Did I just really screw up??

I have had my airline tickets booked for Feb since the 331 day window opened up months ago. I got a pretty good deal (IMO) and times that I wanted. Since booking, my best friend and her daughter have decided that they will be coming with us. SO... I thought I was doing her a favor and checking flight times & prices to get the best times & price for her too.

Well, I have been checking Expedia, Travelocity, and Orbitz. Just as she was going to book her tickets, the price increased. It has been steady at 332 rt since I started checking. Now it went up to 368+. Has all my checking affected the sites to show more interest in the days that she needs? The week before & week after are still back at the original price.

Can this really happen? If I don't check again, what is the possiblity of it going back down?

I know to some 332 rt is pretty steep, but we are flying from Spokane Wa and the ONE Southwest flight stinks, so no hope of a DING there.

Any advice from you travel guru type people?

No, you didn't screw up and no, your constant checking did NOT affect the price. What affected the price is other passengers actually purchasing the lower-fare tickets before you could. Plus, IME, Orbitz (at least) is notorious for not having the rate you're trying to book available any longer when you actually try to make the purchase.

Thanks, I feel a little better... I think.

I would not feel so bad, except my friend is a single mom and she is having a hard enough time paying for this. If the prices don't lower, then she is not sure that she will be able to go.

Here's hoping for some pixie dust...
