Did anyone watch Rock Star: INXS last night?

I wouldn't be surprised they keep JD up until the final 2, just exactly for the drama. It *is* a tv show and they want some drama/interest to keep it going.

I'm not in total diasgreement with Ty's comment about race. I suspect the majority of the voters are teen-aged girls, hence they'll vote against the girls and most likely Ty. That's just my opinion.

Me ... I'm a MiG girl ... I've gotten more goosebumps off of his performances than anyone else. He's got that "it" thing going -- Michael Hutchence had the "it" thing, too ... I think Marty's too dark.

I've said it before, being a long-time INXS fan, if JD is their choice, I'm done with listening to anything new from them.

I think Ty might also be gay, so his comments might not have just been about the color of his skin.

I started out a huge Mig fan but I think Marty's going to be stiff competition. I've always liked Marty but up until his bottom 3 performance I didn't think he'd fit with INXS but he proved me wrong. Plus I think Marty would help give INXS a new edge, something they're going to need to make it in todays market, sounding the same as they did years ago might not do that.

I still like Mig but I think Marty's there man.

I've been wondering that too.

I would love to know what the median age of the viewers of this show are......I don't think it is teenage girls though. I think it is more of us that grew up during the hey day of INXS.
I never liked Ty, not because of his color but because of his theatrics, he just always looked like he was acting, and then when he started doing that thing with his tongue all the time I wanted to puke, that went out with KISS for petes sake. He just was not right for INXS not his color but his style.
And the thing about JD I remember him saying some not so nice things about the group right on stage on live tv so where does he get off getting on Suzie about a comment she made, it was nothing that was not the truth............like he has ANYBODYS back covered except his own. I still say that INXS will choose a lead that they can get along with without any Drama, and I still believe it will be MiG or Marty both stand up guys. Suzie and Jordis will go far and perhaps it will be for the better to end up somewhere else, they have all gotten alot of exposure out of this competition and I am sure there will be people knocking on their doors.
Suzie really surprised me with Bohemian Rhapsody, I never have cared for the song but she did a great job with it.

I couldn't agree more Chyam! There is no way this show is geared at teenage girls. Teenagers don't know who INXS is. My younger brother (much younger, 17 years) is 15 and he called to tell me that there was an INXS thing in VH1 this weekend and he pronounced it "ink-sess". It was pretty funny! The only people who care about this show are those of us who grew up listening to INXS and drooling over Michael Hutchence!!! :cloud9:

And about Ty, I also thought he is gay. And the whole over the top theatre performances he had been giving always made me feel like I was watching a Braodway musical. I love Broadway and I love Ty but he is much better suited for things other than Our Band, INXS!

Ty could be GAY!?????!!!!!!! I am always the last to find out these things. (I didn't know Ellen or Rosie were gay before they came out, either) :teeth:

I love Ty. I think he is an excellent, talented, awesome singer and can really put on a show. I never thought he could be the lead singer of INXS. He is too good for them (IMO), he needs to be a solo artist. Is he not right for INXS b/c he is black? I don't know, does being black make him who he is and what kind of performer he is? Is that bad? I hate when I discriminate and I'm not even aware of it! :rotfl: Would he rather have been picked, not based on a good fit with the band and talent, but just b/c he WAS black? If he was exactly the same as he is but with white skin instead (think MJ), I would feel the same about him. But, now that he played the black/gay card, he is just a whiny loser (of the contest).

I think Mig is a great fit with the band.

I'm a 25-year-old guy and, like I've said before, I don't really know INXS. Originally, when this show first started, I wasn't interested. There were too many bad singers in the competition. However, four weeks or so ago, I started watching again and was fascinated with how genuinely good everyone was that was still left. It got me hooked. It got my two younger brothers hooked. We're all fans of 60s/70s rock and these competitors can really sing it well.

However, I think, if anything, INXS is a detriment to the show. You're right in saying that people my age and younger have no recollection of INXS. I mean, I knew who they were, but I couldn't have named you one INXS song. INXS was probably a road-block to viewers ("I don't know INXS, so why should I care?") However, as the show as progressed, the talent has risen to the top. I'll be very interested in the new INXS cd because of this show. However, I think I'm one of the very few young folks that will be interested.

That being said, I read on tvguide.com that Tuesday's show was the highest rated yet (however, it still didn't win its time slot). If they bring the show back, how do they fix it? Honestly, I think the production values are superb. The show looks great, the camera angles/shots are infinitely better than American Idol (honestly, this show makes American Idol so much cheesier than it already does). And the talent, like I've said before, is also much better than Idol kids. So, how do they fix it? The only thing I can think of is to knock out the competing for a spot in so-and-so band and simply go for something like the "Rock Idol." Then again, it wouldn't be the same show. So, how do they draw people in?

I have a question - who do you think will be next to go? I'm thinking it will be JD. For me, Mig and Marty are still the top 2, but Suzie has come on strong the last couple of weeks. Jordis is slipping, but she is still strong. I just think JD will be gone next (hope so).

While they liked Jordis, their favor for her is definitely waning (as have her performances in the past weeks). They won't pick JD - even if they like him, I think they realize that he'd be much too difficult.

So, it comes down to MiG, Marty, and Suzie. I think they really like MiG (who seems to be the best logistical fit with the old-school tunes of INXS -- of course, not being a INXS groupie, what do I know), but I think they love Marty. His responses to all their questions are right on. That being said, there's the fear that he's too, I don't know, metal. Is Marty too much of a modern twist to the band? However, I really think Suzie is the wild card. I think more than anyone else there, she really wants this INXS gig. I mean, sure, they all want it, but I think she genuinely desires this gig and INXS knows it. The past two weeks, they have LOVED her. Could she get it? Honestly, she's got a charisma that interests me (and I think she's pretty good-lookin', too ;) ).

I hope it comes down to Marty and Suzie (sorry, MiG fans).

I just read on one of those reality tv internet sites that Mark Burnett has been approached by several other bands to do basically the same thing with them, he also said that the Contender took awhile to catch on also so there is a possibility that we will be seeing another Rockstar show in the future. I really never was an American Idol fan, I have tried to like it since so many at work watch it but for one thing the talent is not all that and Simon is entirely to mean to people, these are kids for petes sake besides some of them should have never made it through auditions and I think the reason they did is so there is someone there to put down. Rockstar has had good talent right from the git go.

I completely agree with you! Add to that his sensitive nature, the crying and whining...it was all just a little too much. I think that, just like JD, the way he was portrayed in the reality tv part of the show has not endeared him to the viewing public.

Marty Oh Marty...you can sing...you can really sing! :rotfl: Finally he stopped the primal scary screaming and let his voice shine. And he didn't disappoint! Marty: how I wish you'll still be here next week ;)

Jordis This is the first time it really hit me how beautiful Jordis is. This is my second favorite performance from her (first one being Man Who Sold The World). I wish we could have heard her actually playing the guitar.

Mig Vocally not the best but I think he outshone the rest of them on stage performance.

Susie I liked it but I didn't feel like she delivered and authentic emotional performance...it all seemed a bit too calculating. The choir really rocked the house though!

The band & the choir WOW WOW WOW! A special mention to them tonight because it was awesome!

Bottom 3: (this is getting harder and harder) JD, Ty, Susie
Going home: Ty

I almost totally agree!

Marty Although he did not have the *primal scary scream* going on ~ I was not that impressed with his song. :confused3 It was much much better than he has been.....but he just creeps me out.

Jordis Totally agree with you!!! Go Jordis! I think Jordis has an amazing voice, and like you really noticed what a beautiful girl she truely is. Jordis was my choice for the encore!

MiG Agree ~ not his best performance. He inherited Marty's *primal scary scream*!!

Suzie Did not feel this either?? Although, I have never liked this song. As with Jordis....I really saw how pretty Suzie really is!

Did not enjoy the choir (except with Suzie & Ty), but completely thought the orchestra was spectacular!!

I thought Ty was very out of line.....he wanted to go out on a positive note, and then acts that way ~ WOW. Way to be positive Ty???

JD has got to go....I have never like him ~ and not I really am sick of him. Go play Elvis again JD ~ you have no future here!!

I want Mig to be in the bottom 3 because I'm DYING to hear him sing INXS. I'm 20 and I "grew up" listening to Inxs because my mom is a huge fan. She loves this show. We both think Mig is the best fit for the band, but we've yet to hear him sing INXS!

I really disliked Ty's closing comments, too. If the viewers kept putting him in the bottom 3 because he's black, how do you explain that this was Jordis's first time in the bottom 3--hello, she's not caucasian, either. Please.

About the viewer demographics: I've been reading the blogs at rockstar.msn.com , and it appears that 90% of J.D.'s fans are indeed teenage girls--judging from all the "J.D. i luuuuuuuv uuuuuuu marree meee!!!!" messages. :rotfl2:I think a lot of young people started watching with their parents, then decided they liked the music or the eye candy and stuck with it.

Just some info on Jon Stevens, he was the singer in a band called Noiseworks who were huge here. Jon fitted in perfectly with the band, didn;t try and change the songs etc and loved it, then it all went wrong - Inxs wern';t ready to move on with the times and I dont thonk Jon liked being pushed around and stay with the past. It took another year of nothing for the band to get this rockstar thing.

Whoever gets in will find it hard to adjust to being told what to do by the other guys and find their own identity. I lvoe iNxs, seen them since 1987, parties with them and know them all well, as did with Michael. Michael was an enigma who will never be replaced and while i prefer that they let it rest, but to continue to have a singer who won't murder the vocals. ic terence trent darby.

RIP Mikey...

I really think they're all going to have to start singing INXS songs soon -- because what's the point if they are great singing other songs, but can't do INXS justice?? :confused3 Come on with the INXS music now!!!

I missed the shows due to the hurricane so I watched videos of the performances last night on MSN.

Marty: Wow. IMHO, he does everything right. LOVED his performance and I'm not scared of him at all, lol.

Suzie: She was so much fun to watch. She enjoyed every minute of that song and it showed. She may just have a shot at this.

Mig: I got the Broadway vibe from him last night. Sometimes I think he's great and other times awful. Maybe it wasn't a good song for him but I was not impressed.

Jordis: I still think her performances have been getting worse instead of better.

Ty: Sooooooo glad he's gone.

JD: Why is he still there?

I am glad you made it through the storm OK! :goodvibes

Did anyone watch the reality episode tonight? JD actually seemed a bit less jerky. :cool1:

And can I just say.. whoo, there was smoke coming out of my TV when my MiG was at the photo shoot. :faint::teeth:
