It was the first time I have watched the show. Usually 8pm is when DS is watching his bedtime movie or whatever, so if we don't tape it, we don't see it.

Anyway, it was a cute show, but my heart was just broken. I just kept thinking.....you just never know:(

I am a regular watcher and thought that tonight's show was very funny. after a while you seemed to forget that John Ritter had died.

Same here. At first I was so sad seeing him knowing that he is no longer with us. But by the end of the show I was just enjoying it.

I missed the first 5 minutes  but was ROTFLOL at the rest of the show. It did seem weird to be watching John Ritter and knowing that he won't be making any more episodes. Has anyone heard what they plan to do with the series?

There will be two more episodes with John, then they will continue without him.:(

mom2boys - This is what I received in an e-mail from Trashy Tabloids:

ABC execs have finally come to a decision regarding their sitcom,
8 Simple Rules For Dating My Daughter following the death of its
star John Ritter. The show will go on and the second season's debut next Tuesday will air as planned. The first three episodes will feature Ritter, with special introductions by the cast before
each episode. It has been decided that Ritter's role will not
be recast, instead his death will be played out on the show....
ABC's special one-hour television tribute to Ritter, was the most
watched program in prime time Tuesday night, averaging 14 million viewers...

Trashy Tabloids is just daily e-mail with entertainment updates. Usually some pretty funny stuff.

The show was good tonight, but it was sad watching it and knowing he's gone. :(

My DH couldn't watch it. He said it was too sad to think John will no longer be with us. Annmarie

I missed the first 15 minutes of it because I was putting the kidlets to bed. It was funny but also sad. It was kinda hard for me to watch knowing John is no longer with us.

It was a good show. Hard to watch though knowing John isn't around anymore. I though Katey did a great job at the beginning. I'm sure it was tough for her.

i forgot it was on. I wanted to check out the new series NCIS on CBS . It replaced JAG which moves to fridays. Also Law & Order (SVU)was moved from fridays to tuesdays at 10 PM(Lot of competion in that time slot).
Oh! By the way has anyone ever seen the series "MONK" on the USA network? I believe its one of the better shows on TV, they just dont make enough episodes.

I used to watch the show once in awhile, but I did watch last night. Very sad. So many actors have died recently, but for some reason, his is still very shocking to me. I told DH when they do the 1st 'new' one after his death and write that into the script, just set me up with a box of kleenex.

I'm a regular watcher and watched last night. It was very sad to watch but thoroughly enjoyed the show. I laughed continously. As much as I enjoyed it and it sounds like everyone else did too, it makes me think that's the way John Ritter would've wanted it. Go out still making everyone laugh. I also think Katy did a good job at the beginning of the show. I just wonder how many takes it took her to do it without breaking down. What a tough time for the cast.:( It would be interesting to see what the viewership was for that episode, because you know that many tuned in although they weren't avid watchers of that show. Everyone loved John Ritter's genuine funniness(if that's a word). He will be missed!

i was a semi-regular watcher last season. i found the show hilarious last year!!

i did tune in to watch it last night. i kept saying to DH that it was so sad that john ritter was gone. i plan to watch this season in it's entirety...

I didn't catch it last night. Diane Sawyer, in the one hour special last week, said that after the three episodes aired, there would be a one hour show dealing with his characters death. If I am able, I want to at least catch that one.

I watched it last night. My DH surprised me when he said it really made him sad to know he was dead. I thought it was a funny episode and enjoyed it. I have always liked the show and hope it is as funny when it returns. I wish them much success with the show.

I also missed the first 5 minutes. I always watch this show. It is so funny. It is so sad that John is gone. I hope it doesn't go downhill without him.
