Did anyone rent a car Christmas week?

It seems as if there are no good deals the week between Christmas & New Years. Any hints for some deals?

We rent a car every year over christmas. They never have great, bargain rates, but with some work you can find a good rate. Check early and often for deals, many companies ( Hertz) will not confirm a rate till 6 months out. Check out coupons from many different palces and keep plugging away. This past year I got a full size thru Hertz with AAA discount for about 220 per week.

I finally winded up booking with WDW through Alamo to get the best rate. Intermediate car 12/20-27, a little over $200 with tax and fees included. Otherwise the cheapest I could find was over $300. The savings paid for our Hoop-De-Doo Show.

My in-laws and our family each own in DVC. This past holiday season, we vacationed together (at VWL), but had different travel dates. FIL found a good deal (I'm not sure of what company) with an agency who has a counter at MCO. At MCO, the rates were $500. for the week (OUCH!), HOWEVER..... If he and MIL were willing to take a cab (cost, around $25.00), they could get the same type of car (and, upon return, return it to the airport) for $200.00.

Something to consider.
