Hi, I usually lurk in the freebie thread. Well we haven't been to WDW in about 4 years ! We were big fans & had gone multiple times before but since we had DS the budget was tight. So this free dining comes out & I can make it happen :goodvibes So we're staying 6 nights at the POP 9/7 - 9/13. 2 adults one child, free dining, park hopper tickets for $1492 with trip insurance. I think it sounds great ? Is this a good idea to get the trip insurance ? Also I'm really nervous about the free dining since our DS is 5 so I was thinking mostly character meals. I'm just freaking out because I haven't planned a trip in sooo long & I really didn't think it was in the cards for us  Any advice on anything & everything to think about to plan for this trip ? I'm really rusty...:scared1:

First thing: Make those ADRs NOW!

Seriously. You can't be spontaneous about TS during free dining. At least you couldn't in 2006. I'm guessing that hasn't changed.

Check out the park hours and quickly plan a basic itinerary (which park(s), which days), then make those ADRs around your park days.

You can take your time to plan everything else. *LOL*

You'll have a terrific time and experience some new dining venues! :thumbsup2

I remember getting a phone call about it from Disney that year. I too can't imagine it's changed any.

Make sure you get the insurance & if the airlines has trip insurance buy that as well. I do believe now Disney insurance covers air brought on your own but not sure as I book my own. Last year my air flight was cancel for some strange reason. And they did rebook us at no extra charge but Disney had to rebook us at a different time. Our air insurance covered it. And with all the problems the airlines are having can't hurt to play it safe:goodvibes

Make ADR's as soon as possible ;)

I think it is a good deal and a smart idea to get the insurance because of the peak hurricane season. I too would get on those ADR's. You will love the character dinners and your son will too!:cool1: I suggest Chef Mickey's for dinner and Crystal Palace for breakfast. There are others that are great but the character interaction at these are really good. Have fun!!

The airlines any more are so iffy too.
This week Frontier filed Chapter 13, not to mention the hundreds of cancelled flights across the U.S. for maintenance issues.

:confused3 We're driving so I'm not worried about airlin cancellations. The insurance is $133 & my DH wants me to take it off ?? Also are the character meals at the parks other than Cinderella's 1 TS or 2 ? I used DIS as the travel agent. Any experience with them ? Do the make the ADR's for me ? Thanks !!:dance3:

The insurance is in case something happens and my experience is that if you can afford to lose your cost without getting sick over it, don't pay for it. BUT if losing 1400. (your trip cost) would really make a dent if you had to cancel, I''d say go for it. You just never know. I take insurance for all trips, have had to use it and it was a blessing, saved us thousands!

I think the other ones as far as TS are 1, I know crystal palace with pooh, etc is one, you can look at disney.com, go to dining and they have an entire section on it.
You should make your ADR's AS SOON AS POSSIBLE> Especially for character meals, if you have your heart set on it and want to eat at certain times. I have found that earlier dinner usually has more options, (5-5:30ish) which works really well for us.
Have a wonderful trip.

Yes I believe they will make them for you...but you need to tell them what you want and when(give options of a 2nd choice).

Re: you insurance. Price out insuremytrip.com and see what a private 3rd party would be. IMO going during hurricance season is enough reason to get the insurance...but I guess if you are driving and no one has any medical issues then you could chance it(I know I have done about 6 trips wo insurance-but my FD trips I do get it)...but I am willing to bite the bullet if there is a problem. ITA with having it now if you are flying.
