I have been voting since 1978 on the old Lever type machine!

Today I went to Vote in NE PA!

When I signed in the register to Vote, the Volunteered called out my Party affiliation VERY LOUD. My affiliation is Democrat!

The volunteers were also talking amoung themselves saying how few Democrats came to vote today. One even said "They are all at work"!
(Strange)

They have these new computer "white" boards. Then another volunteer explained to me how use it. Just press the flat (virtual) buttons Then push the BIG green "VOTE" button on the bottom.

I walked into the booth and pushed my choices and then the big Green Vote Button. What was weird was that there were NO lights! NO CLICKS! NO Bings!....Nothing!!!!!

I asked the volunteer workers there if I am suppose to get some type of light, noise....any type of confirmation...THEY SAID "NO"!

They told me "YOU JUST PUSH THE BOARD....THATS IT!''

I thought that was strange. I have been a IT systems Analyst for 28 years now, none of this seems quite right to me. I called a friend who voted earlier, he said that indeed your choices are suppose to light up!

I called the County Election Office, and yes INDEED they said it was suppose to be lit up! They are sending someone over to where I voted, and they will call me back.

I called the Local Democratic Party, they told me they have had MANY calls regarding this same type issue! ALL THE CHOICE SHOULD BE LIT UP, THEN WHEN YOU MAKE A SELECTION IT BLINKS. WHEN YOU PUT THE GREEN VOTE BUTTON, YOU SHOULD HEAR A CONFIRMATION NOISE. I am to call them back after I hear from the Board of Elections!

This is :scared1: My vote has been thrown out!

That is why I always vote absentee because I will be guaranteed a paper ballot.

Wow! Keep pestering the board if you don't hear from them. I would also call your local news station and tell them what happened. Everyone who is using that machine probably got screwed out of their vote!

And here we go!

We had the choice to do paper of electric. I did the paper ballot.

This is why I really don't like computer voting. This is not something you can "redo" later because how does anyone know whether one particular vote counted or not?

Such a shame. I am sorry, OP, that your vote may not have counted. How sad.

They got rid of our lever machines this year too. They said that there was too much cheating with them during the last election. I liked the levers. We had ballots that you had to fill in the rectangle next to your vote in ink. Then you put your completed ballot into a long folder and went to the lady at this big shredder look-a-like machine. She would rip of a number at the bottom of your ballot and give it to you. Then she would slide the ballot (without exposing the ballot) and the machine eats it.

I agree. The no paper trail thing is very bad. OP, I hope you get some real answers.

I am so sorry this happened to you. The only thing you don't get voting absentee is a "I voted" sticker, but on the other hand I can vote at my kitchen table with a Miller Lite.

I don't like the computer machines for the same reason. I wouldn't worry that it's a big right wing conspiracy however, because there are republican and democrat poll watchers at each poll.

Mine didn't have a green button, (I'm also in PA) but I did get a message that said something about thanks for voting, Centre County election board after I was done.

I believe, given the current political climate, most of need something a good bit stronger than Miller Lite!!!

We've had the computer voting machines in NJ for YEARS and nobody has minded and I've not read any reports of problems. NJ is a Blue state and the Democrats win easily here, but I'm sure that has nothing whatsoever to do with it.

Actually, the polling person told Unc very few Democrats voted yet, so I would assume most of the votes (if they were indeed invalidated) on that machine were from Republicans.
