Did anybody NOT like Victoria & Albert's?

I'll be using the Platinum Plan in June and I know that Victoria and Albert's will be the very best use of one of our meals. But I'm just not sure I'm going to like it. I don't like fish, and things like tuna, octopus, caviar, buffalo and duck do not sound appetizing at all. Is there going to be enough choices for me? I just feel like I might not appreciate it. All the reviews I read say it's wonderful, but has anyone been there who hasn't liked it?

I'm thinking about changing my reservation to Citrico's or Yachtsman or Fulton's Crab.

Advice?

Vegetable Ash-Crusted Halibut this is one of the dishes I got off of Allears, what is that? I know what you mean, I've thought about doing it then I look at some of the dishes and I think what is all of this? Will I like it? Will I be hungry afterwards because I hated it? I don't know what 1/2 the stuff on the menu is. I like all types of food, not picky at all, but I don't understand what all this stuff is. I too would like to know if others didn't like it, I was thinking about going there, but to tell the truth it scares me.

If you have never tried these dishes, how do you know you won't like it?

I've eaten at V&A many times and I've never had a single dish that wasn't delicious.

V&A is one of the top ranked restaurants in the US and it would be worth going to for the experience even if you didn't absolutely love every one of the 6 courses.

I'm a girl that grew up in Alabama and ate at your typical chain restaurants. Heck, I didn't even know about "nice" restaurants. I definitely wasn't adventurous in my eating and wasn't a huge fish/seafood fan either. That all changed when I moved to Chicago in my late twenties and met my little girl's father. He was a "foodie" and only ate at the top restaurants. The first time he wanted to go somewhere I really didn't, but sucked it up becaue I liked him so much.........you'll do crazy things when you're in love! :lmao: I took one look at the menu and didn't recognize anything! After getting a kick out of seeing this poor southern girl out of her element he helped me order and suprisingly I enjoyed most of the things that I hadn't tried before. This helped me to become more adventurous and have a greater appreciation for food. About a year later we went to WDW and ate at many of the nicer restaurants, including V&A's. I can honestly say that I was wonderful! Personally, though, I prefer California Grill and Jiko because it's a little less formal, but the food is spectacular and I'd love to do it again someday. Just remember that it's only food and won't kill you. If you don't like it, you never have to try it again, although you might be surprised at what you do like. For instance, I wasn't a big fish person, but love halibut, etc. Good luck!!

A week or so before your ADR, V&A will call you and ask about any food preferences. Otherwise, you can call them and tell them. They will work around your preferences.

For example, my d doesn't eat seafood. Her menu had no seafood on it; she had substitutions for the fish course. I am allergic to crab; I had other seafood on my menu, but no crab. My dh didn't want any game meats; my d had elk but he had no game meats on his menu. We're both on low-salt diets; didn't matter in the least - still delicious!

You get three choices for each course. In addition, there is a full vegetarian menu available for every course. My dh had a couple of dishes from that menu which were also fabulous.

I think you'll find enough to eat on the menu!

Have you ever had buffalo? Think of it as a healthier version of cow. The meat is quite similar. Slightly sweeter.

Caviar is a ridiculously expensive optional up-charge, so don't worry about having that as part of your meal. I agree about buffalo being similar to beef, just leaner. Tasty stuff.

I'm not a big fan of venison, but I went ahead and tried their preparation of it. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. If you go in with a bit of trust, try it. If you don't like your dish, the servers will probably offer you something else instead.

Each course has a couple options to choose from. And as I said before, the servers will be more than happy to work with you and answer your questions, alleviate your worries.

Thanks OP for asking this question . . . I have always wondered whether or not I would like the food at V&A.

Thanks for this - puts my fears to rest. I just may try it one day.
