Did/do you have a TV in your room when growing up? Inspired by I banned TV last night

My parents had total control of the TV. Nowadays it seems like kids can watch anything.:D
The only time I could choose what I wanted to watch was when I was eating my tea, usually between 4 - 6pm.

When I was 16 I got a TV for my room--and never came out-between that and the phone I was holed up in there constantly. LOL
DH and I have decided no TV in the kids rooms while they're growing up(18 and over is fine)..no computer either!
Phones are fine, because everyone has cordless now anyway so it doesn't matter.

Mom says I'm lucky to even have a phone in my room. But honestly I've never wanted a TV in my room. I watch very little TV and there's nothing I watch that I have to hide from anyone else (sis is into MTV and all that garbage, so she only watches that when mom and stepdad aren't home but I could care less). If there's something on TV that I want to watch, chances are someone in the family wants to watch the same thing. And it's not as though we're TV deprived-there are 3 on the main floor of the house (in the sunroom, living room, mom's room) and another tiny one in the basement up in the corner for when we're playing foozeball. I've never had a TV in my room and that's ok. My stepsis had one for about 7 years before our parents got married, and she was only 8 or so when they did marry...

I never had a tv in my room growing up. I think we only had one tv in the whole house. My kids don't have one in their rooms either. DH and I have one in our bedroom and there's one in the living room.

I had one of those big clunky cabinet style 1960s b&w tv. My mom let me have it cause she knew I was a TV freak. But I really didn't watch it - I like having the tv on and just using it as background noise.

I'm still like that even now. The tv at home is usually on all the time. A lot of times I don't even watch it, I'll be reading or doing computer work. I just like having that chatter in the background.

Yeah... I'm weird... I know it!:rolleyes1
