Did I Really Expect Pixie Dust to Cure the 3yr. old melt-down? Arrival Day

party:

Welcome! Where are you located in Kentucky? We are just across the river from Louisville.

Happy 4th of July to everyone!!!!!!:cool2:

We're across the river from Cincinnati---near Ft. Mitchell..a little town called Villa Hills.

A sidebar...my favorite nephew is a U of L grad (on a full ride:wizard:) and is now a Louisville cop. I LOVE Louisville and never miss going to the St. James Art Festival:woohoo:

We go to the St. James Art Festival every year. Lot's of beautiful stuff that I can't afford, ;) but I really enjoy looking.

Subbing! Loving your TR so far!

:rotfl: about channeling Papa Smurf!! I was a HUGE Smurf fan back in the day and I have quoted that to DH more times than I can count!

Looking forward to hearing more about your trip!

This looks like a good one, I'm subbing. And can I just add, I feel your pain. I have 2 3-year olds and today, I would sell them to the gypsies given a chance. Fortunately, they've decided to take a nap. :goodvibes

Okay, so I don't have 2 3 year olds but I do have a 9, 7, and a 2 year old and there are many days I would sell them to the gypsies. Of course I would have to run away before they get the chance to bring them back! ;)

WELCOME everyone!!!!:woohoo:

I haven't been able to put up my next installment just yet. We went out for my sister's birthday yesterday to a Japanese hibachi grill. Owen wasn't acting quite himself and then proceeded to throw up all over the place just as his meal was placed in front of him. :scared1: I have bunco tonight with the girls and then hoping to send to the boys to the sitter so that I can grocery shop and have some "me" time. :flower3:

I hope everyone is having a fantastic week. It is supposed to get up to 97 degrees here today in Indiana. :scared:

I was sitting down to write this update and upload pictures to my Photobucket account to share for this installment, I realized that I don't have many to share today. :confused3

I am a scrapbooker. A lot of my picture taking is to capture either special events, holidays, or milestones of the boys. I had not planned on doing a TR, so I did not take pictures of things like our vacation home. I knew I wouldn't make a scrapbook page of pictures of the house, so I didn't take any. Next time I go to WDW, I will think more like a "trip-reporter" and take more photos!

On With the Trip Report:
So, we were up and out of the Super 8 by about 8:00 at the latest, after a quick sleep and showers for everybody. We got on the road, and of course Owen immediately begins telling us he is hungry. It is a roadtrip tradition that we eat a Cracker Barrel for breakfast at least once. I hand Owen a small bag of "Teddy Grahams" to tide him over and we are on the look-out for a Cracker Barrel.

Around 9:00 we find one, and exit the interstate. Well, as it turned out the place was packed. I didn't feel like waiting with two hungry boys, and there was a Golden Corral right next door, so we chose that. We had a really good breakfast and were back on the road in about 45 minutes.

We were lucky in the respect that we ran into very little traffic congestion or road construction along the way. We took a few potty breaks and let the boys run around for a few minutes every few hours.

Does this look like Mickey Mouse's Clubhouse to you?

For some reason every time we would pass a rest stop Owen would say, "Is that Mickey Mouse's Clubhouse?" We were cracking up! :rotfl2: I took a picture because THAT will make it into the scrapbook.

We arrived at Windsor Palms about 4:00. The plan was for my sister, my mom and I to head back out to the grocery store to get some supplies for the week. Even though the grocery store was only 5 mintues away, I could not stomach the thought of getting in the car and driving ANYWHERE. Thankfully, my BIL offered to go get stuff for dinner that night and the kids hit the pool in the backyard.

After a quick dinner of salad, spaghetti, bread, and red wine we got unpacked, the kids bathed, and soon crashed ourselves. We had an 8:05 ADR at CP the next morning! :wizard:

Up next, our first day in the MK and our breakfast at CP.... lots of pics!

Great trip report! I just have to tell you that I can totally relate to your situation. We were also planning a trip to Gulf Shores for 6/19 - 6/26. But also decided to change plans. I felt really bad about it, but I knew if we went, the kids would want to be in the ocean and we couldn't risk that. So, we spent the week at WDW instead. As much as we love Disney, we are really hopeful that we can make the trip to Gulf Shores next year!

Amy

I would have never thought of Golden corral as a place for breakfast. I'm glad that you had a good and quick breakfast.

I never want to get back into the car after a long drive either. I think it took us 2 or 3 days to make it to the grocery.
