Hi everyone, I just became a new member of the Disney Vacation Club by buying 240 points at Bay Lake Towers. The deal we got was:

240 points at $99/point (after incentives)
240 points available right now with another 240 coming at the beginning of our use year in Feb 2010 (so essentially 240 free points)

It wasn't until after we made the purchase that we found out about a 3-day cruise incentive, even though it was just for people who added on or were referred. I called my guide and tried to angle my way into getting that deal as well, but he said "no cigar" because we had already received incentives on the points. Hey, it doesn't hurt to try, right?

Anyway, I have no basis with which to judge if I got a good deal or not and would like to hear from you guys. Thanks in advance.

Congratulations, and Welcome Home!

DVC's incentives are pretty standard at any given time. You may have gotten a better or worse deal than others that bought months ago, or who will buy months in the future, but you probably got the same exact deal as others who bought recently.

Also, welcome to the DIS!

You got "the" deal it looks like - neither good or bad, just what it currently is. This is the current published offer from DVC for BLT:

Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Villas****
$112 base price less $5.00 promotional discount; 160+ points

Special Offer 1: Save an additional $6 per point on 160-199 points and $8 per point on 200+ points; referral from existing DVC member is required

Special Offer 2: Complimentary Disney Cruise Line voyage; cruise duration varies depending upon the number of points purchased; referral from existing DVC member is required

You got Special Offer 1 - $13 off per point.

As for getting the current year's points, that is the normal DVC practice when buying direct. I bought in March 08 (not at BLT) with an August use year and got the previous year's points, the coming year's points obviously, and 100 developer points.

When buying direct from DVC, most/all people get the same offer as far as I've ever seen.

We bought 320 points at BLT last month through the Webcast special and paid $92 per point after incentive and they split the closing costs ($244 total for closing) We got 320 points this year and another 320 next Feb. We have been looking into buying DVC for a few years and when the Web special came out it was too good to pass up because we never seen the price per point that low except for resale. You are a DVC owner now so, Yes you got a wonderful deal. Just think of all the vacations you get to have!

Sounds like a good deal. You did want a February UY, right?
You can't get a cruise and the same discount, but you can get a cruise and a different discount.
