Did anyone get the Florida Resident survey?

I received yesterday in the mail an extensive 6 page long survey about the Walt Disney World resort. Did anyone else get this? It seemed to be searching for what you value most or want most and what keeps you coming back to WDW. I couldnt believe the length. It took 20+ minutes to complete. Just curious what everyone else thought!

I wish they'd send me one!

I am surprised no one else received it...It was exhasutive in length but I think that they are really trying to narrow down why , what , and when Florida residents go to the parks.....lets hope it helps!

LodgeMan,

I got the survey. In fact, they sent me two of them about five days apart. The surveys showed me that they are completely out of touch with what I like about WDW and why I go there. It was sad.

One thing that bothered me was that “Rides Parades and Shows” were all grouped into one lump throughout the entire survey. For example, if they asked what I would like to see more of, there was a list, but “Rides, Parades and Shows” was one possible answer of many. So if I mark that answer, I can hear them saying that I asked for more parades, which I did not. I want more rides. Rather, I want more ATTRACTIONS that are high in Disney quality. That will make me come back, renew my pass, and spend more money there. But parades and shows will not.

And then there were some truly odd possible responses. Why do I go to WDW? One possible answer: “I feel a need to re-connect with WDW”. What is that all about? Do they really think that I am that emotionally and psychologically attached to this place? That my life won't go on without one more visit? Or maybe they are just giving themselves a lot of credit. Also, answers like “I go because advertisements remind me of the magic” and “I need to be reminded of the magic”. (Those last two are not exact quotes, but very close - you get the idea).

I felt like writing, “Stop wasting time and money with all of this survey crap and go back to what you do best. Highly themed attractions that people will travel around the world, and spend big bucks to see.” I guess they just can’t figure that out…and they didn’t give me a way to express it.

I don't know. I think they may have missed the mark by focusing only on Fl. residents. I guess they think of Fl. residents as being their most frequent/often/repeat guests, sort of like disneyland thinks of so. cal. But I don't know if it is always the case. When I was growing up in Fl. I never visited walt disney world because I felt the need to reconnect with wdw - I don't think I would have even understood that statement before we moved to Michigan. Now it is probably our #1 reason for our trips. Go figure.

As Wedway indicated, it was mis-directed at best. It was amazing how many different ways they could ask the same question. I am sure the results will sit untouched on an executives desk.

I certainly hope so. There is now way that they could tell what I what I really like or dislike about WDW from these questions. They could decipher all sorts of crazy data from those questions/answers. But I'm sure that there is some bean counter somewhere that can tell you why it's 99.9 percent accurate.

And you're right, they asked the same questions over and over, with slightly different verbiage. I felt like that was some sort of way to validate or maybe standardize the survey results. I am sure there was a statistical reason for it.

IMHO, a huge waste of money. They could have laid off 2 or 3 fewer imagineers with that money. But who needs those guys? They have these surveys to tell them what to build.

There was a huge topic about this on the WDWMagic.com forums. The little survey ISN'T Disneys and is most likely an outside ferm doing consulting work for competators.
