring one. If he suruptitiously took a paper out of his pocket, he didn't want to be seen. If Bush broke the "rules" by speaking directly to Kerry, at least it was in front of the entire world.

It was clear the entire debate Kerry was writing stuff down as Bush talked. It was definitely in front of the world. I clearly saw it and Jon Stewart made a joke about it on The Daily Show.

Placed on the podium?? Sounds like a biohazard to me.

Writing "down stuff" wasn't against the rules. Taking something out of his pocket and putting on the podium was.

If you looked closely at the debate, both Bush and Kerry were writing as the other responded. Yes, I saw Bush also do this about half way through.

The window behind them had cameras that they used to show the candidates from the side and Jim Leaher (sp). I believe it was probably okay to make notes for rebuttal.

Dawn, did you watch the debate or listen to it on the radio?

"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."
Did Kerry violate the rules? Perhaps, but I personally don't see that this matters a whole lot one way or the other.

In other post debate news, China and Iran has a response to some of Kerry's foreign policy ideas mentioned in the debate: "Drop Dead!!!" China's nixed the idea of bilateral talks with North Korean:
Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, standing at his side, said the "entire international community" agreed that the six-nation approach was the best way to deal with the problem.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/3705948.stm
Apparently that idea's failed the "global test"!

On the topic of giving nuclear fuel to Iran, here's Iran's response:
TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran on Sunday rebuffed a proposal by U.S. presidential candidate John Kerry who has suggested supplying the Islamic state with nuclear fuel for power reactors if Tehran agrees to give up its own fuel-making capability.

Foreign ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said it would be "irrational" for Iran to put its nuclear program in jeopardy by relying on supplies from abroad.

"We have the technology (to make nuclear fuel) and there is no need for us to beg from others," Asefi told a weekly news conference.

Unofficial handerouter of tin foil hats here. Speaking only for me, my comment wasn't directed at Democrats, it was directed to anyone that makes the decision to automatically believe the earpiece argument.

Have no fear, I've still got a few left for this argument.

Sort of off topic, sort of not.......I just noticed hubby starting a new grocery list for the week. The first item on the list is "tin foil, jumbo roll".
 :p

(we make a LOT of hats) :jester:

DH asked me to send him tin foil in his last box! He said it was for wrapping food, but that must be code for military brainwashing stuff...

I think if he broke the rules it would be front page news! That goes for Bush too! It was scrutinized every second I am sure and if he were to have cheated someone during that broadcast or soon after would have aired it and been on every news program and paper. Although I think it would be neat if I could catch something that no one else ever caught.

Everyone in Massachusetts knows Kerry believes he is so far above everyone else that rules do not apply to him.

For those from Massachusetts, insert a picture of a...
