Did I Hear That Right? A Solo Adventure at WDW Updated 8/30

I love that you went solo and loved it! That is awesome! I can imagine how nice it would be to go to wherever you wanted and see all the things on your to see list! Oh, and your dogs are sooo cute! I loved looking at your trip pictures! I have never been to Disney, but am super excited to go for my daughter's wish trip later this year.

I have so much to catch up on on the dis its not even funny!! Lol. I defintely did country bears my first solo trip! Its nice to catch up with tradition! Lol. Nice parade shots! I was all "gotta check these out & see which ppl were out that day" and then remembered we watched the same parade... Derp.

Yay!! Dismeet time, i know what that means!! :)

Just found your trip report today and wanted to chime in. My DS loves Pluto so I showed him the pictures of your room. He thought it looked great.

I am really enjoying following along with all your aventures, expecially seeing pics form the new Fantasyland as we have yet to experience that.

I am a little sad to have got to the end (so far) and hope there will be more soon :goodvibes

That's what I love about the DIS, people appreciate my Pluto room rather than thinking that I'm nuts. :rotfl:

Glad you've enjoyed the report so far.

It was very fun doing a solo trip and very nice to do what I wanted!

Thanks about the dogs, I think they are cute too! :rotfl:

You will have a wonderfull time on your trip. When are you headed there?

I enjoyed catching the Country Bears as I don't think I'll see it on my next two trips.

Too funny that you forgot that we were watching the same parade! Dismeet coming up now!

It was time to hit the one area of the park that I had missed so far, Tomorrowland. But first, I wanted to try a Le Fou’s Brew. Do you know how hard it is to say that out loud when trying to order? The CM that waited on my must have heard a lot of interesting pronunciations, because when I stumbled over it she just grinned and went and got my drink. I decided not to get one of the souvenir cups because I didn't want to carry it around the rest of the day.

So I headed to Tomorrowland sipping my drink. I did like the Le Fou’s Brew, it had a nice applely (yes I just made up a word) taste. It did end up getting a bit too sweet for me plus a frozen drink on a chilly day was not the best choice. I ended up drinking only about two thirds of it before I threw it out because it was making me shiver.

It was about this time that an announcement came on saying that the park would be open till 10 pm instead of the originally scheduled time of 9 pm. Sweet, maybe I could get one ride in after my 7:30 dinner reservations.

Tomorrowland was packed! I didn't write down wait times but I remember that every ride had a huge line. I looked at the FP situation but none of the times would work with my dinner reservations. Since I had a DIS meet to get too, I decided to save that area for the next night. Instead I headed out to Main Street to do some all important shopping!

First though, I stopped for some PP pictures since I hadn’t done any yet this day. You can tell how windy it was by my hair. And I also have no idea what I was doing with my hands in these.

I started at the Casey’s end of the Emporium and shopped my way down one side of Main Street then back up the other. I was on a mission to find a Villain’s Hoodie for my cousin. She wanted it to give to her Mom (my aunt) who loves the villains. I found this one in the Emporium and sent her a picture.

I knew she wouldn’t like it, it was way too busy for my aunt and I was right. She texted me back and said thanks but no thanks. I told her I would keep looking. I also saw a few things in the glass shop that I wanted but decided to get them on the way out.

I headed back towards the Hub were I was having the DIS meet. I stopped for a second set of PP pictures.

I said hello to Pluto.

And then watched the end of Dream Along With Mickey. This is another show that I’ve never seen from start to finish. The Maleficent shots were for my Villain loving aunt.

And then I met up with Katt (katt789) and her friend Paige to watch the Move It Shake It Party. I don’t know if Paige has a DIS name? Katt and I had actually been at Disney at the same time in November but never ran into each other. This time we were determined to meet!

Katt and Paige went out and danced with the characters but thanks to my hip hurting I stayed on the sidelines and watched.

And of course afterward we made sure to take a picture so we could prove we met!

I have no idea how she was staying warm in that cute little skirt outfit! You can see I was all bundled up and still a little on the chilly side.

We chatted for a while then Katt and Paige headed off to meet some fairies and I headed back to Tomorrowland to see if I could accomplish anything before dinner. Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor had a 20 minute wait so I decided to go there. Mom wouldn’t see this show in November because she was afraid she would get picked. I’m not too fond of being singled out but heck, this is Disney so why not go for it?

While I didn’t get picked for a part, I did end up on the big screen at the beginning with the caption “Loves all this attention”. Boy was that the farthest from the truth! But I still got a good chuckle from it. The show was good as always although nothing really stood out as memorable.

I have in my notes next that I took a very chilly ride on the TTA. I have no pictures from this ride, probably because it was getting dark and my camera doesn’t do well at night.

After getting off the TTA, I noticed a dance party going on and Pluto was out! Of course I headed over to watch a bit.

I sent a text to my cousin and said “Only at Disney can you do the Cuban Shuffle with Pluto”. She thought that was pretty funny. I watched till it was time to head to a very special dinner reservation.

Great pictures of Maleficent! :maleficen

I had originally thought I wanted to try the Lefou's Brew...but after reading several "so-so" reviews, I may have to pass. Just not a big fan of apple juice, so I probably wouldn't like it. :confused3

A Dismeet on Main Street...how perfect is that? :cloud9: SOOOOO sad I will mess you by ONE DAY in October! That is just WRONG! :headache:

hmmm funny Connie has a direct link to my brain!!! I was gonna say the same exact thing about lefou's ,so now I'm speechless lol

Just got SUPER excited to read this because I know I’m in this update! Lawl!

Glad you got a brew, I love those things! They’re super tasty, although sometimes the balance of blended beverage to syrup isn’t too great and it can be not to flavourful or super sweet, it’s odd.

I would tisk tisk you for never seeing Dream Along start to finish but I know my first couple trips I only caught bits of it when I was in the hub, it’s just since wanting to be in it that I’ve made the time to watch it!

Thatsa me!! Haha, last time I checked Paige was still trying to figure out the disboards, I know she was asking me about stuff, Im thinking she’ll end up writing a TR for her Aug trip if she figures it out haha.

Ahahaha, first off, I WAS FREEEEEZING. Secondly, I had some pretty thick dance tights on under the skirt, and bike shorts, and a tiny sweater…and I’m from Canada….BAHA. If there’s no snow on the ground, it’s shorts weather! Lawl. PS. I’m totally stealing the pic of our meet for my TR when I finally get there! Lawl.

Glad you finally got some dance party time with Pluto! I do love the dance parties Disney is doing now!! Eeek! BOG! Yay!

We don't have official dates yet because my daughter hasn't made her official wish yet, but we are hoping for sometime in September and if not then sometime in Oct or Nov

I did like the Lefou's Brew but it did taste an awful lot like apple juice so you may not like it. I think I want to try it one more time when it is hot out. As cold as it was that afternoon, the drink was doing nothing for me so that's the main reason I threw some of it out. I fell madly in love with Butterbeer when we visited US last year so this was a bit of a disappointment to me.

It was a great place for a DIS meet (or just about anything really). I know, I'm sad about missing you guys.

Great update! :)

Thanks!

hmmm funny Connie has a direct link to my brain!!! I was gonna say the same exact thing about lefou's ,so now I'm speechless lol

I guess great minds think alike! I gave some more info about LeFou's Brew under my respose to Connie.

Just got SUPER excited to read this because I know I’m in this update! Lawl!

Glad you got a brew, I love those things! They’re super tasty, although sometimes the balance of blended beverage to syrup isn’t too great and it can be not to flavourful or super sweet, it’s odd.

It was tasty, just too cold for that day!

I would tisk tisk you for never seeing Dream Along start to finish but I know my first couple trips I only caught bits of it when I was in the hub, it’s just since wanting to be in it that I’ve made the time to watch it!

Someday I will catch it in full. I always have something new to do each trip. I was going to watch it this time but my desire to shop won out.

Thatsa me!! Haha, last time I checked Paige was still trying to figure out the disboards, I know she was asking me about stuff, Im thinking she’ll end up writing a TR for her Aug trip if she figures it out haha.

I will definitely join in if she decides to write one! Paige if you are reading along, hi!

Ahahaha, first off, I WAS FREEEEEZING. Secondly, I had some pretty thick dance tights on under the skirt, and bike shorts, and a tiny sweater…and I’m from Canada….BAHA. I forget you are from Canada so it probably didn't feel that cold to you! My thin Georgia blood was not happy with the weather that week! You are very welcome to steal the picture for your TR.

Glad you finally got some dance party time with Pluto! I do love the dance parties Disney is doing now!! Eeek! BOG! Yay!

I had so much fun watching that dance party. Maybe in October when I'm not hurting anymore I'll even join in a little!

We don't have official dates yet because my daughter hasn't made her official wish yet, but we are hoping for sometime in September and if not then sometime in Oct or Nov

Oh Ok, I was just curious to see if you will be there at the same time as my next trip which is mid October.

When I first planned this trip it was very last minute and I had to take mostly leftover ADRs. My original plan for this night was an early dinner at The Plaza with MSEP and Wishes after. A few weeks before my trip I just decided to see what was out there for ADRs. I wasn’t checking every day as I was pretty happy with what I had. No idea why I checked on that day but there was a Be Our Guest reservation just sitting there!! Of course I grabbed it and moved the Plaza ADR to the next night.

I was soooooo excited for this ADR I practically ran to the restaurant. I checked in right at the 15 minutes prior mark and was given my pager and asked to wait on the bridge.

Such a pretty pager.

I played around with my camera trying to get a good picture of the Beast’s castle but this was the best I could do because my pager went off almost immediately.

I was in absolute awe as I stepped into the castle. I took lots of pictures this night but there is no way you could capture the beauty of this place with pictures. I felt like I had just stepped into the movie, there’s no other way to describe the restaurant.

As we headed into the Ballroom, the CM escorting me (I loved how they made a big deal about welcoming you to the dinner) the Beast himself came towards us. We had to wait a minute for him to pass. That was the quickest I think I’ve ever gotten my camera out of my bag!

I was seated in the Ballroom and the first thing I noticed was the beautiful rose that was made from my napkin. I really didn’t want to unroll it!

I took a few pictures from my seat. I’m sorry but all my pictures from the restaurant are really bad, the lighting in there is very low and my camera did not do well at all.

My waitress was very nice and since I obsess over my meals before I go I knew exactly what I wanted. I also ordered a glass of Riesling because there was no way I wasn’t having an alcoholic drink at the MK!

I was shocked when my food came out in only a few minutes. My waitress was really shocked too as she hadn’t even gotten my rolls and wine to me yet. I ended up getting my meal before the actual time of my ADR! I really wonder if someone had changed their mind on their entrée since I got it so fast. So I guess you want to see some food pictures?

First off, the rolls:

They were pretty plain but I loved them because I don’t like fancy bread any way. For my entrée, I got the Rotisserie Cornish Hen with fingerling potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

This was delicious. I spent quite a bit of time on the Hen making sure I got every little piece of meat. And the potatoes were good, they had a great flavor. As for the other vegetables, well I tasted them but I am not a fan of most veggies so I didn’t finish them. I’m sure that most normal eaters would have loved them.

As I mentioned before, I also got a glass of wine. Check out the cute candle holder right next to the wine. I want about a dozen of those for my house please.

Then there was dessert. They have dessert carts that they wheel right up to your table.

My waitress started to describe each one but since she started with the chocolate cupcake I just said stop, that’s what I want. She asked if I was sure and I said absolutely one million percent. So here it is. This thing was so epic I had to take two pictures.

And it lived up to all my expectations. This thing was so good I’ve dreamt about it since being there! This dessert is now equal in my book to the Bailey’s Chocolate Mousse that they serve at Coral Reef. Even if I had hated the rest of my meal (which I certainly did not) I would still go back just for this cupcake.

So enough of my love fest for the cupcake and on with the meal. While I was eating my entrée, I saw Katt and Paige being led in. They had reservations 15 minutes after me. Katt saw me and came over for a minute to see what I ordered. When I was done I stopped to say hi and see what they ordered. I honestly don’t remember at this point but it looked good whatever it was! You’ll have to check out her TR to find out.

They encourage you to walk around and check out the place when you are done so I did just that. I visited the West Wing and also more of the Ballroom.

And then I went to visit the Beast. He was meeting in the room where people do the ordering for the CS lunch. Here’s one of the order stations.

Light fixture in that room.

And then it was my turn to meet the Beast.

I’m not the best at meet and greets with Characters, I usually feel very awkward. I had been thinking all day what I could say to him. So I just thanked him for the wonderful meal. This made the people waiting behind me and the CMs laugh. Oh well, I tried. The pictures from this greet turned out to be some of my favorites from the trip. You could probably guess that since I used one of them in my intro.

Continued from Previous Post

After my greet with the Beast, I headed into the Suits of Armor room (not sure if that’s what the room is actually called but I’m going with it). This is where you can hear the Suits talking to each other. It was really interesting so I spent a few minutes. Some of them even fell asleep and started snoring.

Then I headed out to the lobby and checked out everything there. I had barely had a chance to look at it on the way in.

So in conclusion, I highly recommend this restaurant! The themeing is spectacular and the food was very good. Pictures cannot come close to showing how wonderful it was in there. Disney really outdid themselves with Be Our Guest.

When I finally left BOG, I realized that it was only 8:30 pm. I still had an hour and a half of park time! Since I was close to the Haunted Mansion I decided to check there to see how the wait time was. It was only 5 minutes, much better than the 45 minutes earlier in the day. As I headed into line, I got my first red card of the trip.

I seem to attract those things like magnets.

There was actually zero wait, I walked straight into the stretching room. There were only about 20 of us so the CM put us right in the middle of the room and spent the whole time circling us. He also knew the whole ghost host spiel and said it along with him. The CM was so creepy, he really set the mood for the entire ride. I remember being terrified of HM when I was a kid but I love it so much now. I was glad I finally got to ride it that day.

Since HM had no wait I decided to try my luck at Winnie The Pooh. Nope, still a 45 minute wait. I’m not sure what was going on with that ride this trip. So I headed back to Tomorrowland which turned out to be completely deserted! I headed towards Buzz Light Year and walked right on.

There’s my sniper face!

I did horrible, I think I only got like 70,000 so I circled around and tried again. Ah, that’s a little better.

I finally figured out how to photograph my score on the ride. We stopped for a minute right after my gun was disabled or I may have done better.

Since I felt better about my second score, I headed over to ride Space Mountain.

It was a walk on also.

When I got off of SM it was about 9:30 so I had ½ hour till the park closed. That was when I got a very crazy idea. I decided to see how many times I could ride SM before the park closed. So I hopped back in line again.

Ride #2:

I pretty much ran back around and got on a third time. It was 9:50 when I got off the third time so I didn’t stop to get a picture of the ride photo this time. I ran back around and just made it into line a fourth time before they cut it off.

Ride #4

After that, everything was closed for the night so I headed towards Main Street. I posted on Facebook “Just rode Space Mountain 4 times in a row. Kind of feel like puking but it was fun”. I did feel slightly nauseous, I was learning that the Bonine motion sickness pills had a bit of a limit. Probably was good that I didn’t make it on to the ride a fifth time! It was an absolute blast to do although I’m not quite sure it was the best idea with my hip hurting!

I stopped by the castle to get some night PP pictures. You can sure tell my hair just went through 4 SM rides!

And then I headed into the glass shop to pick up the two items I had seen earlier. First I got this cute little Pluto.

He is teeny tiny and was only $10. I don’t think I’ll ever find something that cheap in that shop again.

The second item was a pair of Mickey earrings.

I love these earrings and wear them all the time. They are especially nice to wear to the Animal Shelter I volunteer at. I don’t like wearing dangly earrings there since I mostly work with the cats.

There was no one at the bus stop and I was on a bus and back in my room by 11:00 pm. I was tired and headed straight to bed for the night.

I only have two quotes for this day. I think I was so involved in enjoying MK that I wasn’t as attentive to the conversations around me. Don’t worry though, I have five for the next day!

1. “Yes I was supposed to park the stroller but you were supposed to get the Baby out!” Mom screaming at Dad after they left their baby behind in the stroller for 10 minutes after getting in line for ETWB.

2. Lady #1 – “What is this?
Lady #2 – “I don’t know, the map says a show, lets’ go!”
Conversation between two women who were running and pushing people out of the way to make sure they got a good seat for the Tiki Room. Unfortunately I lost track of where they went inside because I would have loved to see their reaction to the show.

Up Next: I become a Disney Tour Guide

I am falling behind everywhere again (this wedding is really taking a lot of time now).

Love that you had a DIS meet...I just love when that happens.

I am so happy that you fell in love with Be Our Guest too. Mark had the cornish hen as well and raved about it for days after our trip. I couldn't do the wine or beer thing...I just can't drink in the Magic Kingdom...but glad you enjoyed it.

You are so right...Disney went above and beyond with Be Our Guest. I hope to take a lto more pictures in June and August when we go.

Space Mountain four times in a row???? :scared1::scared1::scared1:
I can barely handle once in a row when the girls beg me to take them. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Im pretty sure that a group of four must have cancelled their BOG adr and between the two of us we filled it up! It was good luck for both of us!

I’M SO GOING TO CRY!

Just a heads up, don’t think I can see pictures without my feelings exploding haha.

Yup… the moment I scrolled to that first chandelier picture I had to stop everything I was doing Lawl.

I should have gone with the Riesling, the zinfandel was too dry for me oddly enough…I felt the same about dinner there, there was no way I wasn’t drinking there! The potatoes and asparagus looks delicious!! Aw man, those cupcakes are some of the best I’ve ever had! I feel like the chocolate one might be a bit too much, but still yummy!

Paige got the hen, and I got the pork chop! The mac and cheese on the side of the pork was seriously worth it just to get the pork, I got it again last week (it was a little drier, but still good) and actually talked Princess Jess into it because of the mac and cheese! YUM.

Great shots with the Beast! We didn’t manage to get to see him that night, and I skipped it last week. Mark actually gets to hang out with him at BOG a lot, so we got the inside scoop on some stuff to hahahaah.

I’m dying, I can’t look at pictures of BOG without dying, as I said, but seriously, Disney did great, it’s so incredible in there!

Awesome Space rides!! I can only do it so many times before I get to dizzy and have to stop haha.

I guess because I'm francophone ("Le Fou" is french for "the crazy(guy)") I never realized anglophones might have difficulty pronouncing the name. :rotfl:

Yay! That's so fun that you and Katt met! :cool1:

You are right, no pictures can do justice as to how wonderful Be Our Guest is inside!

Wow, 4 times in a row on Space Mountain?! I like that roller coaster, but can't handle it more than once at a time.

Those earrings are so pretty!

BOG looks so beautiful. Cannot wait to see it in person!! :thumbsup2 SM 4x in a row? Impressive! I think I would probably suffer whiplash if I went that many times. :rotfl2:

I find it unbelievable that people leave babies in strollers there! Yours is the SECOND story I have read this week on here about folks leaving kids in strollers! :headache:

I know what you mean about being behind! I have a conference next week so no updates. So you'll get a break from me a least.

The DIS meet was a lot of fun!

I so loved BOG! Did you see that they removed the Cornish Hen from the menu? I was so sad when I read that last night. DH thought I was overreacting, he just doesn't understand Disney food and what it means to us Disney freaks!

The SM thing was fun athough I don't think I'd do it again!

I'm not a huge cryer but those BOG pictures get me every time! I can't wait to be back there in October.

Yes all the food was wonderful but I was really sad last night when I read they took the Cornish Hen off the menu. The chicken dish they replaced it with better be just as good! I'd love to try the pork but that's one of the foods that I can't eat. I love it but it doesn't love me back! :rotfl:

Ah, bummer you missed the Beast, that was a fun great. He is just so big!

I didn't get dizzy on SM, just a little nauseous!

It's funny because I can say "Le Fou" and "brew" separately but when I try to put them together, my tongue gets all twisted!

It was wonderful meeting Katt! I have no one around me other than Mom and my one cousin that really understands my passion for Disney. So I really appreciate my DIS friends.

BOG looks so beautiful. Cannot wait to see it in person!! :thumbsup2 SM 4x in a row? Impressive! I think I would probably suffer whiplash if I went that many times. :rotfl2:

It was beautiful! I do think my brain was a little scrambled after the 4th ride! :lmao:

I know the baby thing was crazy. I don't have kids myself but couldn't imagine doing that if I did!

You could probably read the beginning of the previous day because I was up at 6:00 am, out the door by 7:30, had a bagel and banana for breakfast, worked on my journal and was in line for a bus at 8:15 am. Yep, same as the previous day and every day after this one.

So where was I headed on this fine Saturday?

Yep, Animal Kingdom. First thing I noticed heading out of my room is that it was COLD. The temperature was chilly plus there was a cold wind that blew all day. I don’t think in made it past 45 degrees any time during that day.

When I was planning my trip, I decided to only do 2/3 of a day at AK. Mom and I had spent 1 ½ days at AK in November and had explored it pretty thoroughly. I felt that I didn’t need a full day to do the things I wanted to do. I still had a lot I wanted to accomplish so I made sure to get to AK early. This was the first time I have done rope drop at AK. It was an interesting experience, they let you into the park and through the Oasis but stop you right in front of the Tree of Life.

When I made it to the rope area, I inched my way through the crowds and as close as I could get to the right side as I was planning on heading towards EE first. Here’s where I ended up.

The CM actually led us to EE.

I guess they do that to avoid people running. As I was getting in line, the Mom from the family in front of me struck up a conversation with me and I was once again adopted. They were a family of three and the Mom said that she and her son were going to request the front seat and I could ride in the second seat with the Dad. That was fine with me! We chatted through the line, they were frequent Disney visitors and very nice, and were up to the front before I knew it. I had no idea that you could ask for the front seat and I don’t think many other people do because no one was waiting in the separate front seat line. It’s right next to the single rider line if you were wondering.

Here’s our ride photo. The Dad was actually a bit scared, I think he put up his hands because he didn’t want to look like a wimp next to me!

I love this coaster but boy was it a cold ride!

After we finished, I said goodbye to my new friends and headed towards the Safari. I debated for a few minutes about getting in line again for EE but it was already getting long so I got a FP instead. I took random pictures along the way.

The poor monkeys were all huddled up trying to stay warm.

As you can see, there were no crowds on the path from Asia to Africa.

There was a PP photographer who looked bored so I stopped and gave him some business.

Finally I reached Africa and ran into a small crowd.

The wait for the Safari said 20 minutes but I knew it moved fast so I got in line. As I stood there, I heard two ladies behind me trying to figure out the FP system. I couldn’t help myself so I turned around and pulled my EE FP out of my pocket and proceeded to explain FPs to them. They were Disney rookies and were so grateful for my help. They along with their husbands immediately started asking me questions. First they wanted to know about the Wild Africa Trek. Since I had done it in November, I was able to give them lots of information. Then they pulled out their park map and asked me to describe each attraction to them. They even took notes as I talked. I ended up giving them my times guide since they didn't know to pick one up with their map. Finally we discussed dining. They had not made any ADRs and were planning on eating at Boma that night. I helped them get a reservation for that evening using the phone APP and told them to stop at Guest Relations to make ADRs for the rest of their stay. I also explained that Boma was at the AKL and how to get there since they were under the assumption that the restaurant was in the park. I think they would have started on the other parks but we had reached the front of the line and I got split up from them. I have no idea how long I actually waited for the Safari, I was so engrossed in conversation with that family. I decided that being a Disney Tour Guide would not be a bad life.

So on with the Safari.

There were so many animals out that I think I only got pictures of half of what I saw. I was definitely true this morning about the animals being more active when it was cold.

There’s a large bird in this picture but he’s hard to spot.

Our guide made a big deal of this next animal. He said it is one of the rarest animals you will see on the Safari.

Yep, it was a human! That got a good chuckle from our group.

Man, I took a lot of animal pictures! No matter how many times I go on that Safari, I can’t help myself. I think I deleted twice as many as I’m posting for you!

The only animal we didn’t see a lot of was the Giraffes. There were only a few and they were near the gate where they go in for the night. I’m guessing they had just been left onto the Savanna area for the day. Doesn’t mean that I didn’t get pictures of the few that were there! Giraffes are just so photogenic.

Continuing with the Elephants and a few other animals thrown in.

The obligatory Elephant butt shot!

Despite the cold, the Cheetahs and Lions were still being lazy.

And that concludes the Safari. Oh, there were some Zebras out but I totally missed the photo opportunity there.

After I finished my Safari I thought about waiting for my friends as they were on a truck behind me. But I didn’t want to be stuck with them all day since I was on a tight schedule plus it was time for my EE FP. So I headed back towards Asia.
