Maybe it's just me because I manage a call center, but I just can't see this show making it. Personally, I really don't want to watch a show about people losing jobs here and the people who replaced them in India. Again, maybe it just hits too close to home for me, but I thought the beginning, with the empty room and someone throwing a brick through the window was kind of depressing, not funny. Plus I hate calling somewhere and getting someone in India that I can't understand. (cough, cough, Dell, cough)

Thank you for calling Dell Technical Support. This is "Ricky", how may I help you ?

Didn't watch. It didn't look funny, and I feel the same way you do since I used to work in a call center and DH works phone tech support.

I had no interest in watching it either. Some of the jokes sound funny, but the over concept is not.

I watched it and loved it. I am not sure if they will be able to sustain a long series but I found it very funny.

The original movie is absolutely fabulous (smaller independent film). I was looking forward to the show hoping it would be just as good, and I was disappointed. The movie really focused more on cultural differences and acceptance while being funny at the same time.

If you guys haven't seen the movie I highly recommend it. It is on Netflix instant watch right now and it's the same title "Outsourced."

I thought the movie was just OK, so I don't plan to watch it and it sounds like I made the correct choice.

The company I work for has outsourced it IT dept to somewhere in India too. Horrible how they treat people on the phones it's like they couldn't make it at Dell. It's the not so helpful desk.

if you want to see it, i would watch it soon, i dont think its going to be around too much longer ! I thought it had its funny moments, i just dont see how far they can take it.

I liked the movie, but I don't think it can be sustained as a weekly show for very long.

We have boycotted in our house, as DH was laid off in March as QA Director at his company because they outsourced all of it to India. Every time there is a commercial, he can be found yelling to the TV, "I hope you fail miserably!"

6 months later, still no job.

The spots for it were somewhat appealing, but the pilot was a disaster. It just wasn't funny, and the product they were selling was often quite offensive. Not a family show. I am sorry I wasted time watching the pilot. Won't tune in again.

ITA! My DH insisted on DVR-ing the show so I watched this first one just to see. It's not a funny show to me and my job hasn't been outsourced.

Three and done? Maybe it will make it all the way to six episodes before it is yanked. I can't believe NBC is airing it. IMO it doesn't even meet the really low bar they set fo summer programming.

Send the show to India. Maybe they'll think it's funny.

It is hard for me to imagine that ANYONE would think that this would be a show that would be fun to watch. How out of touch are the people who invested money in a show about people loosing their jobs.

Yeah, loosing your job, that is a real funny. Having to teach the person who is taking your job. That is even more funny. Real fun. It is so much fun for those employees who have worked for a company for decades, get fired so the company can hire cheap, incompetent overseas labor, and then have to find a job when they are in their 50's. I am just giggling away it is so funny.

Yeah. Funny show.

I hope the producer(s) are outsourced soon. Maybe they will think it is funny ....

Later,
Dan

If you want something interesting about outsourcing (also on Netflix Instant watch), that show 30 Days, it's a documentary type show that sends someone the "walk in someone else's shoes for 30 days", well they did an episode where they sent a man who lost his job due to outsourcing to India to live with the family in India who got his new job. It was interesting and sad on both ends.

I saw this documentary and watching it, I never thought, "Hey this would be a great premise for a sitcom!"

I work in a call center, so I can't find a lot of humor in this show. And outsourcing itself has cost so many of my friends and family their jobs that the concept is just baffling. I don't think they stopped to take a look around and go, "Oh, wait a minute, there is a recession going on! Maybe this is a bad idea!" Save a few jobs, instead of **cough Dell cough* *Sniffle Citifinancial Sniffle**Gag AT&T Gag*. I have not been outsourced (yet!), but the humor to me is in poor taste.
