Did I miss this somewhere, holiday prices May 25-July5, 2008?

Tink-Don't let them rent space in your head.

Hey guys, another thread was started on holiday pricing, and TDC Nala was kind enough to post a link. I C&P'd what I read about Chef Mickeys...here is what I posted, what do you think?

*******************************

Question: I found this on the link that TDC Nala just shared...

The following prices are in effect from 12/16/07 thru 1/5/08
Brunch
$26.99 ages 10 and up
$14.99 ages 3 - 9

Feature Menu

Premium Salad and Fruit Bar, Cereal Selections, Pastry Chef's Creations
Herb Potato Crusted Atlantic Salmon, Oven Roasted Prime Rib, Baked Ham, Chicken Marsala and Creamy Polenta, Haricot Verte Almondine, Breakfast Pizza, French Toast and Waffles with a Variety of Toppings.

*************************************************
This mentions BRUNCH. What about breakfast? Or are these items going to be available in the morning? I have never seen prime rib or chicken at breakfast at Chef Mickey's, so I am wondering if these items will be on the buffet line from 12/16/07-1/5/08. This would certainly justify the price increase. Thanks for any input anyone may have!

7 pages here and I would love to keep this thread open, but....and this is a big but, the moderators of the Restaurant Board will not tolerate arguing and it seems that there is some hostility here between posters...

I ask that if you cannot post politely and respect each other's opinions that you step away from this thread until you can.

This is a warning, I do not want to go in here and start deleting posts and giving points...

Let's keep it nice, we are ALL entitled to our opinions.

barndweller-You have got to be kidding me.

No, I'm not kidding. I said I will get my Disney fix where my dollar gets better value. WDW no longer offers me good experiences for my money. The restaurants were a major part of the appeal for me and they are not anymore. The menus used to be varied. Not so much anymore. The food was high quality. Now it's more just Stouffers microwave junk. The atmosphere was pleasant. Now we are crammed in with inches between tables. The service is rushed & spotty. The restaurants were always overpriced but not obscenely so. I have to decide 6 months in advance where I would like to eat and then wait 30 or 40 minutes more to get seated. It's just not worth the effort anymore. I don't like what the corporate heads are doing to WDW so I will no longer spend my vacation dollars there.

Disneyland is still as charming as it was back in 1957 the first time I went. I can get there without spending hundreds of dollars on airline tickets. There are plenty of reasonable motels within walking distance. It still gives me the feeling of entering a magical place without having to mortgage the farm. WDW is no longer a good value for my vacation dollars.

The Disney Cruises are high priced but I can still count on a high quality experience. The rooms are great, the entertainment is awesome and most of all the food & service is outstanding.

I still love being immersed in Disney pixie dust. WDW no longer sprinkles Pixie dust for me. I don't think the Disney Corporation is some evil demon. Heck, I'm a share holder so I want them to make money! But the branch that makes decisions for WDW has made choices that have ruined the vacation experience for me. Complaining won't accomplish anything. Spending my money somewhere else makes a personal statement. I will no longer spend my vacations there.

WildernessLodgeLover-Thanks for your post!

MackeyMouse-Thanks for reminding people that the posts should be friendly and respectful. I appreciate that.

Oh, and June 28 is not a "holiday" in my book.

While I agree it's not a "holiday" like Christmas or Columbus Day, it is a time of year when a lot (the vast majority, probably) of kids are out of school. Which is when the most people want to come to WDW. I don't think even WDW tries to sell this surcharge as some kind of trade-off for holiday decorations or anything, it's just a blatent money-grab when demand is highest. If demand goes up but supply stays constant, prices are going to go up.

Honestly, I am a bit surprised this policy took 36 years. It has basically been in effect for hotel rooms since the beginning. You want to come when everyone else does, you're going to pay more for a room at the Poly; come during the off-season, rooms are more affordable (or come with a value-add, like free dining). Maybe the trick at the restaurants is to call the higher price "normal" and pretend that the cheaper price is a "discount." ;)

Doing this with restaurants is certainly not unheard of outside WDW. In Daytona Beach, for instance, restaurants routinely jack up their menu prices during Speed Weeks and Bike Week. It's all about supply and demand. And until significant numbers of people start skipping princess breakfasts, it's not likely to change.
