Did Disney World just increase capacity?

That could be a factor in opening fantasmic, or other outside shows.
I feel like I’d be okay with 3ft distance in seating circumstances, because it’s easier for them to block the space between ie. Block seats etc. But not so much with reducing space markers in lines. I think many people would be totally oblivious to 3ft markers and just end up all in your space. Especially larger families/groups.

I had checked earlier this morning, and everything was still blocked out. Just checked again and it's all green. I am so relieved because I hadn't been able to get HS pass for our June 1 trip. Now we are going to all four parks for my kids' first trip!

Something just popped into my mind-

RoL in AK was confirmed cancelled.
FoLK was confirmed as coming back in the nearish future with some changes.
Work to maintain RoL’s seating has been seen.

Nooooo... 🤷‍♀️ Could they put FoLK out in the water?

My mind is going heavy on the shows because that definitely helps eat up people away from ride lines.

It's also important to know that the 3 foot rule is only if everybody is masked. When you're eating, you obviously have to take off your mask, so I don't think the 3 foot recommendation applies to restaurants.

I’m happy that I was now able to book HS for our June trip but I’m worried about what it means if capacity is increasing....

Festival of the Lion King 🙂

(Must have been typing while @BGinCali posted - sorry for DP)

Ahhh duh! Thanks! ;)

No reservations for the pool - but there could be a wait list if it’s busy.

It's too bad you can't join the wait list remotely- like if you're at the parks and know you'll take a break. I hope they work out a better system for managing this when we go!

No that is when the Silver Passport Blackout starts on June 1. So that blocks out lots and lots of potential guests for the entire month of June.

Dave

I look at the Theme Park Tickets calendar. Pretty sure that was showing Some Parks closed for most of June. Now pretty wide open for availability. Wouldn’t the Silver Passholders blackout have been factored in Already? Surely, those dates were set a while ago.

After waiting on hold for three hours to reserve a polar patio 😬, I was chatting with a CM about the sudden opening for park reservations. His theory was he doubts they increased capacity and instead shifted AP availability to resort guests. And actually that makes total sense of you think about it. More resorts are opening, and I think in general more people are becoming comfortable with travel. But no one is going to come stay at the resorts if there are no park see around available. Disney wants the money... so they’re going to give the park reservations to people who are going to stay at their resorts.
I REALLY hope this is the case. Terrified of larger crowds and wait times if they aren't going to open up entertainment or additional food establishments.

Some days are already filling up again in June, so I really hope it wasn’t a capacity increase.

CDC revised its guidance to say 3 feet distancing is sufficient, down from 6 feet. Won't be surprised to see them compress/shrink the distancing as a result

That was school children, who are by themselves. Most people in lines are not by themselves so if they moved the markers, it would be very little distance.

Plus add all the other factors that make schools much more effective.

But the physical distancing is definitely one of the biggest roadbumps to Disney's profit with the parks and I wouldn't be surprised to see it go before other restrictions just because of that. 🤷‍♀️ Being vaccinated, I'm fine either way but I won't lie... I really appreciate the breathing room compared to pre-pandemic haha.

They absolutely better not raise capacity without bringing back more shows, opening the rest of dining, etc. though.

That makes me think it wasn't and only a limited number per day that was originally allocated to AP were released.

I'd be nervous if they DIDN'T go fast- would that would mean they added a lot of them, which would point more to a true capacity increase.

I seriously believe that they shifted the AP allotments for tickets over to the Disney reservation allotment. And...while it sucks for AP, if they can make more money that way, why wouldn't they?

If they increase capacity, I would hope they increase restaurant openings, things to do. Etc.
